Hotel Kunugigaoka Otaru is a beautiful hotel in a beautiful city, right by the sea. It's conveniently located, perfect for a snowy stroll. I enjoyed delicious 'chame' barbecue, visited the Music Box Antique Museum, and the Japanese Ukiyo-e Art Museum, among other places.

This is my second time staying here. The breakfast is fantastic, with a wide variety of options. Both the sea and mountain views are beautiful, and the rooms are quite spacious compared to other hotels in Otaru. It's just a shame there's no hot spring.

This is a very classic hotel. The lobby is brightly lit, and the front desk staff were very friendly and clearly explained the opening hours for the three entrances. They even specifically advised JR travelers which door to use. The room was spacious and very clean, and the mountain view from the window was absolutely stunning – a pleasant surprise!

The hotel's location is pretty average; it's a bit of a walk to all the attractions. Luckily, we chose to drive, but we ended up paying over 3000 yen for parking over two days, which stings a bit since other Japanese hotels usually offer free parking. Plus, the hotel facilities are generally old, and the room lighting is super dim. If that bothers you, I'd recommend looking elsewhere. On the bright...

The hotel environment is fantastic and the rooms are huge! The windows are also really big. The staff are very friendly, and the buffet is delicious! Plus, the hotel is directly connected to a mall on the first floor, which makes shopping and dining incredibly convenient!

Great basement parking, easily accessible and protected from the snowfall. The interconnecting room was huge and totally worth it for a family of 2A 2C. The hotel's location is excellent, with rooms offering views of Mount Tengu and Otaru Station. They also provide a complimentary set menu dinner in the evenings. Funami-zaka Slope and the Sankaku Market are conveniently located just a short walk downstairs.

Right outside Otaru Station, this hotel has an excellent location. Across the street, you'll find a Don Quijote and a supermarket, and there's a LeTAO shop on the ground floor. The hotel itself is a bit old, but the facilities seem to have been renovated and have a very distinct Japanese style. Great location, just opposite the JR station. It’s just 2 mins walk to Sankaku Market. About 10mins walk to canal. If you have luggage and do not wanna drag around especially during winter, this is a great option. Room size is small but quite standard in Japan. Onsen is good and has a pin to enter for female. Breakfast is pretty good.

Hotel location is convenience. It’s just opposite the Otaru JR station. Walking distance to most of the attractions. The breakfast buffet also provide wide variety of options, can customise our own sashimi bowl. But the breakfast location is not very big so need to go early to avoid congestion.

The hotel is quite dated. Can see that the decor, furniture etc are all probably seen decades of use. Regardless, the location was great - just outside the train station. I can leave my luggage immediately and go sightseeing. Breakfast too was great. The eggs were so good. Finally, there’s natural hot springs too that was amazing after a tiring day.

Conveniently located within a 10-minute walk to Otaru Station and the canal. There's also a direct bus to Mount Tengu right outside the hotel. Lobby and rooms are really spacious and clean. Toiletries were mostly provided, water pressure and heating is good. Hospitality was great as well. Located only less then 10mins away from Otaru Stn and accessible to otaru canal. Convenience store just right outside the hotel.

Authant hotel is a very classic n posh hotel in Otaru. Only 8 mins walk from otaru station. Room is spacious, clean n amenities provided are top class. Also Onsen is really nice. Highly recommended if anyone plan to visit Ptaru and stay for a night or 2

The hotel is a 10min walk from the train station so it was hard to get there in snowy and icy conditions. The room was small and comfortable but clean.

Very close to Otaru Canal and Otaru Station, with plenty of food options nearby. It's also incredibly close to Tenguyama Ropeway Station! Everything was super convenient. The breakfast buffet was excellent too. A fantastic stay overall!

The hotel is a bit old but well-maintained. The Western breakfast was just okay and not really worth the price. The staff, however, were excellent – very friendly and proactive in opening doors and helping with luggage. The back entrance only has stairs, which was a real pain with all the luggage.

Good location! Friendly concierge and front desk. Nice view from the room, directly facing to otaru canal. Across the road you can reach one of the famous LETAO shop.

The hotel is right by the Otaru Canal, and you can see the canal from your room. It also has its own hot spring, and the toiletries are from Pola. The Japanese-style breakfast has pretty much everything you'd expect, though the room itself is a bit small.

Right infront of the otaru canal one of the best hotel i have stayed in hokkaido so far, room is spacious and comfortable highly recommended

First of all, would like to give a big thumbs-up to the staffs at the front desk 🥹 I think one of them is their manager or leader too. They are so so helpful when we encountered some issues with the parking machine even the parking lot is not under this hotel. And for the hotel, everything is good too. The room was a normal size and very close to the canal, within walking distance of all the attractions. The service was excellent; we arrived in the morning before check-in, and they stored our luggage for free. By the time we checked in later that afternoon, our bags were already in the room. Overall, it was great, and I'd book this place again if I ever go back to Otaru.

Location of the hotel is far from JR Station. If there is a heavy snow fall it will be quite challenging to bring your luggage to the station. The space is quite spacious and very clean. The location is super convenient, right by the subway station – just walk straight out and you can't miss it. I'd definitely choose to stay here again next time. I originally wanted to book for five nights, but they were fully booked for two of those nights, so I only got to stay for one. This hotel is super conveniently located right across from the Otaru Canal and just a few hundred meters walk from Otaru Station. You can walk to all the nearby attractions, and there are plenty of restaurants and cafes around. The breakfast spread is also very generous. Although the facilities are a bit dated, the room itself is spacious and very clean.

Hotel Nord Otaru is just next to Otaru Canal, very convenient location. Especially wanted to choose this lovely hotel which I stayed 10 years ago in year 2015 with my family of 5 person. Best hotel of my trip. The service was impeccable and the staff were so friendly and helpful. Everything is so thoughtful. The food was excellent and the room is huge. The onsen was awesome and looks beautiful

Honestly, the only drawback is the price. The room was spacious enough, and the elevated location offered fantastic views. Both dinner and breakfast were among the best I've had for a half-board stay!

The staff at Ginrinsou were fabulous and we felt so welcomed to the hotel. The history of the building made it an incredible experience.

An excellent experience, even better than Hongleyuan in my opinion. The hot spring views are unbeatable, and the Japanese breakfast and dinner were also very unique.

Third time staying here, and it's still excellent.
