Description

Ostseehotel Warnemünde is a four-star hotel located directly on the Baltic Sea's beach promenade in Warnemünde. The hotel offers a variety of room types ranging from Economy Double rooms to spacious Double Suites, many with sea views and balconies. It features a classic building with modern furnishings and maritime-style décor. The hotel provides amenities such as free parking, WiFi, a spa and wellness centre including a sauna (which requires an extra fee), a restaurant, bar, and family-friendly rooms. Despite its convenient location and clean rooms, some guests have noted that the rooms can be hot due to lack of air conditioning and some maintenance issues. Reception hours are limited, which has occasionally made accessing the wellness facilities challenging. Breakfast is available buffet style from 8:00 to 10:30 but has received mixed reviews regarding the variety and quality. Pets are allowed on request with an additional fee. Overall, it offers a solid stay for those prioritizing location and a range of room options, but some service and comfort aspects may fall short of four-star expectations.

Location

The hotel sits at Kurhausstraße 1 in Warnemünde, right on the beach promenade along the Baltic Sea. It is a short walk to local landmarks such as the Warnemünde lighthouse and the Old Stream. Nearby dining options include Restaurant Kurhaus Warnemünde just 106 meters away, Grillstube BROILER at 117 meters, and Strandbar DÜNE 13 at 287 meters, all highly rated by guests. Public parking is available opposite the hotel in an underground garage. The closest major airport is Hamburg Airport (HAM), located about 149 kilometers away.

Tips

  • Arrive with patience regarding reception hours, as front desk staffing can be limited and may affect access to wellness and room services.
  • For parking, consider using the underground garage opposite the hotel for easier access and note the strict timing on parking card returns.
  • If breakfast quality is a priority, you might want to explore nearby bakeries or restaurants for alternative options.

Not worth the money.
Reception does not speak anything except German, when they are actually there, which is very limited. Rooms are hot, no fans or air-conditioning. Tiniest mini fridge I have ever seen. No option for ice or icebucket to cool down. No food or kitchen. If you are on a wheelchair you have to use steps to enter hotel

The breakfast was very good and the staff friendly. However, it was unfortunately impossible to go to the wellness area because the reception was almost never staffed. In addition, it is actually a no-go that you should pay extra for the sauna even though you were a guest in the hotel.
We were assured by phone that the reception would be staffed until 6 p.m. (which was already scheduled for a visit to the sauna, as I wanted to enjoy it in the evening after a walk on the beach or city, etc.), but this was not kept during the day. A big minus for a supposed 4-star hotel.
In our room the television turned on by itself at half past six/seven in the morning. So there was nothing about sleeping in either.
In addition, both of my niece's room cards stopped working on the second day, so she couldn't get into her room. No one from the hotel staff could be reached, so she had to get the master key from the restaurant manager. The next day the problem was addressed, which was answered with the words "That can't be right." was dismissed. All in all, not really professional. I will not recommend this hotel.

The hotel has a very nice location. The rooms themselves are okay, but could use an update. I wouldn't add breakfast anymore, there's not much choice and the coffee is a disaster. Then it's better to go to the bakery. However, the front desk staff annoyed me the most. Very rude and rude...

Rooms are clean and decorated in a maritime style. Bed at 1.40 m is very narrow for two adults. The lady at reception seemed painfully friendly, rooms were only ready shortly before 4 p.m. instead of 3 p.m., and there wasn't even an excuse for that.
Breakfast was actually all there, but the rolls were either white and not fully baked or baked from the day before and extremely hard. Scrambled eggs are totally watery and pale, toast has already been baked, it just doesn't work. Yoghurt, fruit, vegetables totally fresh, several juices, cold cuts, cheese and fish, everything was really top. But bread and rolls are a disaster.

Beautiful hotel, classic building with modern furnishings, perfect location right on the beach promenade on the Baltic Sea. Short walk to the lighthouse and old stream.
The rooms are relatively small but perfectly equipped. Nothing is missing.
The breakfast was good and sufficient.
Service and reception - very friendly and helpful.
Parking is possible in the public parking garage opposite the hotel for €15.
We were very satisfied and will definitely come back.

Price/performance is not right. The location (central/near the beach) is great. But that’s about it. I booked through a reduced offer from a platform. At the full price (4 star level), we would have been very annoyed. We often come to Warnemünde and are actually used to different things. The breakfast is “grotty” bad. Juices were not refilled. Spices such as pepper/salt are only available in bags, as are the sweeteners for coffee (you actually only get them from a bistro). The selection is very manageable. It was only refilled upon request. There are tables available that are much too small and require a cuddle with the person sitting next to you. The parking ticket is paid for 24 hours, but from check-in at 3:00 p.m. to the desired check-out at 11:00 a.m. it is only 20 hours. There is an uncompromising insistence on returning the card and driving out the car on time. There is no loading/unloading zone. It is better to take a card directly in the parking garage. We had now booked a weekend in February. The hotel was not fully occupied. But we still only got a small room with a view of a house wall. There was a slight smell of drains coming from the bathroom that accompanied us the entire night. The fittings were not clean and, like the bathroom furniture, were past their prime. There were no hooks for towels in the bathroom. There were no toothbrush cups, no cups or various glasses for drinks, let alone a simple bottle opener. The reception is not staffed 24/7. The room temperature felt like a sauna and couldn't be regulated. The breakfast staff was very unfriendly and mostly busy with themselves. We were there with the dog, but had the impression that they weren't very welcome there. It had been snowing and the path to the hotel entrance was very slippery and only accessible via steps and a side entrance. Unfortunately, no thought was given to spreading. Payment via cell phone was not possible because the device only accepts cards (preferably only EC). So not very contemporary. Conclusion: “OK” for one night at a reduced price. But for a longer stay I would rather book another location.

We had a super great suite with 2 balconies (a roof terrace and a balcony) and had a great view of the Baltic Sea. The suite was very clean. It is a non-smoking hotel and smoking is allowed at the hotel entrance. We expected a little more from the breakfast. All around a great reception at the reception and for the evening the restaurant Sandbank is highly recommended.

We were in this hotel for the second time. We had a beautiful, large room with a sea view. The breakfast was excellent again. At the reception we were received very nicely. PRICE-PERFORMANCE is definitely right here and we will definitely be back.

Rooms are good. Breakfast is sufficient. Unfortunately, there is no way to treat yourself to a coffee in the afternoon. The restaurant is rented from 1 p.m., dinner is only possible on request, often closing earlier than advertised.

We had a great stay at the hotel. The location is great and you have a great sea view. What bothered us was the lack of room service. In the summer with a lot of sand in the room, this is very unpleasant. The cot was getting a bit old.
Breakfast was sufficient and delicious.

The location of the hotel is great, you are only a few steps away from the beach and the town. We had a room with a partial sea view, it was big enough. You can park directly opposite in the underground car park. The staff at the hotel is very friendly. Breakfast was good. Cleaning can be improved. Massive lime deposits on the tap and in the shower. High dust layer on bedside lamps. But still a successful short break.
