Palace Meggiorato in Abano Terme

I wrote this last year, but I only noticed now that it hasn't been posted.

The hotel itself is amazing, the structure is vintage, elegant, really exquisite, a great place in which you would stay if you want a luxurious holiday. The staff is really nice and kind, they make you feel at ease, well prepared and professional. On the contrary I must say the bar service was pretty lacking for a 4 stars hotel: we called the number for the bar service from the pools for 3 times but no one answered, it was 13 o'clock, and since no one was there we went to the main hall where the kind receptionist took order. We went back at the pool, and it was 13.15 when a waiter arrived telling us that it was coffe time and that they could not have brought us the food like it was written in the menu; more over he said they ended all the toasts, ecxept the ones with raw ham or salami... at 13.15??? We said it was ok, we were hungry, and he added that we should have come taking the toasts in twenty minutes. We agreed on that, so twenty minutes later (twenty five in fact, we were having a relaxing time in the pools) we went to the bar area to grab our lunch, only to be told he didn't even prepared them, saying we had to wait after the "coffee time" to eat something. We even asked him an appetizer (campari and hugo with some chips) but even those were not ready. We were deciding on what to do at that point, since at 14.30 we had an appointement for a massage, pondering if we could have make it by eating in a bar outiside the hotel, and only then the guy said "Oh but they are ready, I've just haven't had the time to put them in the microwave". At that point we decided to stay in one of tables of the bar, the waiter that finally decided to put the toasts in the microwave, also saying "I've no time to check them, I hope they don't get burned"...I mean, you are working in a 4 stars hotel and you can't even prevent some toasts from burning?

Finally our toasts were ready, we started to eat at 14 more or less, checking the time because of the massage appointement, and he served us the hugo and the campari with the toasts and without the chips requested, prioritizing all the new customers who asked him for a coffe. I understand that they are coming from lunch and that they would want to be served immediately, but we waited an hour before being able to eat something or even see our drinks (that were also carelessly made, also he wrote down our order but he still needed to ask twice about what kind of drink I wanted, I don't know where that piece of paper went, I hope not in the trash...). Bonus points to the front desk, but the bar service was not managed well for an hotel of this level.

Good location, a supermarket is within 10 minutes' walking distance. Perfect generous breakfast. Free parking.
