Hotel Desiree in Cesenatico

We stayed at this hotel for two nights because it was convenient for Mirabilandia.
Starting with the bedroom, and assuming we knew this when booking, air conditioning wasn't included in the price. As for the fan in the center of the room, we weren't sure if it was included or not and if it worked.
The bathroom was tiny, and the shower stall needed a new construction, with a water drain in the center of the bathroom.
In terms of style and amenities, we're stuck 20 years ago—refresh!
The breakfast buffet was nothing special, offering croissants, cakes, and biscuits, despite the lack of identification tags. Cappuccino, coffee, and juice were served from dispensers. However, I should point out that milk, yogurt, and butter were left at room temperature (damn this cold chain... especially at 35°C).
Regarding check-in: we checked in in the evening, handed in our documents, and didn't return them right away. We had to ask for them the next morning, otherwise we would have been out and about without them. The receptionist "threw" us the bundle of documents for the rest of the guests and told us to look for them ourselves.
Moreover, they weren't kept on the desk but on the counter where anyone could take them. Zero privacy.

Unfortunately, our experience at this hotel was decidedly disappointing. Although there was air conditioning, the owner turned it off whenever he pleased. He also charged us for the garage and air conditioning, even though we didn't use them fully. The owner didn't accept card payments, only cash, and he didn't issue a receipt. The breakfast was good, but the staff was rude. Furthermore, the owner decided where to park our car, without giving us any choice. In conclusion, a highly inadvisable experience.

We stayed 2 nights, a nightmare. Rooms not soundproofed Uncomfortable beds and low pillows Point this out to the owner and he says that you are used to sleeping badly. Terrible breakfast. No water even though you asked for it, undrinkable cappuccino from the machines and we always had a stomach ache. There were many of us and we all felt bad. In the room the water came out from under the toilet and there was no hot water. I think the owner has some memory problems.. our reservation could not be found even though it was made with Mirabilandia. There are many hotels nearby, go elsewhere.

We arrived after noon and found a handwritten sign on the entrance door asking us to call cell phones because the door was locked. When they let us in, the lady told us the owner was taking a nap and that she was somewhere else, so that's why they had to keep the door closed. That's already a bad start. Then they gave us a family room (we were traveling with my husband and three children, ages 4, 6, and 8) with a double bed, a single bed, and a bunk bed. The top bed folded down against the wall. To get up, you had to put an iron ladder with an iron spike that was wedged into the structure, which was extremely dangerous since it wasn't stable at all. Considering we were traveling with small children, it was even more dangerous. Upon arriving at the room, we ran into the cleaning lady in the hallway with a shopping cart full of sheets to iron, with the bathroom door open because the poor lady, who was ironing sheets, couldn't stand the heat in the ironing room and had the cart right in the guest hallway. Just then, the owner appeared and rudely told our children not to make a mess in the room, even though we were just opening the door. The place has air conditioning, but they charge for it separately, which we thought was in very bad taste, not because of the cost, but because it was the height of the summer. After some inconvenience, we switched rooms to two rooms (which was what we had paid for). I stayed in a three-bed room with the children, and one of the beds wasn't even made; it only had a bedspread and no sheets! We had to sleep in two beds. The infamous air conditioning makes an unbearable noise that keeps you from sleeping. As if that weren't enough, the bathroom doesn't even meet the standards of a 3-star hotel, measuring less than 4 square meters. The shower is practically nonexistent, as it has folding shutters that make the toilet unusable when closed. The bathroom is completely wet and has no slip resistance. The common stairs have filthy carpet, and there's hardly any staff to assist you. The owner's daughter or the owner is always alone, and as you can see from other reviews, he's very rude and can also be seen from his responses to comments left by other guests, both on this platform and elsewhere. Unfortunately, we're not the only ones, and worse yet, we won't be the last to have a horrible experience here. We had a reservation for 4 nights but only stayed for 1. The next day, we ran away from this place.

Terrible, absolutely not recommended. It feels like being in a prison, where the owner constantly makes it clear that you're bothering him and charges you something. Please read the owner's responses to the bad reviews on Google or other social media to understand how the owner treats his guests. On Monday, I will file a complaint with the Italian health authorities because, after sleeping one night in that trap, my youngest son developed a skin rash he'd never had on any trip. I arrived at that trap through a Mirabilandia reservation, thinking it was a classic 3-star hotel on the Riviera Romagna, where there isn't much luxury but the people are friendly and treat you well. But I never would have imagined being mistreated and insulted the way I felt in that "establishment." We left after the first night, even though I had prepaid for 4 nights. The owner even threatened me online for leaving a 1-star review; nothing like that had ever happened to me. Don't go there; there are thousands of hotels around where you'll probably get better service for the same price.
