This is a very mixed review. The staff seems overwhelmed and sometimes even borderline unpleasant. The cleanliness of the dining room leaves much to be desired. However, the food is excellent, and the chef is incredible; everything is truly well executed.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel, especially the heated outdoor pool at 27°C – excellent! The breakfast was also very good with a wide variety of choices. Saint-Jean-de-Luz is about a 30-minute walk or a 10-minute drive away, but parking there in the summer isn't easy. The hotel offers free parking and a secure bicycle storage area. The hotel staff is very friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The only thing that could be improved is the wardrobe area, which is small and lacks shelves, but we managed with a small bench and table that were in the room. The room was just the right size, although the bathroom was very spacious. It was sufficient for me since you're only in the room to sleep. Highly recommended!

We stayed 12 nights in this hotel. It's well located, the staff are friendly but completely overwhelmed, and the cleanliness leaves much to be desired. We had to change rooms after only two nights due to an ant problem! It was surreal. The breakfast was nothing like the photos on ***********. We had to ask the staff for a clean cup, a teapot—total chaos! The staff were running around frantically, between the dining room and the dishwashing area. There was a clear lack of staff and unacceptable management, especially during peak summer season. And I won't even mention the cobwebs on the terrace; the hotel was practically abandoned. Avoid this place at all costs!

The first room #16 was totally unacceptable with damp and mold settling around the vent. Not at all what we were expecting. After complaining we were upgraded to the largest room in the hotel which is what we thought we would get in the first place. The best part of the experience was meeting the chef, Olivier Lataste who created sumptuous meals for us.

Traditional type hotel, easy access from the motorway with plenty of parking adjacent to the hotel. Rooms slightly small and a bit dated, however very clean, comfy bed, good WiFi, good shower. Bar area very buzzy and restaurant full of locals which is a good sign. The food was excellent. Service good. Overall perhaps slightly expensive for what it was, but I would still recommend. I stayed one night en route to Spain.

We’re shocked! We were looking for a hotel to sleep in the middle of the night. When we arrived, the receptionist told us a price which was already a bit high but we were already there so we stayed the night. The next morning we wanted to leave and they made us pay double the price they had told us and especially for the quality it was just overpriced. The receptionist was also arrogant. Wouldn’t recommend it!👎👎👎

We have returned to hotel donibane in several occasions en route to Spain and back. Despite the location of the hotel being in a busy area it is extremely tranquil and quiet. The large gardens are beautiful and outdoor dining is a delight weather permitting. The staff at hotel donibane are without exception friendly and very helpful. The rooms are immaculately clean and although fairly basic provide everything required for a short stay. The large kings sized bed was extremely comfortable. The bathroom has an excellent shower and a heated towel rail. The restaurant is absolutely excellent. The food provided is of excellent quality, always beautifully cooked and presented. The vegetarian option of a stir fried wok is my absolute favourite. The Erromadie beach is about 15 minutes walk away and a lovely place for relaxation, walking and swimming

Lovely hotel with a lovely pool area and outside space. Opposite a Lidl supermarket and close to a MacDonalds restaurant if you don't want to eat in their's. Friendly helpful staff.
