GUEST HOUSE SONOMAMA - Hostel in Kofu

When you enter, you’re greeted by a self check-in tablet. It’s really easy to use, and they offer multiple languages like English, Korean, and Chinese.
Right next to it there’s the dining area, kitchen, laundry space, and a TV.

On the first floor there are also lockers and the toilet.
The toilet, though… it’s honestly quite dirty. I get that there’s no staff constantly checking it throughout the day, but the users are really careless. It would’ve been better if they provided seat-cleaner spray so it feels a bit more sanitary.

The room itself is comfortable, although it feels a bit restricting since you have to share the space and can’t move around freely on the bed.
The shower room is small but totally fine for me. The toilet inside, however, is extremely loud — it gets really disturbing, especially at night.

Overall, I still think it’s worth it. For the price, you really do get a lot of facilities.

You can message them in advance about your booking.
Place is quite nice for its price. If you're sharing the room with someone, you can only use the bathroom from 6am to 11pm.

It's nice that you can check in without meeting anyone at the unmanned check-in. There is a coin laundry in the common area on the first floor.

I made a reservation to stay here the day before going hiking in the Southern Alps.
First of all, the price is cheap and the location is close to the station.
It has all the basics like body wash, shampoo, and hair dryer.
There is an elevator and a water purifier on the first floor. There is a large Family Mart nearby. There are lockers that you can lock with a key, so you can leave your luggage while hiking.

It is a dormitory, but the room is small, and the bathroom and toilet are inside the room, but they are very small. It wasn't bad because I was only going to sleep before hiking.

It is a self-check-in/out method using a pad, but I never saw any staff on the day I checked in, checked out, or came back to get my luggage. When I checked in, a number key and password were given, and I entered with that.
They asked me to fill out a form when I checked in, but I couldn't find it anywhere in the lobby, so I just wrote on a piece of paper that I was leaving my luggage, put it in a locker, and locked it before leaving. I was a little anxious, but it wasn't lost.

It's within walking distance from the station.
I stayed in a dormitory.
I arrived around 4pm and checked in by myself. I didn't meet any hotel staff until I checked out.

The dormitory is a business hotel room with beds lined up.

That's why it's called "as is".

As a remnant of the business hotel, the rooms have a unit bath.

The rooms aren't large but are cleaned.

There is a refrigerator in the hallway on each floor.

There is a lounge on the first floor and the kitchen can be used.

It's not a problem for experienced travelers, but those who aren't may find it confusing.
For me it was a cheap and sufficient guesthouse.
