Comfortable vibe in the hotel and in the room, but there were less amenities included in the room than we had expected. It'd be nice to have slippers in the room.

I had a great stay at Hotel Charlemagne. The location near Perrache made getting around Lyon really easy, and the staff were warm and helpful throughout my visit. My room was clean and comfortable, with a lovely view. The breakfast and cozy atmosphere made it a really enjoyable base.

The hotel is in a great location, very close to Perrache train station. Getting here from Lyon Part-Dieu train station is also super convenient; you can take the T1 tram directly, which takes about 20 minutes. The breakfast offered by the hotel is good, with tasty bread and cheese. It's also easy to get to Lyon's Old Town from the hotel; just take the metro, transfer once at Bellecour, and get off at Vieux Lyon station. The hotel front desk also provides various tourist brochures and maps for guests to look through.

"Not impressed with this hotel. The last two days have not been cleaned once, like they totally forgot about room 604. Dust bins not emptied, towels not replaced... felt like we were staying in a cheap hostel instead. Staff seemed nice enough, but clearly need to sort out the housekeeping. Not likely to be recommending this place anytime soon."

We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Charlemagne By HappyCulture in Lyon! Everything exceeded our expectations. The hotel is modern, clean, and very comfortable, with spacious rooms and a peaceful atmosphere — a real plus in the city center. The location is perfect: just steps away from the Perrache station, tram and metro stops, and within easy walking distance to the old town and the riverside. There are also plenty of restaurants, cafés, and shops nearby.
The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, and they kindly allowed us to check in early at no extra cost. Breakfast was delicious and offered a good variety. Overall, this hotel offers excellent value and a perfect base for exploring Lyon. We’ll definitely stay here again on our next visit!

We truly enjoyed our stay! The staff were incredibly friendly and always quick to respond to anything we needed. The room was sparkling clean and very comfortable. The location is great — a quiet and pleasant area, yet close to everything. Breakfast was tasty and offered a nice variety of options.
The only small suggestion would be to have a slightly larger toilet with a washbasin inside.
If we come back to Lyon, we will definitely stay here again!

Unfortunately, the hotel did not meet my expectations. I specifically requested a quiet room facing the courtyard, but was given one facing the street with trams — it was very noisy. The photos on Booking do not match reality: the building is quite old, the rooms are tiny, and cleanliness was not up to standard.
Check-in was delayed — I had to wait until 3:30 PM even though the official check-in time is 3:00 PM.
The lighting in the room worked inconsistently, which was really annoying. The power outlet on the right side didn’t work, and there was no ventilation in the bathroom, which made it stuffy and damp.
Overall, this hotel does not deserve its claimed 4 stars — at best, it’s a 3-star property.

The rooms were quite warm and we had to keep the balcony door open to maintain an appropriate temperature. We were on the church side so that was a bit noisy at times with the playground. Next time we’d stay on the other side which seems quiet. Otherwise all was good with a great location.

Very helpful, polite and smiling staff. Tasty and diverse breakfast. The mattress and pillows are more than perfect. Very close (2 min) from a tram station and a big train/bus/metro station (5 min). 15-20 minutes walking to the main sights. The rooms are a bit tight. Highly recommend.
