The facilities are a bit dated, but the environment is nice, the room is spacious, and the breakfast tastes great.

Room chosen was large and service was great and quick. The food there was delicious and unique. Would not suggest going there by foot with the help of Google maps as it led me to the wrong direction. I would suggest taking the shuttle bus to get there instead.

We appreciated that the hotel provides complimentary pick-up and drop-off service to the nearest subway station between 7:00 am and 9:00 pm.

Breakfast is served in traditional Japanese style, featuring rice, grilled fish, eggs, and some vegetables. Coffee is not included and must be purchased separately from the hotel’s café.

Bedroom: The tatami mats felt slightly dusty, possibly because the room had been vacant for a few days after the last cleaning. There was also a strand of hair on one of the pillows when I lifted the duvet 😅.

Although the room was ready, the hotel does not allow check-in before 3:00 pm. Check-out time is 10:00 am, which is earlier compared to many other hotels. We were charged an additional ¥4,000 for a late check-out at 11:00 am (extension of an hour).

The in-room onsen was excellent, the water flow was strong and hot enough for cold weather. The bathroom mirror was also spotless.

The hotel was quite empty during our stay, so it would be appreciated if management could be more flexible and allow early check-in when rooms are already ready. The check-out time should also be extended to the standard 11:00 am.

Not allowing early check-in while also enforcing an early check-out time does not seem very favorable for guests.

The free call service from the station is very convenient for travellers who come to stay but not driving. Both the breakfasts and dinners are excellent. The in-room onsen with jacuzzi and the beautiful landscape is spectacular. The public onsen is also clean and well maintained.
The only flaw is tv in the room is rather old and would appreciate an upgrade.n

The hotel is slightly dated but has a strong Japanese aesthetic—stepping inside feels like entering a novel, reminiscent of a quiet rendezvous setting. We arrived after 7 p.m., by which time the hotel no longer served food, and the surrounding area was very dark and quiet, leaving Uber Eats as the only option. If you want to try the kaiseki dinner, be sure to make a reservation well in advance.
The private in-room onsen was a major highlight. It offered excellent privacy, and soaking in hot water on a cold winter night was deeply relaxing. In the morning, the misty view outside the window was beautiful.
The public baths are gender-separated and require full nudity; they are open until midnight and well equipped with toiletries. At check-in, guests receive small amenity kits and face masks. There is also a bar open from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m., which was a nice bonus.

The hotel is located by Lake Biwa, and the room was decent. We booked a private onsen room with breakfast and dinner included. The food was excellent, the hot spring was great, and the hotel's service was also very good.

It's not easy to find private onsen during peak season, and this hotel was quite a bargain. I booked the package with dinner abd breakfast, both were amazing. Staff came out to take photos for my family and we felt very welcomed. But we found some ant coming out from nowhere in our room and the room smelt a bit moldy.

Facilities: The room size is quite spacious, with a separate bedroom and dining area. There are also two restrooms, and outside is a private hot spring tub. Overall, the facilities are well-maintained.

Cleanliness: Acceptable.

Environment: Very good. You can see Lake Biwa right from the room. And you absolutely must try the large communal hot spring bath. Especially in winter or on a rainy day, when it's raining or snowing outside and you're soaking in the super warm hot spring – it's incredibly comfortable, truly indescribable.

Service: After exiting the JR station, if you call the hotel, a car will come to pick you up. However, that phone is really well-hidden; it took us a while to find it. The drive to the hotel takes about 10 minutes. The staff's service attitude is very good. They also escort you to your room and thoroughly explain each feature and how to use it. Check-out is at 10 AM, but most hot spring ryokans in Japan have this check-out time.

Dining: We booked the two-meal plan, breakfast and dinner. The variety was quite rich, and the taste was decent, within expectations. Overall, the dining service was pretty good. Room service is also available; the latest you can order late-night snacks is 9:30 PM. Room service food is absolutely delicious! And it's not expensive at all, the prices are the same as outside.

Overall, our stay at this hot spring ryokan was very comfortable. For those who can, I recommend staying two nights. On the second day, you can explore Biwako Valley, which is quite close to the hotel. It definitely won't disappoint (provided the weather is good; if the weather's bad, don't go).
