Novotel Erlangen in Erlangen

Stayed here during a business trip coinciding with the Bergkirchweih festival, so prices were significantly higher than the usual €60–70/night rate. The hotel is clean and functional, with a good location and convenient underground gated parking (€18/day) that’s easy to use with a validated ticket.

The gym is basic but had broken multi-gym equipment during my stay. There’s no pool, but a business center and complimentary Wi-Fi are available. Breakfast was a standout, excellent buffet spread, though a bit pricey at €24.

Rooms are simple and lack amenities like a fridge, microwave, safe, iron, or ironing board. Instead, there's a communal ironing room on the 4th floor. No coffee machine, just a small kettle with instant coffee and tea.

Only a single hand towel and a single regular towel were provided, which felt a bit minimal. The small flush button on the toilet didn’t work, and the sink drained very slowly.

The biggest issue was the bed. It was extremely soft and uncomfortable. It lacked proper support, and I ended up sleeping on a pile of pillows on the floor for the duration of my stay just to get some rest.

A strange policy. The hotel charged the full stay at check-in and then wouldn’t allow restaurant charges to be added to the room, requiring payment on the spot.

On the plus side, the staff were very helpful, friendly, and courteous, and all spoke English very well.

Overall, a decent business hotel if booked at standard rates, but expect limited in-room amenities.The bed comfort and lack of in-room amenities were significant drawbacks.

Small shower, small gym, no hair conditioner and/or body lotion, AC system really bad (maybe good on saving energy), door handle on the bathroom door was loose, room door needs significant force to close, good personnel, good breakfast, good food.

Large hotel with many business people. Dinner not high quality. Breakfast very busy but with a wide choice
