Reviews
+ Amazing beds
+ Good shower
+ Aircon
+ Quiet, on the top floor. No outside noise
+ Late check in for flights
+ Safe locked gate at night
+ Very clean
+ Spacious
+ Perfect facilities, wardrobe, desk, fridge and kettle. Tissues and free water too. They provide towels, soup, toothbrushes, combs!!
Could use a fan in the room to help with mosquitoes.
+ Baggage storage and affordable laundry.
+ Walking distance to banks and money exhange.
- Could use airfreshers in the bathroom, the smell of the drains became quite intense after day 3 here.
- No elevator. Not accessible for wheelchair users or limited mobility. A lot of stairs to reach top floor.
- Could use fabric at the bottom of the chairs as they are heavy and can be heard through walls when dragged across the floor.
These are all minor improvements. Everything was really great!
We had a good time over here
Keys have to be given on front desk everytime you go out . It's clean but with same money we can find much better places
This place is amazing and I acknowledge I can be a picky sod when it comes to hotels.
First off, I arrived from Vientiane where I had horrible over priced hotels and Bookingdotcom was a fraud. So I arrived here fully expecting the same and fully expecting to walk out in search of yet another hotel upon disappointed arrival. I could not have been more surprised and more happy to find what I found.
This hotel is an old building but is beautifully maintained and has immense character and charm; they are currently repainting rooms as customers leave and replacing mattresses too. It is SPOTLESS and has great feng shui too, a really positive energy. It's a period building so of course there's no lift, if you want a hotel with a lift, why are you booking here?
I booked a twin room with a fan and it's fantastic, so clean and spacious, I love it. An added bonus is that both mattresses are different; hard and soft! Amazing. The bathroom is typical SEAsian style, so the floor gets wet, but they kindly provide slippers and the floor from a late night shower is dry by morning because the exhaust fan works properly. The room is well appointed and has a nice big wardrobe, a fridge, and a table which doubles as a desk.
Other plusses are that they have an excellent and very reasonable laundry service which gets your clothing back in 24hours clean and smelling great. There are also no mosquitoes because the windows in the room close properly, very little street noise and they provide 2 bottles of water a day. There's also a kettle in the room and tea and coffee. For the very cheap price (let's be honest here), this place is a BARGAIN, and I haven't even mentioned the location.
The day (not the night) front staff is kind, friendly, and dedicated; he never leaves the front unattended so security is excellent and there are CCTV cameras in the building for added peace of mind. The evening staff doesn't speak English very well which leads to problems.
So why ★★★you ask? Originally I gave it five, however, on the last few days there I realised how precarious the hotel is. What I mean by that is that up until then there had only been a few residents on my floor and we were all quiet. Suddenly a gaggle of selfish people arrived who seem to have hearing difficulties as they talked (shouted) loud enough that I could hear conversations through walls. They also spoke loudly in the corridors, including on their phones, especially the froggies next door. Of course I called the old man at the front desk, and he did telephone up only he phoned the WRONG room🙄,how difficult is to understand, “between my room and the street, the French occupants“
😱 surely anyone can understand that. If not, then I suggest a non-English speaking job is a better fit for you. So, the point is that I'd been lucky for most of my stay as it's now low season, but if you were to stay there in high season you could probably expect those types all the time. Another factor which came up was that on the 1F, there's a nice seating area for guests, however, it turns out you can SMOKE there... inside the building😱. Again, I only discovered that when a smoker moved in. Other suggestions to improve the hotel would be to remove the fridge circuit from the room circuit. What I mean by that is that the room key doubles as an electric key, so when removed turns off the electric to the room, this obviously prevents wasting energy when you go out. That said, of course, it also turns off the fridge, that's a BIG mistake both for the guest AND the life of the fridge. Another thing is that on the third floor there's a cool little balcony, I'd put a few low stools and tables there. However, if it was like that maybe noisy guests would sit there yapping until the wee hours.
To summate. I'm glad I stayed there for the quite days I did, but if I knew it would be rowdy I'd stay elsewhere
