Hotel Milano in Santa Caterina Valfurva

We came with a travel agency. The hotel is really old fashioned and in a state of mild decay. They state a 3 star rating but there are a few problems. The water wasn't warm it was more like room temperature or even cold. So bathing after skiing was really uncomfortable. The tap water was rusty when we first came but after a while it was ok. The rooms were small, without proper light and the windows were not tight so it was cold in the room at night. The heating in the room couldn't be adjusted in any way. The room was generally very dirty and had a weird smell. The sheets were stained. Although this was weird the staff was generally very nice. The rooms trash can was emptied every day but they didn't bring any new toilet paper when it was missing. Breakfasts were good, with a wide range of food to choose from. Diners were consisting of 3 meals. An appetizer - pasta or something else, a main course (sometimes smaller then the pasta ) and a dessert. Generally the food was really good. Overall the hotel needs a restoration and it wouldn't be all that bad, I'm not a posh person, but the price was pretty high for this kind of hotel. I would not give it 3 stars, more like 2 stars. They should at least clean their rooms and get the water warm.

The worst experience in italian mountains. First day and food is complete disaster.
Tiny portion, they saving on anything they can, no option at all and horrible looking meals. Oily pasta with aubergine and then tiny 3 millimetres thin meat with same aubergine! After all day off skiing you expect to have nice meal and not hungry family. 90% of people doesn't even eat aubergine, how can you serve that and not give other option for kids!!
Rooms are simple and small, no space for skiing clothes where to hang them and no shelf anywhere. Hotel inside is just stuck in communist era. I guess we are going to be starving even we paid for dinner service and have to spend all money for food somewhere else. Definitely not what we paid for, never coming back.

Good location mid way between the gondola, and the chairlift in Santa Caterina. this hotel will appeal to the budget traveller. The food.is a serious let down with this hotel, but at time of posting I understand the management is in the process of changing so this may have changed.
