The traditional Japanese breakfast prepared by the host is superb. The place is very clean and tidy. The free covered car park is perfect so no need to remove the snow before driving. Just the WiFi is too weak.

Please upload updated photos of the renovations! The breakfast was clean and prepared with care, but the communal hot spring on the first floor is too small, barely fitting more than two people. You have to wait in line. I was really disappointed, especially after seeing the pictures and expecting a traditional ryokan.

Good location, near the train station. Also, very traditional and very hospitable.

I enjoyed their amenities, especially the bathtub, and it is somewhere I will definitely stay again if when I go to Sapporo!

The location is fantastic. It feels like it's right in the middle of Otaru Station, Otaru Canal, and Otaru city center.
The facilities are incredibly clean, and the owner is exceptionally kind.
The Hokkaido-style breakfast was absolutely amazing.
The small private bath was perfect for solo use.

My only slight regret is that I heard it was a Meiji-era building, but the renovation was so well done that it just feels like a clean, modern ryokan.

This is a very old-fashioned ryokan, offering a genuine taste of traditional Japanese accommodation culture. It's a three-story building with no elevator, and the rooms are traditional tatami style. The restrooms and washing facilities are located outside the rooms. There's also a communal bath (furo) on the first floor; I tried it, and while it's not large, the water temperature was perfect. The front desk was managed by a very kind old man who spoke some English and explained all the important details. On a side note, the breakfast was a beautifully presented and delicious meal. If you're looking for an authentic old-style ryokan experience, this is the place.

An incredibly satisfying experience. It was our first time in Otaru, and our requirements for a hotel were a Japanese-style aesthetic and proximity to the JR station. This ryokan met all our expectations. The historic building was not only neat and clean, but the service was also incredibly attentive and thoughtful. The breakfast preparation was particularly impressive; we stayed three nights, and each morning's breakfast was different. We truly felt at home!
