Ancora Cortina in Cortina d'Ampezzo

We stayed here for the 2026 Winter Paralympics. We were treated exceptionally at this beautiful hotel. Our balcony offered breathtaking views of the Dolomites. Wheelchair accessibility was seamless. Top-notch service and delicious food at both the restaurant and bar. The staff was amazing; personable, friendly and helpful. 10/10 experience!

Overall, this is a very nice hotel. The location is virtually unbeatable if you want to be in central Cortina. We were in one of there larger suites and the views of the mountains were breathtaking - it did back out onto the alley side, and occasionally you could here staff, or neighbors potentially, taking glass bottles out - if noise bothers you I'd be specific about your room direction. The things that were great - the Spa is wonderful, really a 5-star space. The decor overall is amazing, and I loved the bar. We were there for the Olympics and they created custom drinks for each past Winter Games which was so creative!! The cleaning staff was very detailed and caring with our things and that was greatly appreciated. Also the room layout was amazing, with a tub to dream about!! Also the property arranged staff to pick us up at our transport and take us to the hotel, which was greatly appreciated. My only reservations with the hotel is because it is a 5-star hotel, and quite an expensive one at that, so my standard is very high! The main thing was on the technology side, the TV-casting didn't really work, and more importantly the internet was very slow and sometimes not fully functional, which for the price shouldn't be an issue. Finally, we worked with the hotel to make sure my partner, who is vegan, would be able to eat. They were very responsive! However at breakfast one morning they accidentally fed him regular yogurt, which unfortunately put us out of commission for one of our mornings due to an allergic reaction. Most hotels we stay at of this caliber have staff really prepared for this things so it was a bit of a surprise. All that said, they took the situation very seriously, and prepared a dinner for us to make up for it, which we greatly appreciated. Staff was super on top of it for the rest of our stay, and we really saw the effort. Mistakes happen, with allergies it can be hard, but I really appreciated their responsiveness. Overall a really great stay, with a few tweaks I'd call it perfect!

When we were last in Cortina about two years ago, our lament was that there was not a single top level hotel in all of Cortina - truly not one. Perhaps due to the run-up to the coming Winter Olympics, this has changed significantly with the pending opening of the Mandarin Oriental and a few renovations to older hotels. Ancora Cortina is one of the latter, having been closed for three years for what has been a fantastic renovation. While the exterior of the hotel looks traditional, this belies the more modern but tastefully fun interiors in the public spaces on the ground floor. These were full of color and texture, with much to look at and evident high quality. The breakfast room was simpler but elegant whereas the dining room was mostly white and elegant. Truly a very well-designed interior. This continued in our room, which was one of the smaller "suites" (so-called but still only one room - perhaps room #206?). The room was beautifully appointed, with a quite spacious bathroom (both shower and separate bath as well as a separate toilet closet), a small balcony and a (perhaps overly furnished) small sitting area. Truly very comfortable! While we did not eat dinner at the hotel, the included breakfasts were excellent. Breakfast was offered a la carte (though included in the hotel rate), but we are unsure if this was due to this being near the end of the season and there being so very few people at the hotel (and thus not appropriate for a buffet) or if this is the normal approach - but, though less varied than a buffet, it was excellent and sufficient nonetheless. Our server was also reliably cheerful both mornings. In fact, the staff was excellent all around. Well done Ancora to give us a 5-star experience finally in Cortina!

We were welcomed into this recently renovated hotel in a polite and professional manner by the friendly staff, especially Miriana, who was always smiling and helpful. The cocktails were beautifully made, accompanied by delicious finger food. Our aperitif concluded with a short tour of the restaurant and other truly interesting rooms. What can I say? I'll be back. Well done everyone!

From the minute we arrived at this new property in Cortina D’Ampezzo the staff made us feel at home. From Brenda who welcomed us to Federico who assisted us with any questions we had, the service was impeccable. Everyone we encountered was friendly and eager to assist. The GM should be so proud of his staff! The food is amazing as well as the location. The rooms are beautiful. We were lucky to be assigned a suite that has a huge balcony overlooking the main square. I’ve traveled the world and this by far is in my top 5 hotels I’ve ever stayed in. It also was my birthday and they arranged a private birthday cake making event for us with their pastry chef. It was so much fun!!! We will return for ski season!

The Ancora Hotel and Restaurant were recently renovated in 2025. The location now boasts more modern, elegant interiors with great attention to detail. The terrace overlooking the basilica's bell tower is stunning, perfect for aperitifs, lunches, and dinners. The cuisine, with excellent dishes and desserts, is highly recommended! A spa is also available for guests.
