The rooms were very nice, the bathrooms big enough, and the breakfast ample. They had nice pastries and tea. The location is central to many restaurants with a lot of activity into the night. It felt safe and walkable. They helped us arrange a taxi to the train station. The hotel smelled heavenly with their mass of jasmine in bloom.

Great boutique hotel at the banks of the canal.
Can be noisy at night so make sure to get a garden-view room.
Location is not too central so take this into account. The coffee at breakfast was too lukewarm, but the food itself was great with good variety.

Overall we had a very nice stay there.

We have just returned from a family break with two of our teenage children. This hotel is superb. We had canal view rooms and, yes you can hear the nightlife from the wonderful/ vibrant Navigli area,..however it didnt negatively impact our stay and we loved having the bars, restaurants, and the monthly sunday antique market right on our doorstep. We walked almost everywhere (a little over 20 mins to the Last Supper and under 30 mins to the Duomo, all flat through interesting areas). However the hotel is well positioned for the tram and metro services.

The rooms are well decorated, comfortable and good sizes. The staff work so hard to make the guests happy.

We will definitely be back.

Our first trip to Milan and we started our journey with a stay at this fabulous hotel. Starting with a phone call from the US to clear up a reservation issue prior to arriving, right up until the moment a taxi was secured for us as we departed, the staff were all kind, accommodating, and attentive. Our room was impeccably clean, our morning breakfast offered espresso to hard boiled eggs to pastries to meats and cheeses. This meal was the perfect way to start our day. We travel frequently and in my mind, it is the generosity of the staff which always sets the stage for a stay. I highly recommend Maison Borella! Grazzie Mille to all who work here!

Stayed with my family for 2 days.

Great location (the hotel is situated right on the canals), however I certainly do not recommend staying here if you have a big family and a lot of luggage since parking is literally non-existent.

Another thing I quite enjoyed was the interior which I found to be very atmospheric and cozy. Great garden in the centre of the building too.

Aside from that, the breakfast was quite weak and consisted of a few pastries, some cold cuts, vegetables and coffee (at an additional cost which is very unusual for a four-star hotel).

The most concerning situation occurred on the last day, when the cleaning staff literally started packing up our things without our notice because we were 30 minutes late to checkout (keep in mind that we notified the reception desk of that and they seemed to acknowledge our request). We were unpleasantly surprised by all of this and received no adequate explanation from the staff. Moreover, the staff member at the reception desk was rather unpleasant and borderline rude. At least they were kind enough to help us bring down the bags and get them to the car which was waiting 50 metres away from the hotel.

The hotel is listed as a four-star property, but in reality, it would be more accurately rated as a three-star. Aside from a lounge and a restaurant, there were no other facilities available. There was also no coffee or tea provided in the rooms.

The breakfast was very typical of Italy, primarily consisting of sweet pastries, croissants, and toast. There was a very limited selection of toppings, with little to no options for items like bacon. The coffee was weak and served from a thermos, and if you wanted a cappuccino, it came at an additional cost. As a traveler from the Nordics, this was a disappointing breakfast experience.

We had two rooms, both of which were fairly worn and showed signs of ingrained dirt, especially on the doors and other surfaces.

On the positive side, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel’s location is excellent – right along the canal in the lively Navigli district, surrounded by plenty of restaurants and bars. It’s also just a short 5-minute walk to the nearest metro station.

Great rooms, especially the bathrooms, and nice courtyard for breakfast and dining. Great locations in Navigli near plenty of cafes and restaurants. Highly recommend

Fun, bohemian style hotel right on a canal with lots of restaurants steps away. Common areas are stylishly decorated and the outdoor back patio is a quiet refuge from the bustling streets. Very nice breakfast included. Our room was perfectly nice, except the bathroom door wouldn't close without picking it up and the air conditioning was off for the season so the room was hot. Unfortunately, there were no screens on the windows and Milan is known for mosquitos. I would suggest inquiring about the AC before booking if temp is important to you.

Whose idea was to put the family room facing the main street? Honestly, it is beyond stupidity plus not telling people when booking the room on the phone that “hey, with a 5 year old kid don’t book this room” is mean. The party goes by the canal until 2am, then at 5.30am the binmen empty the glass bottle bins. For 290€ per night the floor was dirty, the showerhaed had a thick layer of limescale on it like it was never cleaned in the past few years…. on the positive side there are rooms not facing the street and the concept of the hotel is nice. The reception area and around is designed perfectly.
