Lake Biwa Otsu Prince Hotel, Otsu1 / 30
9.0
Otsu, 4-7-7 Nionohama (2 km from centre) 🧭 Map
Very good, the room was spacious with a pleasant view from the window. Personally, I felt the breakfast on the 36th floor was better than on the 37th.
Aircon in room wasn’t that cool as it could get stuffy with 4 people in the room. Little dated hotel but good for staying a night or 2. Parking was free when signed up with their free membership program
About a ten-minute walk away, there's also a sushi restaurant with excellent value for money and incredibly fresh ingredients
The lakeside room is incomparable to general street view or building view hotels, giving guests the feeling of exceptional value. It is difficult to find such spacious rooms at the same price in other hotels in Japan
This hotel faces Lake Biwa directly, offering fantastic views. It's conveniently located near a supermarket and a popular duck meat soba restaurant by the lake. The hotel's shuttle bus is also very convenient
Hotel Otsu Biwako was absolutely superb in terms of both facilities and service. It was the most satisfying hotel stay during my entire trip to Japan. We were given a high-floor room with a delightful view

The location is excellent and the hygiene is great. The only minor issue was some pipe noise at night. Overall, I was very satisfied and would definitely choose to stay here again on my next trip to Kyoto.
Excellent location, right in the heart of the shopping district, and convenient for visiting all the attractions. Although the room was small, it was clean and tidy
Clean hotel at good location with delicious breakfast, nothing more you need to ask for ;-)
Plus, there's a free cup of sake and coffee in the lobby every day! The only downside was that my room faced the street and was a bit noisy. Still, I'd choose this hotel again next time
I stayed here for New Year's Day and found it incredibly convenient for getting around. It's perfectly situated between Daimaru and Takashimaya, making it a top choice for shopping
The hotel lobby has a seating area where you can enjoy complimentary coffee. Plus, there's a direct entrance from the lobby right into the subway station, which is super handy

Overall, the experience was pretty good ✨ 📍 The location is a huge plus! Step outside and everything is nearby 👇 Family Mart Lawson Uniqlo Ichiran Ramen 🍜 Super convenient for food, shopping, and transportation The Deluxe Family Twin Room has sufficient space, and it doesn’t feel cramped even with luggage fully opened
My first stay at THE CROSS HOTEL was the most satisfying night of my trip to Japan, with many experiences excelling in the details! First, the location is excellent, very close to BAL, and it's only a 2-3 minute walk to the hotel from the bus stop
The room was clean and tidy, and the customer service was professional and polite. The facilities were complete, and the lobby had a beautiful lounge area with free coffee
My requests made through Ctrip customer service before check-in were also met. Most importantly, the location is excellent, with many great food options nearby and beautiful scenery
The hotel lobby was also spacious, bright, and clean. The location was excellent, offering a peaceful retreat despite being in a bustling area; it was surprisingly quiet at night
I bought a package including breakfast for two during Christmas, and it was less than 800 for a night. The breakfast offered ample Japanese and Western options, and although it was small, it was delicious and filling

Likes: - Excellent location in Gion; right by the Gion bus stop; lots of places to eat/shop; a few steps away from the Yasaka Shrine and other landmarks - They give cute little things like a foldable comb and a nice wash towel (which I never got in any other hotel) - There's a press for pants on every floor - Water is replenished daily - Coffee is Starbucks Dolce pods - Comfy beds and nice pillows...
The rooms were good size for two with overhead size luggage. No sense of overcrowded. Its located on the touristy part of Kyoto so expect crowds
Great location, good price, quiet. In need of little refresh but did the job. I would recommand if on budget in the city.
Location is great - right the middle of downtown.
They leave a bag on your door every day with a fresh bath towel, coffee and cup for the coffee maker; and you can use that bag to leave your used towel items to put outside your door for them to pick up
I think that is a great system. The room was cozy and just enjoy for my husband and I. He especially loved that you can adjust and turn the lights off/on directly from the headboard - very convenient!

Excellent location, just a short walk to many tourist attractions. The room was clean and cozy—definitely great value for money.
Every time I visit Kyoto these past few years, I always stay at this hotel. The location is excellent, right in Sanjo Kawaramachi, very close to the Kamo River. There are tons of shopping and dining options nearby
The great advantage is the excellent location – it's super convenient and you'll practically pass by it no matter where you're going within the three nearby streets
Breakfast was excellent, offering a generous spread of both Japanese and Western options. We stayed for several days and would highly recommend it
The hygiene is good, and toiletries can be conveniently picked up from the lobby. The room attendants are warm, attentive, and polite
The service was good, but the room was a bit small. A heads-up: even though I booked a double room, it was listed as single occupancy on Trip. If two people stay, you'll need to pay an extra fee at the hotel

Kyoto, 341 Shimizu-Cho Kawaramachi-Dori, Nijyo-Agaru, Nakagyo Ward (2 km from centre) 🧭 Map
The hotel is new and very clean, with comfortable rooms. The only downside is that it doesn't have a window. They offer free coffee and a public bath. Overall, it's excellent.
The hotel's facilities are excellent. The room layout is well-designed and user-friendly, making everything easily accessible. Even after a five-day stay, I didn't feel bored
Room is very tidy and clean with good service. Located near the city center.
The hotel is situated in the relatively quiet area of Nijo, yet it's still within walking distance of Kawaramachi. Walking back to the hotel along the Kamo River or the small stream nearby every day was very pleasant
The only downside was the subpar soft service. Halfway through my stay, my own towel went missing. I suspect it got mixed up with the hotel towels, but this level of housekeeping service is simply unprofessional
This hotel is fantastic! The decor is new and has a wonderful Japanese aesthetic. When you walk into the room, there's no unpleasant smell at all – it's very clean, and the bedding is super comfortable

The best part is the onsen that's included in the price, and which we used daily. Hotel has a somewhat boutique feel, and overall I found it pretty underrated , and good value for what it is
I was very pleased with the hotel room design, comfort and space. The parking is first come first serve even though I had requested for it earlier so I had to park elsewhere for the first few nights
good location, spacious room and cozy design, just the sound proof not good and the noise from the traffic is quite disturbing at the night. Thanks frontline for arranging luggage transfer to my next stop.
Amenities Good selection and of good quality. They use Laura Ashley toiletries. Amenities can be picked up at the reception - you take what you need - hair band, cotton pads/buds, toothbrush, comb etc
A little bit expensive...breakfast is ok...services is good
However, if you have luggage, would suggest to go via exit 3, take the lift to another hotel lobby (I can’t recall the hotel name). Solaris is across the street from this hotel. I don’t see any lift if taking exit 1

We mistakenly thought the drop-off point for the shuttle at Otsu Station was the pick-up point, and the driver kindly took our luggage and explained that the pick-up was across the street, without being rigid about making us go there
High quality hotel that is reasonably priced with free parking. Our room had a lovely view across the lake. For the price it's excellent.
I used a pre-purchased room voucher, and it was such an amazing deal! The hotel is right near Otsu Station and is absolutely beautiful. The room was huge, with a direct view of Lake Biwa
The hotel offers a shuttle bus to the train station, which made getting around very convenient. The food was delicious, especially the breakfast, with good quality and variety
What’s a good location there ..this is my second times live there ..,free car park …pretty sea view …very good onsen ..100 marks
I loved everything about this hotel. The cleanliness was outstanding — easily one of the cleanest hotels I’ve ever stayed in. The staff provided great service and were always helpful and friendly

Overall environment is quiet, gives you a relaxing and calm vibe. The staff members are very polite and helpful. Unfortunately the west wing is under renovation now but it does not really affect the good experience
Good, quiet location. Staff was helpful and very friendly. Would stay again.
The service was excellent, and the room was spacious and clean.
My boyfriend and I had a wonderful stay at Heian No Mori Kyoto Hotel! The place was clean, comfortable, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. We loved our time here and will definitely come back again! 🌸😊
Fortunately they booked us into a brand newly renovated room. Room smells spanky new, located is great for us as we can easily catch different buses to different corners of Kyoto to visit the major sites
On the plus side, there's a shuttle service from Tokyo Station, though it's not very frequent. The hotel also has a large public bath, which is wonderful for relaxing after a day of walking

Kyoto, 31 Higashikujyo-nishisannou-cho, Minami (60 min from centre) 🧭 Map
The room is good sized, private and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Very convenient as Kyoto station is about a 10-15mins walk away
Good overall, however a few bits with the room. There is no mirror that we found in the room outside of the bathroom, there is also a window that we couldn’t see a way of blocking out light (no curtain)
It can be a little inconvenient to push your luggages to and from the train station, and walking back at night, esp if you are alone, can feel a little unnerving as the hotel is located on a quiet street
The staff went above and beyond to help us. We were shocked by the lengths they went to ensure orur comfortability. I would have expected this kind of service from a 5 star hotel
Basic hotel but the service and cleanliness of this hotel is beyond basic. The staff are extremely friendly and attentive. The hotel looks newly renovated and well-maintained
Rooms are spacious and clean. The location is great, it’s only a few blocks away from Kyoto station! The staff is very friendly too, and speak English which is a plus

Newly opened hotel, close to Dongshan. The environment is absolutely superb, especially the garden view from inside. The service attitude is excellent. Highly recommend staying here, it offers good value for money
Breakfast was excellent and clearly above average, especially the Japanese selection with wagyu shabu-shabu. The location is convenient while still being in a quiet area. Service was smooth and professional throughout
The driver was very steady and polite. The breakfast was especially good; the hotel offers a wide variety, including Wagyu beef, grilled salmon, and both rice porridge and Western-style buffet options
Though it is not at the centre of kyoto, its the serenity and quietness that we wanted. Love the stay, especially their breakfast.
They gave us a good service.Highly recommended for couples 🤍
Very good hotel. Room a bit small as per the standard here. I can rate room as 4+ to 5 stars level. However, location is a bit poor. Quote a walking distance to the main attentions.

For such a prime and expensive location, the room size is actually quite good! The Kamo River and Kawaramachi area right next to the hotel offer truly healing beautiful scenery, and there are tons of great food options right outside the door too!
Also, the beds in the hotel are incredibly comfortable – just the right firmness – ensuring a good night's sleep
The hotel's location is really great; I love the Isomaru right across the street. This time, though, I encountered a staff member who wasn't very sharp
The main draw is how comfortable it is right by the Takase River, and Ogawa Coffee, just one traffic light away, is also delicious
There's a supermarket just 20 meters to the left when you leave the hotel. Matsuya (a popular beef bowl restaurant) is about 200 meters further to the left, with Isomaru Suisan directly opposite it
This was my second stay, so I didn't take any photos of the hotel

This hotel boasts an excellent location, making it incredibly convenient for getting around, shopping, and running errands. The surrounding amenities are comprehensive, and transportation is hassle-free
So, if that's something that bothers you, you might want to reconsider. Overall though, it was a very good stay
The breakfast selection is extensive, offering both Western and Chinese options that are fresh, delicious, and satisfying. The room was clean and tidy, and the service was warm and attentive
Everything in Japan gets more expensive around New Year's, and this hotel was no exception. It has a really cool, stylish design, which I loved! However, it's right next to a cemetery
Overall, it was a comfortable and stress-free experience with great value for money. It's suitable for both business trips and leisure travel. I would definitely choose to stay here again

Amazing hotel right at the shopping street. For the money it was a mind-blowing. Very quiet, very clean. The reception desk is very friendly and helpful. I would recommend staying here and will come back eventually.
Everything was good, food was fabulous. The first time in Japan we weren’t hungry after dinner . The room was clean, cosy. We used bus for the airport. Very convenient. Highly recommend this hotel to stay over night.
Great facility with close proximity to a lot of different shops and restaurants. Very kind and helpful staff.
Located near a major shopping, dining, and covered market district of Kyoto, less than a block from the subway and an underground grocery store and mall, Practically overlooking Nobunaga's Mausoleum, the hotel interior is artful decorated and the rooms are comfortable, quiet

This hotel offers incredible value for money! I saw some reviews mentioning no windows, but I found that if you pull back the curtain behind the bed, there's a window that allows for ventilation! The location is excellent, with a bus stop right downstairs and the subway not far
There were a lot of foreign guests, and the front desk staff spoke good English, giving it a vibe similar to the youth hostels I've stayed at in Europe. I went on a weekday and paid less than 200 for a single room
Fun hotel, design was awesome, exactly what you’re looking for in Japan. Bed was comfy & bathroom excellent
I didn't have high expectations, but I was pleasantly surprised – the decor and details are adorable! Highly recommend! I'd definitely come back if I have the chance!

I chose the plan that included a breakfast buffet, and was very satisfied with the wide selection and delicious side dishes. The rooms and large public bath also had card key access, so security was tight
The hotel is very close to the Kamo River, and it's conveniently located on a main road, making it easy to get to the bustling commercial area. The facilities are relatively new and pleasant to look at
The staff were exceptionally friendly and professional, always ready to help with a warm smile. The location is also very convenient, with easy access to transportation and nearby attractions
It was a double room for one person, but it was large and clean, and the bathroom was not a separate bath, but a bathtub with a washbasin and a separate toilet for Japanese people
However, the dinner for the hotel's 'one night, two meals' plan was too small; we had to order extra dishes to feel full! Overall, we were quite satisfied!
I stayed at this hotel while sightseeing in Kyoto. It's a relatively new hotel that opened recently. The room didn't feel cramped, there were plenty of amenities, and the hospitality was excellent

It was so relaxing, and the lake view was just magnificent. Since I'll be in Kyoto for the next few days, I'm definitely coming back for another night to enjoy the onsen and the stunning view of Lake Biwa again
I booked the VIP room and it was huge! It really felt like a traditional ryokan, which was superb! Having the onsen right in the room was also fantastic, honestly. I absolutely loved my stay here
We have seen this Hotel offers Onsen (Natural Spring Bath House) but not for Guest without a accomodation at this Hotel. Accommodation is necessary to use the Onsen at this Hotel.
Wow! What a wonderful experience at Biwako Grand Hotel. Truly the most relaxing part of my Japan trip, the onsen was very beautiful, with fantastic views
We didn't end up getting a pure lake view, but it was still a beautiful and relaxing experience in the tatami room. It was a tad pricey, even for off-season, but with a wonderful kaiseki dinner, it was still a great time
Dinner was served in a grand banquet hall at a designated time, and it was so lavish that the dishes barely fit on the table – everything was delicious! The facilities are quite old, so I did notice noises like the motor and the bathroom fan, but all the staff were very kind, and I had a pleasant stay overall

I’ve stayed in Kyoto many times and I just have to say that this is one of the best values you’ll get for your money
Spent a week here in 2019. Great traditional style rooms. Very clean and good location. Never used the restaurant or bar. Loved the power windows
The hotel is really good , lobby service I can say 10/10 perfectly fine
A lifesaver during the off-season! This is my favorite hotel chain; I absolutely love the decor. The service is also excellent. It's a top-notch Japanese hotel chain that I highly recommend.
Excellent hotel! The front desk staff were very welcoming. We usually check in using English when we're abroad, but here they even had Chinese service available

For a city like Kyoto where every inch of land is precious, this hotel offers incredibly good value for money. The rooms are clean, the location is convenient, and the service is attentive
This hotel is a 5-minute walk from Shijo Kawaramachi Station. Kyoto isn't very big, and in this weather, you can walk to Kiyomizu-dera, the Gion area, stroll along the river, and even reach the **** area all on foot
On check-in and check-out days, you can use your Suica card to lock your luggage, which is right in front of the front desk. There are many restaurants in the alley between the hotel and the Kamo River worth trying
On the first day, I took public transport everywhere, only to realize later how close everything actually was. It's right on a main road, so there's some motorcycle noise, but it didn't bother my sleep much
You will be able to take your loungewear in front of the elevator. The room was single, but I wondered if it was enough to sleep. There was no sound leakage in the next room, etc. , and I was able to spend quietly
Stayed here for four nights while in Kyoto. In a great area a short ride from all the sights, but an interesting neighbourhood. Shops and restaurants close by. Would recommend.

Hotel Grand Bach Kyoto Select is well located, with easy access to nearby attractions. The area is not difficult to navigate, and travelling with luggage is convenient as most of the roads around the hotel are flat
The hotel looks fantastic both externally and internally. The design is modern and well maintained, creating a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere. The service staff were great—friendly, helpful, and professional
Last year I had the chance to participate in the goto campaign, and I'm doing it again. The location is near the south exit of Nishiki Market, and it's very convenient for getting anywhere
The lobby amenities were well thought out and added to the overall comfort of the stay. A welcome drink was also provided for every guest, which was a nice touch
