Pros: Great location, rooms and hotel in general clean and tidy.
Cons: Noisy, a little run down, unfriendly staff.

Stayed here for 3 nights on a trip to the city to visit family. Hotel chosen due to location and relatively low price... its very central and close the the main train station. However we were not expecting the Ritz. Upon arriving we checked in. The guy on reception was virtually mute, he didn't wish us a pleasant stay, didn't offer to help up with anything and gave off a very 'you're bothering me simply by being here' vibe. The lift up to the room (on the 6th floor) was shabby, the door seemed faulty to the point we almost abandoned it at took the stairs, plus the floor directory contained errors when compared to the buttons available. The Room itself was reasonable it was clean, tidy... however the mattress was uncomfortable (a topper had been added so clearly this was known) and there was a gap in the celling above the shower (not a big issue but it looked shabby). Worse still was the contestant hum of a air-conditioning unit of fan right outside the window, which ranged in volume from mildly annoying to downright distracting 24/7. At no point during our stay were we asked about our comfort by the staff or did we feel confident that if we raised these issues they would be addressed.

My advise is go somewhere else if you can.

The room is clean and the staffs are friendly. The location is very convenient, it is inside the old town and plenty of shops, restaurants, cafes.

Great location, good breakfast but the rooms are very plain, and the front desk staff were consistently surly except one woman after some encouragement. The dude in the kitchen was a nice bloke.

An employee at the Elsayed Hotel yells at guests during check-in (I recorded this for the hotel management), then waves them off to the elevator, calling them "bye-bye," as if talking to a colleague. He used profanity. This is the first time I've encountered such behavior. This is outrageous service for Platinum guests. He didn't inform us about breakfast times. He lied to the manager, saying a guest threw a passport at him and that they don't have priority check-in. A lie! 1) The guest checked in with his ID card, not his passport. 2) The guest couldn't have thrown anything at the employee because there was a window separating them. 3) There's a notice at the reception desk about priority check-in. The doors in the room are thin, so you can hear conversations in the hallway. The windows don't provide noise insulation from the street. The breakfast is modest, but good. The room was not cleaned during the stay.

As usual Ibis hotel, the location is convenient. Walkable from the main station (train station underground and exit by following tourist information center) or (ground level, cross the road, several traffic light)
The hotel is just next to the city wall tower. And walk 5mins, you will see the church St. Lorenz and Christmas market.
The hotel guest is helpful. Old / vintage furniture but practical.
Shower🚿 water power is low but hot enough for winter.

Not sure whether I will still book this hotel. However, by considering the location, the size of room at this price, I think it's still not a bad options. 👍

At 21:00 on dec 2nd 2025, I talked to the receptionist, Mo Elsayed, about there is only one trash bin in the bathroom, no trash bin in the bedroom in english. He said he does not understand "trash bin". I showed him the trash bin by the reception. He was suddenly annoyed and upset, and said this is a two star hotel, if you want something more, go to the five star hotel next door. Very rude. Yes, a great idea. But please refund me the remaining two days, and I will be happy to follow the advice from mr. Elsayed. If you notice the replies to one star reviews, Elsayed is one of them. He is titled as guest experience leader. Elsayed really offered me a great "experience". Ibis knows the management. It gives a right title to a right person. Keep the good job ibis!

Aftermath: after talking to both the manager and expedia, ibis agreed to fully refund me so that I am able to follow mr. elsayed's advice, find a five star hotel to stay. Looks like ibis has its own bottom line.

Hotel room is very simple but prices accordingly. Staff was great. The location is also great, quiet and just a few steps from the train station

Less than 10 mins walk to train station and car park. Hotel staff can issue exit car park ticket for overnight parking fee.

The hotel is conveniently located right in the city centre — just a stone’s throw away from the handicraft market and several major attractions, which makes it very easy to explore the area on foot.

However, the bathroom show clear signs of wear and tear, and overall maintenance could be improved.

One concern is security. There doesn’t seem to be dual or enhanced security measures in place, and the neighborhood can feel unsafe at night. It’s best to stay cautious if you’re returning late.

Staffs were so friendly and helpful, arranged a room with lift reached because they saw me having a big heavy luggage! Really thankful for their help!
