Hotel Route-Inn Niigatakencho Minami in Niigata

Clean room, small bathroom, unsatisfing japanese breakfast, easy parking

If your main criteria were ample and free parking, this would be it. Two levels of parking with both covered and open air lots.

Check in was prompt and painless. Rooms were spartan but neat and clean. Critically, there was ample space to store luggage after unpacking. The fact that we didn't stubb our toes on protruding hardcase luggages like we did in other pea pod size rooms common in Japanese chain hotels is deeply appreciated.

Other pluses included sufficient hanging space for coats, hot water on demand, coin operated laundromat ( vital on longer trips), vending machines with beer, ice making machine, free coffee machine and a surprisingly adequate breakfast buffet. Oh and not to not forget comfortable beds and firm pillows too!

Downsides? Thin walls and doors meant I could hear the early birds heading off to breakfast. But I'm also glad to report that road noise wasn't overly intrusive even though it was faintly audible ( at least from my room). There's a public bath on the ground floor but didn't use it so that's neither a plus or minus for me.

Started with pretty low expectations but ended up being pleasantly surprised by the whole experience. The clincher was the thoughtful hand written note on the table when we entered the room. At it's price point, this represents excellent value and I can wholeheartedly recommend it, especially if like me you aren't the type with unrealistic expectations.

Located right next to the Niigata Prefectural Government Office, it offers convenient access to Niigata city center.
There are also plenty of restaurants nearby.
The parking lot is a self-parking multi-story car park, so even on snowy days, you can park on the first floor and avoid having to shovel snow off your car the next morning.

The coin laundry has a standard washing machine and dryer, as well as one drum-type washer-dryer.
This is very convenient as it eliminates the need to transfer laundry from the washer to the dryer.

The room was clean and there was no particular unpleasant odor, making it a comfortable stay.

The breakfast buffet was excellent in terms of taste and variety, and I was very satisfied.

I stayed on a weekday.

The hotel was generally clean, and I used the large public bath twice, once in the evening and once in the morning, and it was very comfortable as it was all to myself.

There were no tall buildings nearby, so the view was open and the view from my room was great.

Free coffee was available in the lobby, which was convenient for a quick break.

The hotel is a little far from the downtown area, and there are many chain stores in the area, but this made it quieter.

I arrived by car, so the free parking was also convenient.

I was worried because other reviews had mentioned a noticeable smell, but it didn't bother me at all.

I had a comfortable stay, and would definitely like to stay at this hotel again if I have the opportunity.

The food was delicious, but the dining room was small and I had to wait 30 minutes for breakfast.
The walls were dirty in some places and some were a little dirty.
There were restaurants and convenience stores near the hotel, which was convenient.

For the price, I think it's a solid business. There is a parking lot, and the beds are firm, unlike some hotels. Breakfast is delicious, and although it is not large, there is also a large public bath. Thank you very much for your help this time.

Very comfortable

I stayed on a business trip, but the bed and room were large. Overall it is beautiful and the parking lot has a weight designation, but it is a two-story building. It seems that it cannot be stopped for medium-sized cars and above.
