Hotel Boite in Borca di Cadore

The most disappointing part of our stay was the unprofessionalism of the staff, which completely overshadowed what could have been a pleasant experience.

We stayed at the hotel for 2 nights with a group of 14 people as part of a friend’s bachelor party. While the hotel itself is decent and the location is fine, the real problem is the staff — especially the manager, who showed a complete lack of professionalism. On the day of departure, I had an unopened bottle of Amaretto that I left in the room, since we were heading to the airport. The cleaner brought it down to reception and insisted we take it with us. Since we couldn’t, I suggested everyone in our group take one shot to finish it responsibly. We were calm, not shouting, and causing no disturbance. Yet the reception staff made an unnecessary scene. First one receptionist came over, then a senior one, and finally the manager herself — who immediately started shouting “fuori, fuori” (out, out) at us. I even gave €20 for the use of glasses, but instead of handling it reasonably, the manager escalated everything with arrogance. Her behavior was extremely disrespectful and could have provoked a conflict if we were not a peaceful group. It is unacceptable for paying guests to be treated this way, especially when we had been quiet and respectful. Another disappointing detail: breakfast was included in our booking, yet one of us was asked to pay extra just to have his eggs cooked the way he wanted. Overall, the hotel is fine, but the staff — particularly the manager — turned what should have been a pleasant stay into a frustrating and unpleasant experience. Definitely not recommended if you expect professionalism, respect, or basic hospitality.

Aside from the extremely uncomfortable mattress and the unprofessional staff, my girlfriend and I had problems with the Spa. Located 1km from the hotel, once we arrived, they didn't let us access the pools because we didn't have the access voucher that the hotel should have provided us. Not only was nothing done by the hotel administration to resolve the situation with the wellness center on the spot, but once we returned they even dismissed us by telling us to contact the agency (Veepee) with which the request had been made. room reservation for possible refund. No intention of remedying the mistake made, now I understand the reason for certain discounts in high season...

This has been a disaster, from beginning to end, one bad surprise after the next. I've tried to keep it short and compact here:

- Advertised spa on website but it's closed on arrival, no informationen about it on website prior to booking. The spa was the main reason we booked this place. If there would have been an information on the website about the closing of the spa, we would not have booked this place.

- "Do not disturb" signs on doors are not respected. Complaints were not being taken serious by reception and they laughed in my face when I talked to them about this problem. They infact put the blame on their housekeeping team, saying they are not Italian and don't speak EN/IT and therefore are not able to read and understand the "Do no disturb" signs. Even if that's the case, than that's a management problem who isn't able to train their staff properly.

- It's dirty! Hairs on the walls and next to sink in bathroom when entering the room for the first time

- We found hair below the cheese at breakfast that we ordered

- Wooden doorframe almost fell apart

- Broken fridge, but got replaced after we told them

- Broken toilet cover

- Broken showerhead holder (had to hold the showerhead with one hand while showering)

- Drawers were full of pen scribblings

- Random nail in the wall and damaged bed frame

- Outside chair covered in paint stains
