There's a delicious soup curry restaurant right downstairs in the main building, but if your room happens to be directly above the kitchen, it can get quite smelly. The location is very convenient for transportation, being close to the JR station.

The location is great, but the hotel is a bit old and dusty in many areas. What's more, the hotel accommodation and the reception are in separate buildings, and so are the hot springs. It's three units across three buildings. To go to the hot springs, you have to get fully dressed and cross the road. After soaking, you can't just walk back to your room in your yukata; you have to put on heavy clothes...

Great location, nestled halfway up the mountain with beautiful views. The hotel service is excellent, offering pickup and drop-off at Otaru Station. The room also has a hot spring bath.

The hotel is about a 15-minute drive from JR Otaru Station. You can pre-book a shuttle service, which runs from 3 PM to 7 PM in the afternoon, and there are also morning shuttles available. They helped with my luggage upon arrival, and provided a check-in service. They speak fluent English. I booked a room with a private onsen (hot spring bath), which overlooked the canal – the view was amazing! There was also a massage chair. The complimentary wagashi (Japanese sweets) were delicious, and the mini-fridge was stocked with free drinks. Dinner was also quite good.

The place is nice and well located near the Main Street and a couple blocks away from the station but the internet connection is not good at all, I stayed on the second floor and there was no internet I needed to get connected to the 3rd floor wifi and it was super bad quality.

No Wifi internet connection in rooms, property did not address the issue throughout the duration of stay.

Room in dorm spacious. We have place for suitcase, and we can move freely in the room. Big sharing bathroom. Clean and well located. 10min from the train station. Very convenient and easy to self check in after 7pm. inconvenient: smell of food in the room, miss a small shelf: I'm not used to sleep under my phone(...-_-) and the light of the bed, is really low. The environment here is pretty good, and the location is excellent and easy to find. The front desk lady had a great service attitude. This was my first time staying in a youth hostel, and I actually quite liked it. The rooms are basic with no other facilities, just for sleeping. There's a common lounge where you can drink water and eat snacks.

It was exceptionally clean, and the location was great too. However, they don't provide disposable toothbrushes or bath towels, and there are no slippers. You have to pay extra for all of these, but otherwise, everything else was fine.

The traditional Japanese breakfast prepared by the host is superb. The place is very clean and tidy. The free covered car park is perfect so no need to remove the snow before driving. Just the WiFi is too weak.

Please upload updated photos of the renovations! The breakfast was clean and prepared with care, but the communal hot spring on the first floor is too small, barely fitting more than two people. You have to wait in line. I was really disappointed, especially after seeing the pictures and expecting a traditional ryokan.

Good location, near the train station. Also, very traditional and very hospitable. I enjoyed their amenities, especially the bathtub, and it is somewhere I will definitely stay again if when I go to Sapporo! Also, easy to get to, and very understanding hosts!

The location is fantastic. It feels like it's right in the middle of Otaru Station, Otaru Canal, and Otaru city center. The facilities are incredibly clean, and the owner is exceptionally kind. The Hokkaido-style breakfast was absolutely amazing. The small private bath was perfect for solo use. Highly recommend if you're visiting Otaru!!! My only slight regret is that I heard it was a Meiji-era building...

Although it is an old building, the bathroom has been renovated and is new and clean. The downside is that it is a little inconvenient to access and the room key is optional, but it is cheap so it may be worth the price.

The hotel has a strong fragrance smell, so it may not be suitable for people with sensitive skin. The Wi-Fi was unstable and I couldn't connect to the internet.

Other places raised their prices dramatically over the weekend, but this place had similar prices on weekdays and holidays, around 2650 yen. However, it's located halfway up a hill, so it can be tiring for people with suitcases or heavy luggage. A very good accommodation experience. The hostel was clean and quiet, and I slept soundly last night. It was also very convenient for getting around; I didn't feel it was far at all, even though I walked from the JR station.
