Hotel Excelsior San Marco in Bergamo

Not a 4 star hotel. And NOT Adult Only, as advertised on British booking sites. The hotel is currently under refurbishment and we requested a twin room, we were in an older room which was very dated but preference was twin room over a newer room with a double so we were fine with this. When we arrived to our room, the chair fabric was torn and there was an iron burn mark on the carpet. There was an adjoining door and we could hear the people next door arguing and going to the toilet. At breakfast we realised it was indeed family friendly. One of us were bitten by a suspected poisonous spider in bed, three bites which resulted in a trip to the pharmacy, some antibiotic cream, and a second trip to the GP for more medication when we got home. Hotel staff apologised but because we were leaving the same day they weren't too concerned. Said they would fumigate for the next person. Reception staff friendly enough, bar staff super kind & the breakfast was good, although not as peaceful as we’d have liked! Good location to walk to / get the feniculore to the Citta Alta but a 15/20min walk from the atmosphere of the Citta Bassa. View from the room made the trip, despite us being the only balcony on the 7th floor without chairs to enjoy it.
