Albergo Diffuso Monopoli in Monopoli

A nice place to stay in Monopoli. They have a wide range of apartments in the old town, which is convenient when exoloring the city.

We loved our stay at Alberto Diffuso. Great price amazing location in the old town not far from Piazza Palmieri. We had a car rented which was a bit of a walk each day to the free parking lot on the other side of town but it was good exercise. I would definitely stay here again.

We had an apartment here and it was good. However, basic utilities in the kitchen were missing and they expect you to have cleaned everything before leaving.
They gave us a babybed which was nice.
The room was super noisy. Even though the room was towards a sidestreet, we were woken up between 6-7 AM every morning by various noises. E.g. workers, glass bottle collection/emptying container, etc. this was balcony doors and windows closed.
Very central. But expect stairs to apartments, also for ground floor.

Monopoli does trash sorting on specific days, be aware of that.

Breakfast was decent but not great. Seems to be low quality.

Great location and good value for money. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was big and well equipped. My friend and I were welcomed by Nicoletta, who was sweet and made the check in process super smooth. She also gave us great tips on beaches and restaurants. Avoid the other receptionist though (not sure what her name is but she has a fringe and wears glasses) – she's unfriendly and stroppy.

Where do I begin? The ladies at reception were NOT at all welcoming, far from friendly and NOT at all accommodating. We had advised them of our arrival at 12:30 pm with the hopes of an earlier check-in. Check-out is at 10:00am while check-in is at 4:00pm. Don’t tell me they could not have made arrangements to have our room ready. Important to note that they close at 1:00 and reopen at 4:00pm. We were exhausted from our drive and had to wait over 3 .5 hours to get the room keys in the extreme heat. The air conditioning didn’t cool down the apartment at all. That said, we didn’t sleep well since we were literally dying of heat. The lights in the apartment are set to go off automatically so we were constantly having to turn the lights back on. We also ran out of toilet paper and were told to pass by reception rather than having them bring it to us. Noting that they are closed in the afternoon and reception is in a separate building altogether. We also had to pull out the trash to avoid any service charges. Disappointed with the breakfast. Limited selection and tasteless. Silvia and the other girl at reception were very “antipatici” as you say in Italian. Bothered and with long faces. The only friendly face was Mario.

If you want to walk to all Monopoli has to offer this is a great hotel. The breakfast was wonderfu,, the room while up stairs with no elevator was two or three layers and a complete apartment with balconies. The staff was hospitable but like so many smaller hotels, you need to provide them with an arrival time since staff is not full time. All amenities were top drawer and spotlessly clean, everything worked. Recommended, the location in Old Towns, where you walk to everything, is so very important--even though our car was parked (free) at a marina 1500m away.

This “hotel” has many different rooms/suites/apartments available all over town, and we as a couple stayed in the wonderful Garibaldi suite overlooking the lively main plaza. The bedroom is spacious and pretty, the bathroom is modern and well-equipped, coffee and tea are supplied, a little sitting room is between the bedroom and bathroom, and the towel array is generous. But the highlight is the romantic balcony on the second floor overlooking the main plaza. It’s the perfect spot for breakfast, a glass of wine, a takeaway dinner. You are shaded from onlookers by foliage, but you can peek through it as well as enjoy the music from the plaza — morning and night! We wished we could have stayed more than one night. As with many of the “old cities” in this region, you do have to park your car outside the old city. But it’s free and reception will send a man with a car to bring you and your luggage to the central reception office. From there, you walk to wherever your accommodation is, so you’ll be rolling luggage through the streets. Our room was up a flight of stone stairs. Obviously best for people with lighter luggage! (But more help may be available if you need it; we didn’t ask.) Reception staff is very helpful.

A great apartment, clean, comfortable and in a fantastic location. Sylvia and the team made the stay super easy and were so helpful and accommodating when we needed to arrange taxis, car hire and other recommendations. A great base for exploring Puglia.
