Ippa S Plaza Hotel in Grigoleti

We booked rooms in advance. An hour before arrival, we confirmed they were expecting us, and they told us everything was fine—come on over. When we arrived, they wouldn't even let us in the door, saying there were no available rooms. When we inquired further, they said they could give us rooms, but worse than the ones we'd booked, and at a higher price.

The staff at this hotel tried to scam us which I take personally on behalf of Georgia's visitors and the reputation of its tourism industry.

What happened: The towel rail in our bathroom was broken when we checked in. The bar dropped the moment I touched it so we left it alone. When we checked out the following morning, the hotel staff were so eager to check the room that they barged in while I was still packing my bags. A staff member immediately went to the bathroom, grabbed the broken towel rail and claimed that we broke it. They demanded money in return which we refused to pay. Another group of visitors were scammed the same way when we were leaving. They could not speak Georgian or Russian so they were bullied into paying.

Beyond scamming customers, the hotel's breakfast is very poor in comparison to other Georgian guest houses and hotels I've stayed at. There are many other hotels in the area that must offer both honest practices and better value for money.

I don't really want to give even a star to this accommodation but I can't post this review without it so I will go with a star. There were times when I was urged to write a bad review but eventually I could not be bothered to do it, but not this one, this is the first ever bad review I'm taking seriously. The worst accommodation experience I have ever had in my entire life. Most stuffs are made of very poor quality materials. Some of the stuffs in bathroom are fully covered with rust. The blankets are thin, as thin as pillow cases. Not even a bottle of water provided. The path to the sea was halfly blocked by constructions. The service was the worst, the shower head was made of plastic or some kind of low quality material, it was nearly broken when I arrived, as soon as I turned on the water, the connecter between the head and the tube went broken. Hotel manager then charged us 15gel for this without taking any explanation. If this is how they do business, I would be surprised if they are eventually successful. Not even a single box ticked. The location is bad, blocked by other constructions like we are living on a construction site as well. For the food, I can find much better things to eat from convenient stores.
