Reviews
Okay, resort isn’t actually in Rome… but it is only 2 hours 30 mins drive from Rome and 2 hours from Naples! This really is a brilliant family friendly resort, which we keep on returning to year after year, and there’s very good reasons for that. Firstly, you can fly directly to Rome, which means you can top and tail your trip with a visit to the world’s most beautiful and captivating city. Secondly, the Romans and Neapolitans tend to use the resort only at the weekends, which means that you could pretty much have the resort to yourselves Monday to Thursday. Thirdly, flights to Rome and car rental are relatively inexpensive during the winter months. Accommodation near the ski resort is also plentiful but we’d recommended staying in one of the nearby beautiful chocolate box villages such as Pescocostanzo or Rivisondoli, although this does mean a 15 mins drive to the resort and back every day. A ski pass for the area, which covers 90km of runs and 24 lifts, costs £724 for a family of 4 for 4 days as we tend not to ski on the Fridays when the crowds from Rome and Naples start to arrive. Finally, and arguably the most important advantage of skiing in the heart of Italy, is the food! Downsides? Well not too many I can think of, but arguably as it’s further south than the major European ski resorts, there’s always the chance of less snow. But over the 25 years I’ve been going to Alto Sangro, I can only remember a couple of times when there was a limited amount of snow, and I’m pretty sure there were also similar issues in the Alps and the Dolomites.

Beautiful mountains, fantastic food and coffee....all Italian so no tacky touristy places... easy to get bye on English alone
Parking near the slopes (100m) €4 all day... bargain. Cheap lift passes.
Very easy to get to. 100% recommend it. Went yesterday and although no snow at the moment they had enough man made to make the day enjoyable.
There are different level for ski, easy roads, medium level and also track for expert only ;
There are also teacher in case you want to learn and all the ski, snow and snowboard equipment can be rent daily or weekly .
The top mountain view it’s absolutely amazing
Beware you can only use the toilet and go inside the café or restaurant using a FFP2 mask.
All pistes were nicely kept even at warm temperatures.
Altough the points system to use the ski lift and chairs is very poor. It is IMPOSSIBLE to top up other than increments of 25 points.
In our case we had 2 cards with 20 points left on each brcause we used 2 different chairs to go up, when we tried TOP UP at the "biglietteria" the young lady told me that this was not possible and when I asked to see the manager I was told to GET LOST.
