We stayed for 5 nights while we enjoyed Montreal attractions and attended a Canadiens game. The location was great as we arrived at Gare Central on a Via rail train and it was a short walk to the Bell Center, lots of restaurants and shops.
I booked early and saw that the King Studio was priced for $20 less a few days before our arrival. I mentioned this at check in and we were upgraded to a King Loft Suite (1200 sq ft). The room had a full kitchen, living room and large bedroom area. It was perfect for our 5 day stay. Lots of closet space. The bed was very comfortable and the heating worked well.
The complimentary breakfast was wonderful, lots of fresh fruit, yogurt, a variety of breads and the coffee was good. The staff throughout the hotel were very helpful.
We swam in the pool - it was warm thankfully and there were lot of towels available.
Everything throughout the hotel was clean and in good repair. If we return to Montreal we will definitely stay here again.

I have traveled professionally for 25 years, and I have never encountered a more alarming combination of indifference, poor judgment, and hostile customer service than at Le Square Phillips Hotel & Suites.

My wife booked our stay and clearly noted that we needed an allergy-free room. This was not a preference. I have a life-threatening dust mite allergy and have previously suffered anaphylactic shock after a hotel stay. When we arrived, we were told the note had apparently been treated as a request for a pet-free room, which is not the same thing at all.

The first room was unsuitable and had a strange odor. I asked for another room. The second room was no better and still lacked dust-mite-protective bedding or pillow encasements. When I explained that staying there could literally put my life at risk, I was told that it was my responsibility to bring my own bedding.

That response alone was astonishing. But it got worse.

Because the hotel could not provide a room that met the documented medical need attached to the reservation, I requested a refund. I was told they would not handle it because the booking was through Expedia. I then asked the supervisor to call Expedia and support the refund request directly. He refused. Expedia later told me the hotel had denied the refund.

This happened on my 50th birthday. Instead of enjoying the evening with my family, I spent roughly 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. dealing with a preventable mess, missed our dinner reservation, and ended up eating alone because my 10-year-old daughter was too exhausted by the ordeal.

A hotel does not need to be perfect. It does need to be competent, humane, and trained to respond appropriately when a guest raises a legitimate health and safety concern. What I encountered instead was a staff culture that felt dismissive, untrained, and openly unwilling to take ownership of an obvious failure.

Public reviews already mention issues like noise, overcrowded breakfast conditions, and operational friction. My experience was worse: a basic breakdown in hospitality and common sense around a serious medical accommodation.

If your stay depends on staff listening carefully, responding compassionately, or taking responsibility when something goes wrong, I would not trust this property.

Le Square Philips has an interesting combination of huge rooms with relatively barebones decor that make it a comfortable though utilitarian place to stay. Our suite was one of the biggest hotel rooms ive seen with a massive entrance and cavernous ceilings, though any sense of decor was lacking.

The location is fantastic, very close to shopping, underground access, the place des arts, and walkable distance to old montreal. The staff were kind and the valet parking worked well.

Breakfast is toast, bagels, cold deli meats/cheeses, fruits and pastries, and coffee/tea. Nice to have this available for free.

Wonderful hotel and exceptional customer service! Location was convenient - walking distance to everything downtown! We especially liked the studio suite as it was our home away from home! King bed, Dining area, kitchenette and seating area was very comfortable!

I also want to comment on the exceptional customer service by all the staff, especially many thanks to Genevieve Beaumier. I purchased a bathrobe from the hotel to commemorate our wonderful visit in November. It wasn't the correct style when I opened it at home and Genevieve ensured I received the correct style and make special arrangements as I live in a different province! Merci beaucoup Genevieve! I appreciate your help in going above and beyond to help me!

Love this central location. Close to so many amenities yet it’s not a super busy street. The rooms were massive- we had what was essentially a two bedroom with a full kitchen sitting area with a pullout couch and a large bathroom. Ideal for families. We had a little bit of an issue when first arriving with our reservation, but the staff was super accommodating. We ended up having another issue because of a protest that had started in the area but the hotel wasn’t given significant notice and it left us in a bit of a difficult situation in terms of being able to check out and get our car out of the garage but again the staff was super apologetic and accommodating. Everyone was exceptionally friendly and helpful. The pool and Gym are lovely, well organized and quality continental breakfast included. I would highly recommend this hotel and gladly stay here again.

This apartment is perfectly situated in Old Quebec City, only a 10-minute walk from the iconic Chateau Frontenac. With restaurants right downstairs, it's incredibly convenient. Housed in a beautifully renovated old French-style building, the apartment combines a stately exterior with a modern interior. It comes with a fully equipped kitchen and laundry facilities (washer and dryer). I absolutely loved it!

We liked the room a lot. It was very spacious. We also enjoyed the pool. Service was great. Valet uploaded our luggage and brought to the room and the same when we checked out. All of the staff was very friendly. We also enjoyed the continental breakfast.

The place is beautiful! It's in the right location, the waitstaff was pleasant but the food I ordered so dry and tasteless, I barely ate it. Instead, the bread and the toppings filled me up and the fries. It seems like hamburger was precooked and then reheated.

Went with a large group and the staff was really accommodating and quick! Not many vegetarian options though during lunch. The big salad was ok, nothing special. Flammkuchen was great! Can be very crowded, but good atmosphere overall.

Very good place to dinner or just drink a beer. Well located, close to the subway and the central train station.
The steak with fries is a great choice (steak, fries and salad) or the chicken breast with smashed potatoes and carrots.

I always think I'm going to like this place more than I do. The beer is okay, it's not the greatest, but it's acceptable. The food is pretty standard pub food, the prices are more or less reasonable, and the services is usually pretty good. For whatever reason it just doesn't all come together though.
