Almyra Hotel in Fiskardho

Unfortunately, our stay at Hotel Almyra in Fiskardo was very disappointing and fell far short of expectations. Despite being advertised as a 4-star hotel, the standard was more in line with a 2- or 3-star property at best. The rooms are outdated and in need of serious renovation. The bathroom had a cheap plastic shower curtain instead of a proper enclosure, and we experienced issues with hot water. The baby cot provided was unsafe — the frame was broken, and instead of a mattress, we found two towels covered with a sheet. Completely unacceptable. Breakfast was one of the worst we’ve ever had while traveling — extremely limited selection, poor quality products, capsule coffee, and an inedible scrambled egg. The swimming pool was colder than the sea, and the kids’ pool was particularly icy, making it unusable for small children. We had lunch at the hotel four times, and every meal was mediocre at best: dry, bland, and ingredients often did not match what we ordered. Eventually, we decided to shorten our stay by two nights. We were refunded for only one. Despite the owner being present at the hotel throughout our stay, she never approached us to ask what had gone wrong or even acknowledge the situation. This lack of hospitality was quite striking. The hotel is far from a 4-star standard, and it doesn’t offer the warmth and care you might expect from a family-run guesthouse either. The positives? A good location near Fiskardo and beautiful beaches, a nice view from both the hotel and our room, and a kind word for Angela from the staff, who was the only person making a real effort to improve the guest experience. Overall, we cannot recommend this hotel. It has potential, but there’s a long way to go before it lives up to its advertised quality.
