This hotel is CONVENIENT. A very good base for venturing north to Nagano City and environs or south to Karuizawa, etc. (even by car to Matsumoto). Ueda is a also a stop on most shinkansen trains to/from Tokyo, so you could choose save over thirty minutes traveling to/fro Nagano to Ueda wihout paying a fortune.
Breakfast and other perks like free potage soup in the reception area in the evening were great! We'll definitely stay here again.

Conveniently located near Ueda Station.
Toyoko Inns are standardized, but they are relatively new and clean.

Small cities,
The hotel is 100 metres from the station. Close, very close.
The room size is ok. The breakfast is average, but it's filling and I can accept it. Just can we not use disposable lunch boxes?
The hotel is in a good location, only 400 meters away from Ueda Castle. There is a sushi restaurant 150 metres from the hotel. 500 meters from the hotel is Tenjin Shopping Center (for shopping and dining)
We wanted to go to Bessho Onsen, but considering the accommodation in the hot spring area, we chose this place.

Poor sound insulation and small rooms are probably a common problem in Japanese hotels.

All the staff were very polite.
I was happy just to be able to stay there, so I didn't have any problems. The bathroom and toilet were clean and I was able to live the bare minimum, so I was satisfied.
As it was in front of the station, I was able to eat and drink without any inconvenience, so I was satisfied.

It's efficiently run, but everything I needed was there, so I had no issues staying there.
The breakfast was also delicious.
