Hotel Metropol in Cattolica

I stayed at this hotel with my daughter, booking through an agency, and unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing.

From the moment we arrived, I noticed a clear difference in treatment between us and the regular guests: the staff interacted with them in a friendly and attentive manner, while towards us, the attitude was cold and distant, almost as if we were "transparent."

Regarding the food, the hotel description indicated a savory breakfast and a daily menu with a choice of meat or fish. I only eat eggs in the morning, and, believing they weren't available, for five days I ate almost exclusively yogurt for breakfast, as I don't consume cured meats or cheeses. Only one day did I find hard-boiled eggs on the buffet, and only towards the end of my stay did I discover that you could request them—but it wasn't communicated or otherwise indicated. Furthermore, by 9:00 a.m. (despite breakfast being served until 10:00 a.m.), many items, including bread, were already sold out and were replaced only after I pointed this out to the staff.

The restaurant service was even more disappointing: several dishes were overly salty, some orders arrived incorrectly or even burned (like a grilled steak served completely dry and charred), others were never served despite having been ordered the day before (like the mackerel and almond-crusted fish). One evening, replacing a dish I'd ordered but wasn't available, I was served a plate with ham and two pieces of cheese: the ham was cut so thick it was truly unappealing.
I often felt like my requests were considered a nuisance—and the only real request I'd made was simply to avoid garlic, to which I'm allergic.
For my daughter, who is small and doesn't eat much, I asked, like other parents, for a simple pasta dish or pasta with meat sauce.

After a few days, I decided to forgo full board and switch to breakfast only, choosing lunch and dinner elsewhere due to the poor quality and variety of the meals.

Finally, the room was extremely small—although this was a minor issue, given that we were spending most of the day out.

In short, I found the treatment unprofessional and discriminatory toward new guests. It was, unfortunately, one of the worst hotels I've stayed at in recent years.

Furthermore, I'm still waiting for a refund for the unused full-board days, despite numerous requests through the agency I booked with.

Overall, a very disappointing experience.
