Affittacamere San Nicola d'amare in Bari

There was no contact with the owner prior to arrival . So when we finally arrived a man down the road helped us. He found a woman , the sister , who spoke no English and made me wait while she made endless phone calls . There was a big problem but I still don’t know what it was . She finally took us to our room. I thought I had booked a room with a balcony as is in the photos . But it was ground floor. The sink and the shower drains were both blocked . It was adequate and clean but basic and expensive compared to where we have been and stayed . On our last night the owner come to our door after 8 pm . There was no ‘hello’ . She just asked for payment . I would even say she was rude . She had no English but used the phone translator , thats ok . She sent a very big man down to our room and I paid him . I have had 14 days of lovely people and experiences but this was not one . The location is right in the middle of the old town , but I would recommend you sacrifice that for some pleasantries.

Two stars as location was great right beside the basilica and the breakfast in the morning was good. Unfortunately the location is also extremely noisy, late at night and first thing in the morning. Plus while the sheets were spotless, they felt damp, as did the whole room
