Ah, White 1921 in St Tropez. Where do I begin? Perhaps with the lack of a lift, your vacation workout will consist of lugging your luggage up stairs, stairs, and more stairs. Think of it as CrossFit but with less encouragement and more sweat. Once you’ve summited the Everest at this hotel, you’ll be rewarded with a cute room—like an Ikea bedsit, which is cute. Overpriced, of course, but what would you expect? It’s St Tropez, where they charge you more for less, and you still have to assemble your dignity after realising you’ve just paid top Euro for something that resembles a college dorm. The courtyard, a place where you might hope to find some peace, is instead a bustling pit of chaos. The overpriced Louis Vuitton restaurant occupies the space where you can enjoy the privilege of spending a small fortune on a salad while wondering why on earth you didn’t just buy a sandwich from a street vendor. As for the staff, let’s just say they’ve mastered the art of being rude and unhelpful. I’m convinced they were trained in a unique academy where customer service is considered a weakness. Need help? Don’t bother asking. They’re too busy perfecting their art of condescension. Now, the location is lovely—right on the Place de Lices. You can’t beat it! But for the price, you might as well get a beautiful hotel in Sainte Maxime and take the 20-minute boat ride over to St Tropez. The boat is probably more comfortable than your room at White 1921, and you’ll have saved enough money to buy yourself endless drinks on the deck to drown your sorrows. In summary, they overcharge because they can, and people will pay for it and be severely underwhelmed. White 1921: come for the location, stay for the stairs, and leave with a lighter wallet and a heavier heart.

Imagine tumbling headfirst down these slick, narrow, ladder-like stairs—if you're lucky, you'll only bang your skull on the toilet door. If not, you might just find yourself face-first in the toilet bowl, wishing you'd brought that bucket I highly recommend for nocturnal emergencies. Got kids? Hope you’ve got good insurance. Thinking of a romantic getaway? Make sure you’ve updated your wills. This room is perfect for those with a taste for danger, a love of minimalism (and I do mean minimal—the colour palette is fifty shades of white, with a hint of "vibrant faded black" courtesy of the sad little velux blind), or perhaps a deep-seated grudge against their traveling companions. Pro tip: Don’t expect the staff to care when you inevitably plummet to your doom. This "highly requested" room must be popular with thrill-seekers looking for a bargain or parents who secretly hope their kids don’t make it through the night. If you’re under 4 feet tall, a double zero, have amazing night vision, rough feet and like to hang around in kids playhouses, this might just be the room for you. Otherwise, sleep tight, practice your corpsing—and don’t forget that bucket. Probably wise to keep any complaints or requests to yourselves too as the staff are keen to take your money but not much else. This horrendous stay could have been calmed by some form of goodwill gesture from the hotel beyond a croissant and a cup of coffee. In the plus side this hotel has a nice Louis Vuitton cafe in its courtyard to ensure they also extract every penny off passers by as well as residents, the aircon was good and if you don’t like very much natural light - this is certainly the place to be as it’s located right on the place de lices for the Tuesday and Saturday markets.

Please DONOT stay here. Here we go.we were greeted with, you have the best room in the hotel, it’s so cosy. Which was clearly a sales pitch & a warning sign. Well the room was more like a death trap. We had to walk up 2/3 flights of stairs to get to our room. ( no lifts) the Bathroom was on the main floor, with the smallest Wardrobe I’ve ever seen and NO space for longCloths Then halfway up the stairs was the toilet with no sink & a door that lead onto a staircase and hit the bottom step. Then we had to struggle up the next flight of stairs which had no banister halfway up. So very dangerous if you wanted to go to the loo in the evening, as you would lose your balance and more than likely have a bad fall . Then we entered into the loft, WOW this was an experience. We had booked two separate single beds, but the beds were joined together,no space in between the beds at all , this was due to lack of space, hence there was no room to get in either side of the bed, as the walls on either side was on the slant, which ment, as soon as you got out of bed, you knocked yourself unconscious by the, far to close slant on the wall. Of course we ask could change rooms, as this was an absolute death trap we were told there was nofurther rooms available, & and if we wanted to move hotels, we would still have to pay for our room. This was even though the room was not up to standard & a massive health & safety issue. I then asked to speak to the manager, who was on holiday ( in Peak season ) clearly not a very conscientious manager. The staff asked her to call me, but she refused to speak to me, & said her staff can deal with it, unfortunately every one of them, couldn’t make a decision without asking her. So we hit another brick wall . On the last day we was out with friends till late evening, and was told if we wanted to pack all our bags they had a room for us, for the next eight hours,this clearly was not realistic or achievable, as we was out all day. Regarding there advertising,the Photos,look great and it sells itself well. but that’s what it does, just sells itself and 100% does not live up to its expectations We were not offered any compensation and nobody seems to care .

My wife had a miscarriage and we couldn't travel. They wouldn't allow us to cancel our reservation. Heartless, selfish people. This was not a day before cancellation either. They wouldn't even consider any alternative options to try to work with us during this terrible time.
