Wisma Shalom Guesthouse in Jakarta

Ok. I want to provide a fair balanced review. The area outside is a little "run down" and the hotel itself has a few issues - But overall it's great value for money. Don't expect 5* accommodation. But the service is great. Obviously because it's cheaper there are a few issues, they provide WiFi which works, but it's not the best - useable but need to keep logging in.
The owner is investing in the property upgrading the rooms and hallways.
The location doesn't have a lot nearby, but there is local shops, laundry and hardware stores.
Grab is useful for travelling and the hotel is located centrally to the city.

The hotel has decent priced food service. the staff are helpful (they can speak a little English but don't expect the best conversations ... Google translate is useful). Overall I highly recommend the hotel - contact them directly for a good price (they're on major websites who add commission etc on the price).
It's nice that this is a "part of the family" feeling when you stay here - with community eating areas.

10-minute-walking-diastance from Pasar Senen Train Station, suitable for people who have early morning train schedule but willing to come the night prior to departure

Perfect hotel for me. It's cheap but I know the rooms are livable. I stayed here for over a year and setup as an apartment leaving stuff when returning to the UK. But now I'm checked out I will continue to book when I'm in Jakarta.
