Relais Santa Maria in Martina Franca

What a wonderful three-night stay we had in Martina, in no small part to Sara and Francisco, who were amazing. The room itself was fantastic; we've stayed in Trulos in Italy before, but being in the heart of the old town as well felt almost fairytale. The room was superbly fitted out, and Sara's decorations made it extra special.

Had a wonderful three-night stay in Martina. The apartment itself was fantastic; tastefully restored with traditional lime-coated stone walls and ceilings, it felt full of history. The room was superbly fitted out, very clean, comfortable with air conditioning, a fridge, and Sara's decorations made it extra special. The bed was very comfortable, and even the shower room was awesome, being stone-lined. The room was well appointed; there was a Nespresso on hand – once I got the hang of it – for coffee on demand, and there was even a bottle of wine to chill out with. Sara and Francisco were amazing hosts; friendly and helpful, and always on hand, only a WhatsApp message away. They were more than happy to organise local car parking and help with moving luggage to and from the apartment. The breakfasts they provided were great; fresh pastries, orange juice, ham and cheese, and there was always plenty of bottled water on hand. Being in the heart of the old town as well made it feel extra special. The apartment is only a short walk from the old town central piazza, with plenty of quality restaurants, cafes and shops on hand. Helpful after enjoying late-night Italian cucina (with copious limoncello), but thankfully located in a quiet backstreet away from the bustle. The locals of Martina have always been friendly and welcoming, even when getting slightly ‘lost’ in the maze of small streets looking for that elusive grand Baroque palazzo or church to visit. The community open-air concert led by a wind orchestra from the Italian Air Force (!) was a highlight of the visit; the main town square was full of locals and tourists enjoying the evening performance – quite magical and romantic. Definitely going to book Relais Santa Maria again.

The absolute best place to stay in Martina Franca. The best location, beautiful room, friendliest hosts, and a great breakfast. 5 stars are not enough.

This was a big mistake to reserve this place. On the website, it looks quite nice. But we never asked a question, "Do you have a window?" This TINY room is the size of a hobbit hole, and does NOT have ANY windows. It is very inconvenient and not inexpensive. Neither the place's cuteness nor the excellent service and attention provided by the owners can compensate for its deficiencies.

If only all places were like this. The couple that run this place go above and beyond to ensure a perfect stay. Set in the old town, the room is as authentic as it gets yet still very comfortable. Th location is impossible to beat, every thing is within a short walk.
The breakfast was simply amazing. Fresh local produced delivered at a time to suit. The variety and portions were incredible - no need for lunch!
Parking is a 10 min walk away and no worries about finding the place as they met us at the car park and walked us to the property.
Rare to find a place like this. Would definitely stay again if in the region.

She picked me up at the train station and brought me to the adorable little apartment on a quiet side street but in the middle of this quiet charming town. Sara gave all the information I needed and brought me breakfast that was so plentiful that it lasted for the next day breakfast and part of lunch. I can't imagine staying anywhere else in Martina Franca.

She picked me up at the train station and brought me to the adorable little apartment on a quiet side street but in the middle of this quiet charming town. Sara gave all the information I needed and brought me breakfast that was so plentiful that it lasted for the next day breakfast and part of lunch. I can't imagine staying anywhere else in Martina Franca.

What a wonderful stay in Martina Franca! We read the great reviews about Relais Santa Maria and they were spot on. Just outstanding! The room was charming, well appointed and so beautiful. It captured the warmth and history of the area. And our hosts, Sara and Francesco couldn't have been nicer and more accommodating. When we arrived in our rental car, they guided us to a parking spot and insisted on carrying our luggage to the apartment. Once inside, we were greeted with baskets of food, snacks and wine. The mini fridge was filled with drinks. The bed was super comfortable and the bathroom was large with his and her accommodations. Sara was there the following mornings with a superb breakfast and always greeted us with a big smile. After breakfast, walk around the corner and you are in the center of activity for shopping, dining and attractions. Sara was also in constant communication to make sure we had everything we needed and that all was good. This is one of special place with special owners. Thank you, Sara and Francesco!
