Reviews
Cons: There was no in-unit fan or air cooling system. As a result people open the windows to let in cool air. We did not open the windows when we stayed due to the number of bugs outside, so it was incredibly warm and difficult to sleep comfortably. Despite our best efforts, there were 4-5 spiders in the sleeping area and several flies.
The only downside to this property is that it was out in the country, away from everything. So grab what you need before retiring for the evening. We were slightly disappointed that our cabin rental was in the middle of the other rentals, so we really didn’t have a nice scenic view. Our windows faced the other cabins and felt we needed to keep the curtains drawn. Too bad the cabins couldn’t be arranged to not look right into the other cabins.
Our stay at Afternoon Cottages in Iceland was truly a one-of-a-kind experience. Honestly, we weren’t sure what to expect, but we were blown away by how cozy and charming the cottage was. It had almost a full kitchen, super comfy beds, a nice bathroom with plenty of hot water — everything we needed for a comfortable stay.
It was snowing during our visit, and the views were absolutely stunning — surrounded by snow-covered mountains and a peaceful river stream nearby. To top it all off, we woke up around 2 AM and caught a glimpse of the northern lights right from our cottage!
The place was spotless and clearly well cared for. If you're looking for a cozy, beautiful spot to experience Icelandic nature, I can’t recommend Afternoon Cottages enough.
The main room in the cabin is comfortable. Has a little kitchen and a good-sized deck. Bring some food if you're going to stay any length of time. The shower is small, but so is the water heater, so maybe that all works out. If you're a plus size .... may not work out.
