The only reason I am giving any star is because of the location.
Amazing view from the room.
But, the room is extremely small. Basic amenities like kettle etc. are missing. And it's also a lot weird that 3 to 4 times room service people opened the door while I was inside. This incident woke me up once. Found it quite scary and unprofessional too.

The Walfisch is very well located on the river, with great views over to the castle and vineyards. Our room (302) was spacious, bright and airy, the bathroom a bit tight but shower and towels good. Slept well. We had breakfast on our second morning and this was excellent - a very good choice and vegetarian options (other than yet more cheese!!). Located close to the 'sights' and the tram stop to the Hbf for rail travellers like us. Staff friendly and overall a good experience and would recommend. We were, however, disappointed that the restaurant was closed for 2 weeks from the day of our arrival (25/8), which seems odd as this is still the holiday season.

We stayed one night in the room at the top which was a double for €130 a night and an additional €25 for an extra bed for our daughter. Given the hotel's great location on the river and the great view from the (sadly a little small) window) that was good value..Room did (contrary to warnings on some reviews) have good air conditioning and our room, if not "large" was bright and pleasant with a nice modern bathroom. Service was friendly and the decor is a nice mix of tradition and modern with a very nice breakfast room/restaurant (the reception should be redecorated in more traditonal style as its attempt to be "modern" doesnt reallt match the nice restaurant or setting). Breakfast and drinks are a little expensive and here is where.tou need to be careful as it is very easy to clock up a large bill drinking beer on the very nice hotel riverside terrace. Strongly recommend - we will be back.

Stayed here for three nights. Rooms are small but that is the norm for older hotels in Europe. The location is excellent with a beautiful view of the fortress and Kappele on the hills across the river. Staff are friendly and professional. Breakfast in the morning is a self-serve of fruit, baked goods scrambled eggs, bacon with coffee machine. Vending machine has water, sodas etc but there is a small store a couple blocks away with more items. Great value for money

Unfortunately a lot of construction, so work trucks etc in front of the entrance. Barebones in room; no coffee machine, 2 tissues left in the box, no bathroom supplies except for soap, one pillow each and rooms only get serviced every 3 days! I understand not replacing towels and sheets every day to be “environmentally friendly” but straightening sheets and making sure tissues are filled shouldn’t be too much to ask? On a positive note, the staff are very friendly and view is lovely.

We were very pleased with this hotel. The location was good and convenient for walking to many things in the town. We had a room on the second floor that looked out on the river and fortress with a wonderful view! The room and bathroom were both spacious. The breakfast buffet was very good and they made us custom cooked scrambled eggs. Their parking lot was across from the hotel.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It felt like we were staying in a bed and breakfast with a lovely restaurant. We were there for two nights and had a nice visit and really enjoyed eating in the restaurant one night. The breakfast was very enjoyable as well! The staff were very helpful with suggestions.

Rooms are average. Service is decent. Breakfast options are not that great. Nothing to complain though. A good deal compared to price tag. Location is priceless. Always opt for a room with castle view.
