dasPaul Hotel in Nurnberg

On the whole we really enjoyed our stay here. Make sure you have the web link provided so you can open the doors. The front door opened every time easily however the room often had quite a delay. The room was extremely clean and tidy! With great space! There wasn’t much storage for clothes if staying for more than a few days. Kitchenette was well equipped and coffee provided for the coffee machine. Smart tv allowed us to connect to our own Netflix etc. Shower pressure was great. Plenty of plug sockets around the room for charging. The only negative was the mattress protector was plastic and felt very clinical and was noisy. Would absolutely stay here again, the location was BRILLIANT!

Mobile checkin.

Clubs nearby are load on Friday and Saturday nights; The check-in was not easy. The mobile check in didn’t work and the bott on WhatsApp just kept giving a different address to go to. But when I asked where to go it told me to look it up on google. Not customer service oriented for check in

We stayed at this hotel for a long weekend. The location is simply fantastic. The hotel is in the heart of the city. All the sights are within easy walking distance. The main train station is about a 15-minute walk, which is easily manageable even with suitcases. There are also countless restaurants and bars nearby, which can lead to some noisy nights, especially in nice weather. On the other hand, you practically fall out of the bar and into bed. The rooms are relatively small, but very nicely furnished. However, the cramped space also results in a few scratches on the walls, which doesn't look very nice. The air conditioning does its job very well: it cools, and the beds are comfortable to sleep in. The bathroom is a decent size and clean. What was very annoying, however, was the constantly fluctuating water temperature in the shower. It ranged from extremely hot to almost cold. The room also has a small kitchen with a microwave, stove, and sink. To check in and access your room, you log in to the hotel website and use your phone to open the front and room doors. However, the usual room cards are also available. For this, you have to go to the bar of the main building, "Das Paul" Hotel, which is just around the corner. This is where breakfast is served. Breakfast is a real highlight. I'm more of a buffet fan, but here you have to order from the menu. I was skeptical at first, but I have to say it's superbly prepared. There are various breakfast options, which are not only beautifully presented, but also taste incredibly good and keep you full for a long time. The staff at the breakfast bar were also extremely friendly and reserved the best seats with a direct view of the Pegnitz River for hotel guests. The hotel is definitely recommended for a city trip.

Just one bathroom make me uncomfortable. Our family are 4 members, take shower time so short..

Location was excellent, unit was spacious. Only down side: visitors in the unit above us came home at 1am and their footsteps were very loud!

Let's start with the positive: The room was really well equipped, all the furniture was OK, mini kitchen with fridge, hotplates, dishwasher, sink, oven, coffee machine (capsules available), air conditioning. All the furniture was in top order, nothing to complain about. The same goes for the bathroom. The room is the most important part of the stay, so the other points are secondary. Unfortunately, the room was a bit too small and the furniture was not arranged optimally, so the bathroom door, for example, didn't open all the way and it was generally quite cramped, but you can manage that. The hotel is in the city center, so there is no parking. A parking garage is about 100 meters away and costs 30 euros per night. I parked in the "Augustinerhof" (20 euros per night, about 400m walk, very convenient/large parking spaces). Breakfast is not served in the hotel, but in the "dasPaul" restaurant (about 100m). That's nice, but because everything is freshly prepared, it takes a bit longer (if you're in a hurry in the morning). The portions are quite large, so bring your hunger. What bothered me a little was the impersonal and completely "human" way the stay was handled. The hotel doesn't have a reception, so it was designed that way. The "reception" is via a friendly QR code. You enter your details (in the hallway) on the website you call up (okay) and are forced to pay the total amount for the stay before you've even seen the room (not really ok for me). You then receive a link and you can then use this website to open the door. So apparently you can't get in without a smartphone. Have some mobile data ready, I'll get to the hotel WiFi later. You open the door via the website (takes between 2 and 20 seconds). That worked so far. You need internet to open the door. The connection to the WiFi was, let's say, "tricky". Connection to the open hotel WiFi works. The mobile device should then open the login page. Works without a problem the first time. When you leave the house and re-enter it sometimes takes a lot of persuasion to get to the login page (there's the issue with the door again...), so turn the WiFi off and on again, connect to a different network, etc. Sometimes manually calling up the address 172.168.1.1 helps. Once you've happily arrived on the login page, you have to click the "Connect" button. Sometimes it works straight away, sometimes after the 5th time, sometimes more often... My record was 19 attempts. So: If you want to be sure that you can get into the room, have mobile data ready. Please don't get me wrong. I think technical development is great, but here I had the impression of a gimmick that doesn't represent real progress. All in all, the first point is the most important for me. :-)
