Oceania Hotel d'Anjou Angers in Angers

I was on a bike trip and when we arrived we were told to go the garage about a block away in order to store the bikes. When we got to the garage the door was open and we were able to store the bikes. When we went to leave the garage the inner door was jammed and only opened part way so we had to scramble under the garage door in order to get to the exit door. I was afraid that the door would move while we were scrambling under it which could have been disastrous. We then tried to leave but next garage door would not open. We had to scream for help. A woman on the outside realized we were stuck and went to the hotel to tell them people were stuck in the garage. We were then rescued in a few minutes but I found this unnerving and incredibly poor service.

It’s clear the building is very old so the fit and finish is a bit tired. This hotel has an issue with its air conditioning meaning most rooms lack air con. In France in the summer this doesn’t work, they do provide a fan but it’s not enough. The staff are friendly and helpful but there’s nothing they can do to fix the AC issue. I’d avoid and stay elsewhere

We checked in and the AC did not work. They moved us to another room and said it was working and would cool down. The temperature was 25c/77f. It was not a great night of sleeping. The people could not have been nicer but experience with AC was bad. Would not recommend the hotel

We stopped in and parking wasn't right there. The place didn't look inviting at all. I checked out two rooms that were small. They seemed alright but the AC wasn't working because of roof work going on. Of course, it was 104° outside. No easy way to get from car to check in or luggage from car to room. They did have an elevator which could be used once you get you luggage into the hotel. The lobby was small and inviting, too! We cancelled our stay and drive an hour away to not deal with the whole situation to get to our next hotel after 7pm. This is after we traveled the bike route for the whole day visiting three or more chateaus. I was wondering why there were so many people on the road bicycling. The Google map was set on bike mode of travel. So, we had an interesting day to say the least.
