Far from town. Large rooms but very moderate decoration. Clean but very low quality breakfast.

Hotel fairly modern, but lacked facilities, like a swimming pool with spa and bar to relax in after a hot day in town. Rooms are fairly spartan in terms of decor and comfort. Not much in area to investigate. Probably ok for single night business users, but could do better for holiday makers, which we were.

We stayed here on the recommendation of friends who stayed here previously. The hotel is clean and modern with parking on premise. You will need transportation to get to Lucca city center. Parking available on the outskirts of town but lots of walking involved. Very nice hotel, ended up here due to our car breaking down. They kindly gave us the last twin room. They also gave us a map of Lucca and advised the quickest way to walk there. Room was very nice.

nice and kind reception, tried to listen what I wanted , and breakfast was also ok, the hotel is in walking distance to famous Lucca fortress .. and just beside there’s mid sized supermarket and bit further distance there’s big esselunga so you can choose whichever you want to go or buy … I enjoyed the stay and might come back to stay in Lucca

This is a lovely hotel in the most beautiful city. We spent three days in Lucca decompressing after our daughter’s wedding. The hotel was well-situated on a lovely square with cafes all around. The staff were amazing, breakfast was excellent. The only very slight downside was the room layout was a bit quirky and dark, there were only two small windows. But overall I’d definitely return!

We had the most lovely time with friends at the roof top bar at sunset prior to an excellent dinner in the dinning room . The views from the rooftop bar of the city are breathtaking, the service, drinks and hors d’oeuvres, wonderful. And the Puccini suite # 108 overlooking the Puccini concert hall and plaza was devine, large, modern and extremely comfortable . Can’t wait to return to enjoy the hotel...

Superb hotel in central location. Staff at hotel were wonderful efficient helpful. Lucca is great location lovely bars restaurants cafes. Wonderful historic churches and buildings including the historic wall which allows you to walk around the ancient city with gorgeous views of the Tuscan hills

Lovely, peaceful atmosphere with great view. Delicious food and excellent champagne at a fair price - and the service was absolutely delightful. We visited several times during our stay and we'll be back at this hidden gem at our next visit. Quite a walk up the stairs - and only few tables, but I'm sure it's possible to use the lift with assistance from reception (you'll normally need a keycard)....

This hotel has the potential to be so much more- but feel it fell short. I am titanium lifetime and my husband is platinum ambassador-so we are quite accustomed to Marriott properties. The sewer smell permeating through the lobby is extremely off putting- thankfully it wasn’t present in the rooms- that would have been a deal breaker. Breakfast was ok, not great. Super central, overlooking two cute piazzas. Great pizza restaurant next door. Rooms are a bit too small - even though we stayed in a mid tier one with the view. The gym is way too basic. Some dumbbells, a bench and a treadmill (and a super old elliptical). It needs a cable machine at least…

Lovely hotel in Lucca. The staff were very friendly and super helpful. The room was lovely and quiet. The breakfast was amazing. We used the complimentary bikes to ride around the Lucca city walls which was fun. I would totally recommend this hotel for anyone staying in Lucca.

This is an outstanding hotel in every way. The location, just inside the city wall, is perfect. Rooms were comfortable. Excellent breakfast and onsite parking was a plus.

Everything was perfect. The room was comfortable and had a patio. The upstairs rooms had a terrace. A very quiet location with a pool and a 10-minute drive from Lucca. The staff was very friendly. They had breakfast and dinner service, but we didn't use it. The only downside was that the ground-floor rooms were a bit like a basement due to the shape of the grounds, and there were more mosquitoes.

Hotel Carignano is a perfect hotel to stay in with their great staff, easy check in, a location that is very amenable to the walled old town Lucca (tip: free parking at Piazzale Don Franco Baroni. It's less than 5 minutes walk to the walls from there.) The breakfast buffet has ample and a variety of foods to select from. A truly great hotel to stay in and enjoy all that Lucca has to offer!!

Friendly and efficient staff, I would give the structure 3 stars, abundant dinner average, breakfast to be reviewed, good cleaning... top courtesy and availability, even though the pool was closed, they let us use the sunbeds, very kind.

Long weekend in Lucca. Nice and clean hotel. The staff was helpful with what we asked. Small furnished rooms, and no possibility to sit there. Would have liked to have had glass in the rooms. Unfortunately there were roadworks in the area, so planned excursions by bus were cancelled. Impossible to get a taxi back to the hotel from Lucca city center, which resulted in a 6 km long walk in the dark.

The hotel is lovely in every respect. The location is perfect, close to the centre of beautiful Lucca, but in a quiet corner. The rooms are lovely. The bathroom was huge and had twin showers. The finishes were tasteful. The staff was welcoming and always helpful. The breakfast was great. We enjoyed our stay immensely and will return.

Great hotel in a great location. The WiFi was impossible to get onto and the staff made it out to be our fault. They said it was my American phone. This was my 6th place that I stayed on this trip and I hadn’t had a problem until this hotel. And, after getting in a heated discussion with the clerk, I didn’t feel like I could ask about anything for the rest of our stay. Not very welcoming.

This is a nice little hotel in Lucca Lebanon,. The prices are a bit high for what you get. They limit your air conditioning use so on hot days you cannot get the AC to lower under 20 C

I would recommend Hotel San Marco to anyone visiting Lucca. It was a great choice for exploring and enjoying the walled city. Staff is friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.

Lovely hotel, would be nice to have updated the bathrooms, we had no bath tub in the junior suite & the rooms felt a bit cold! But it is a lovely quiet place. Restaurant in house has limited menu due to Covid.

Beautiful pool, friendly staff and willing to help everywhere. Rooms are clean and well maintained. What could improve the experience is if the Hotel would try and keep people at the Villa instead of going for dinner in Luca, e.g. by hosting small events or promoting their own restaurant a bit more to engage people to stay during the evening. Otherwise, pleasant experience.

Great location when arriving by train, close to both station and the city walls. 10mins walk to the parkrun start if attending. Room had everything needed. Plenty of hot water, mini fridge and tea and coffee plus biscuits. Continental breakfast was included but only served until 10am. Perfect for me as a solo traveller and I would stay again if in the area.

Perfectly good midrange hotel with decent facilities and warm and quiet. Friendly english speaking staff, decent breakfast and 7 mins walk from bus stops to the north and south, both of which connect to the station. Location near amfiteatro so could not be more central. Looks a bit tatty on the outside and is perfectly good on the inside, which is typical of the whole of Italy. Definitely returning

We left the train station in Lucca, put in the address of La Luna and had a wonderful short walk, less than a mile into the town of Lucca and to the Hotel La Luna. We were greeted by hotel staff who quickly got us into our rooms, two couples-two rooms. The rooms were nice and would be considered average. The staff were rude and unhelpful. None of the plugs in my apartment worked, the lights flickered and the front door to my apartment did not shut correctly. The morning breakfast was terrible and luls you into a false sense of morning food security. Rooms were clean and it’s a nice city, shame the place was so run down.

Wonderful Hotel an Staff Had a 4 night stay here with friends as we attended a concert in town. The hotel and staff were wonderful. Every need was taken care of, and even bought more JD when we managed to empty stock. Really look forward to returning soon.

Excellent little hotel with lots of charm and artwork throughout the hallways. All very basilica-like. The rooms are a bit small but it's a good compromise considering the location and price.

Extremely clean room! Very happy with upkeep of the room itself, not easy to find such attention to room cleanliness in Italy. Location is a 5-minute taxi ride from train station and very accessible to all the major sites in Lucca. Not in the center, but in a good position near Lucca's walls. Fantastic and helpful staff, who helped us change the room, because in the first one we had to wash ourselves in the bathtub, repaired with silicone, placing our heads under the tap, since the shower was unusable. Acceptable breakfast, considered the price.

GREAT location-a few minutes walk into the old town of Lucca. Incredibly friendly staff, nice breakfast. You just can't beat this location. Everything was very clean, the hotel is on a nice, quiet street with parking out front (sometimes you need to park in a nearby lot but we got lucky) and it made for a very pleasant stay. 15 minute walk to the train station to visit Florence as well.

Booked this hotel weeks in advance as within walking distance of city walls. Booking was cancelled with less than 24 hours notice and changed to another hotel roughly a kilometre further out. Eventually reinstated after a chaotic morning of phone calls and wasted taxi journeys. A great pity as it turned out to be a pleasant place to stay.

Very nice personell at Check in and check out. Breakfast was very poor and the water were not that helpful and friendly. My room was not nice and smelled for high humidity. Price was extremely high for such a room and breakfast. I would stay in this hotel, if I don’t find other alternative

Unreliable, cancelled a booking made 4/5 weeks in advance. Hotel was booked because within walking distance of Lucca centre. Management changed booking to another hotel not within reasonable distance of centre. When we arrived at alternative hotel Bernardino had cancelled that booking and had “found rooms” with them. Half a day wasted!

We spent a happy week at the hotel as a base for a family reunion. Easily walkable into Lucca, parking easy outside and with overflow, and nice breakfast in the patio. Friendly staff with great recommendations. Only complaint is that rooms are rather basic, could use a refresh.

Onsite parking was such a welcomed benefit. The house is lovely; the terrace is so nice, and John was very thorough. We enjoyed Lucca!

Extra charge This was a beautiful property. 1.2 miles to the old town center. The spa shown on the photos is an extra charge of 20 Euros per person for 1.5 hours with 24 hour notice. Overall very comfortable and a nice breakfast.

Very effusive welcome at check-in and help to park. Junior suite room very spacious, bed large and comfortable, I liked my pillow, OH didn’t like his. Room and bathroom clean. Hardwood floors meant wilderbeest occupants of room above kept us awake at all hours; must be migration time. Breakfast plentiful with many good things (including Prosecco) but real juice is extra, very odd. Best to stick to...

Our time in Lucca was an exceptional experience as we stayed at the most quaint, friendly, and comfortable hotel. From the staff to the beautiful decorations of the hotel…I can’t say enough! The rooms are lovely. The breakfast is expansive offering many choices. Really, you have to see it to truly appreciate the experience it offers. You will not be disappointed!

We love this hotel and we were delighted to return in 2025. We recommended it to the brother and his wife. They loved it too. Attention to small details are very important and this hotel excels. Friendly service at the desk, stewed apple at breakfast, individually hand painted different bedrooms … the list goes on and on. This is a gorgeous, quaint hotel in a great location just off the main street in Lucca and a short distance from access to the city walls. The staff are really friendly and helpful, and there's a wine bar to the side where we enjoyed delicious wines and got great recommendations for places to eat. I loved it and would go back in a heartbeat.

Make certain that you get a room in the main building, our first room was awful, nothing on the walls, cold and cell like. After talking to the front desk we were moved to the main building, Much much nicer room. Good breakfast.

Arrived in this charming hotel accidentally having noticed by a glance the simple pleasant facade and the location in the city… Wanted to stay 2 days, but i eventually stayed 3 times longer. Pretty good place for an budget stay in the historic part of Lucca. Room was specious, good beds and bathroom. The room is not soundproof: you can hear people from the hall and from the street.

Staff was great, all spoke English always trying to make our stay memorable. Decor is old Italian but very functional. Mario was great, ran out to bring our luggage upon our arrival, took up to our room and explained how everything worked. Would not hesitate to stay there again

Excellent location and secure paid parking. Rooms are quiet when windows are closed. Bathroom/shower facilities are not satisfactory and in need of updates. No elevator. Carrying luggage up and down can be a struggle. Breakfast starts at 08:00 and we had to leave before the time. The reception hours are limited.

La Gemma was great for our quick stay in Lucca. Was easy to find, staff was kind, things were clean. The area is lovely for exploring in and around Lucca.

We reserved a room that was on the second floor (in other words, the 3rd floor). We were hoping for a ground floor, but we were advised that was not available. However, we were moved to anothe location, with minimum stairs. We were very grateful!
