Excellent location, right in the heart of the shopping district, and convenient for visiting all the attractions. Although the room was small, it was clean and tidy. The bathroom deserves a special mention – coming back each day for a bath was a real treat!
This is my second stay at Hotel Forza Kyoto. The location right in Kawaramachi is super convenient for shopping and dining. My first stay, I had a room facing the street which was a bit noisy. This time, I got an inner room which was quiet, but I did miss out on the view.
Location is like a 10-15min walk from station. There are STAIRS, no lift or elevator so it’s a pain if have a large and heavy suitcase! When I arrived at the lobby, I actually wasn’t sure whether it was the reception because it looked more like a counter at a large restaurant. The reception staff didn’t really dress like a reception staff. She was just wearing a very casual looking striped top like...
Clean hotel at good location with delicious breakfast, nothing more you need to ask for ;-)
Water is only given 2 bottles per day.
However there is a free sake daily.
Free coffee unlimited.
Location is just very near nishiki market.
The room was very clean, and the location was convenient. I loved the self-check-in and check-out options, which are great for introverts. Plus, there's a free cup of sake and coffee in the lobby every day! The only downside was that my room faced the street and was a bit noisy. Still, I'd choose this hotel again next time.

We enjoyed our stay here with no issues. They are very nice and accommodating tomorrow stays. They leave a bag on your door every day with a fresh bath towel, coffee and cup for the coffee maker; and you can use that bag to leave your used towel items to put outside your door for them to pick up. I think that is a great system.
The room was cozy and just enjoy for my husband and I. He especially...
Likes:
- Excellent location in Gion; right by the Gion bus stop; lots of places to eat/shop; a few steps away from the Yasaka Shrine and other landmarks
- They give cute little things like a foldable comb and a nice wash towel (which I never got in any other hotel)
- There's a press for pants on every floor
- Water is replenished daily
- Coffee is Starbucks Dolce pods
- Comfy beds and nice pillows...
One of the better APA hotels we have stayed at. We were originally in a smoking room. But they were able to switch us to a non-smoking room. We were very pleased with the rest of our stay there. Great location all in all and close to everything in the area.
Staff were amazing, amenities are great, location is FANTASTIC!
2 nights stay with a toddler.
I gave it 3 stars because of its great location, price, and the staff (really helpful and kind).
I would’ve rated it less otherwise.
The beds and pillows were so uncomfortable,
And room really small.
Honestly I don’t recommend it if you have kids.
It’s OK otherwise but only for a short stay.
Great location, good price, quiet. In need of little refresh but did the job. I would recommand if on budget in the city.

This hotel offers incredible value for money! I saw some reviews mentioning no windows, but I found that if you pull back the curtain behind the bed, there's a window that allows for ventilation! The location is excellent, with a bus stop right downstairs and the subway not far. It's very close to Sanjusangen-do Temple and convenient for visiting Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine! The hotel is also connected...
Fun hotel, design was awesome, exactly what you’re looking for in Japan. Bed was comfy & bathroom excellent
Location of the hotel was a short walk over the bridge to the underground Station.
Supermarket and bike hire over the road.
The room were dark due black walls.
Your beds were two mattress put down on a large piece of wood and bed sheets would come loose and mattress can move.
The storage under the bed was great tho
The staff were very helpful and greeted you everytime you enter level 3 area.
The location is ideally good, 10mins walking distance to Shijo (the famous shoppingstreet all the way down to Yasaka Shrine).
The hotel interior design looks dull and black, walls are painted/covered w/ black wallpaper. If you are quite not comfortable with dull environment, better select the other hotel. I am moderate with the environment as I switched side of the bed during my 2nd night, as I dint...
Good hôtel and nice place. The room are very original and convenient (space for luggages, big bed and shower).

Wow! What a wonderful experience at Biwako Grand Hotel. Truly the most relaxing part of my Japan trip, the onsen was very beautiful, with fantastic views. We didn't end up getting a pure lake view, but it was still a beautiful and relaxing experience in the tatami room. It was a tad pricey, even for off-season, but with a wonderful kaiseki dinner, it was still a great time.
I booked the VIP room and it was huge! It really felt like a traditional ryokan, which was superb! Having the onsen right in the room was also fantastic, honestly. I absolutely loved my stay here. It was so relaxing, and the lake view was just magnificent. Since I'll be in Kyoto for the next few days, I'm definitely coming back for another night to enjoy the onsen and the stunning view of Lake Biwa...
We stayed one night at Biwako Grand Hotel Kyoomi and had a generally relaxing experience. The traditional tatami room was comfortable and suitable for staying with a young child. The hotel has a classic Japanese ryokan atmosphere, and the area near Lake Biwa is very peaceful. Staff were polite and helpful, and the shuttle service was convenient. Breakfast was simple but acceptable. One suggestion is...
It was great that there were two large public baths for men and two for women, and they were open 24 hours. Thanks to this, the baths weren't crowded at all, even for such a large ryokan. Dinner was served in a grand banquet hall at a designated time, and it was so lavish that the dishes barely fit on the table – everything was delicious! The facilities are quite old, so I did notice noises like the...
The hotel rooms were really great because they had private baths and offered views of Lake Biwa! The rooms were spacious, perfect for families or friends on vacation! The facilities were also very complete, and the hotel had a Lawson open until 10 PM! My biggest disappointment was the central climate control in the room; it was stuffy and hot all night, and I couldn't sleep well because there were...
A resort hotel for a relaxing getaway. The view of the lake from the onsen is pleasant, as is the view from the balcony. I was pleased with the abundance of various skincare products in the onsen. Breakfast was enjoyable with a wide selection. The futon in the room was a bit thin, so sleeping was hard. The electrical outlets were inconveniently located. There is a regular shuttle to the station, which...

Stayed here for four nights while in Kyoto. In a great area a short ride from all the sights, but an interesting neighbourhood. Shops and restaurants close by. Would recommend.
The location is quite good, and it has everything you need.
This hotel is a 5-minute walk from Shijo Kawaramachi Station. Kyoto isn't very big, and in this weather, you can walk to Kiyomizu-dera, the Gion area, stroll along the river, and even reach the **** area all on foot. On the first day, I took public transport everywhere, only to realize later how close everything actually was. The room is small but clean. It's right on a main road, so there's some motorcycle...
For a city like Kyoto where every inch of land is precious, this hotel offers incredibly good value for money. The rooms are clean, the location is convenient, and the service is attentive. I would definitely choose to stay here again on my next visit to Kyoto.
The perfect hotel! Wonderful location right next to Gion (and a beautiful canal), clean and comfortable room, lots of amenities, quiet, good service. Can onl recommend.
Hotel location is excellent. Not only super near the beautiful Kamo River, train & bus station & shopping mall. Just 5 mins walking distance you can have tons of restaurants to choose.

The location is spot on. It's incredibly handy for getting around, with everything right on your doorstep. You've got loads of shops and places to explore nearby, so you're never short of things to do😊

Truly enjoyed my stay here! Really love the cozy and zen vibes and location was really good, directly opposite a mall with Uniqlo, GU and Loft.
Amenties were provided in the lobby so you can help yourself to it anytime.
Overall, a really comfortable stay and I’d come back again!
Overall is good and they have Refa for shower and hairdryer. My only complaint is the room is quite dark, not have enough light/lamp..
Excellent location, just a few steps and you're right on the hustle and bustle of downtown Kyoto. Room was clean. They have free coffee inside a quiet library. Staff was extremely helpful. I recommend
Excellent! The room is quite spacious, big enough to open a 30-inch suitcase. Downstairs, there's a lounge area with coffee, hot water, and a restroom, perfect for early risers to get everything sorted before heading out with friends.
It was really good to stay at Resol, the staff were friendly, the rooms were clean, the location was excellent- right in the middle of the high street- but the hotel itself served as a sanctuary and can I add, the scent when you walked in was heavenly- I even bought their signature essential oil.

This hotel perfect for a stay out from bustling Kyoto city. a bit far, but very good location if you dont mind 10mins walk to JR station.
It was far from any station, about a 12-minute walk. It was also a bit far to call a taxi, and carrying heavy luggage was tiring.
Being a Toyoko Inn, there's nothing wrong with the hotel itself. The rooms are clean and the service is also excellent.
The only downside is the location.
It's a bit far from both JR Otsu Station and Keihan Biwako-Hamaotsu Station, so it might be a bit difficult if you have luggage or during hot or cold seasons.
Also, there are no convenience stores nearby, so you might find it inconvenient if you...
Self-check-in was available, but the service was quite good.
There was a water dispenser and a small seating area.
The room was a bit more spacious than typical Japanese rooms, but there was only one elevator, so the wait was quite long. The breakfast was simple and delicious.
It's a few minutes' walk from the station, and there's a small shopping street nearby.
My room was in front of the air conditioner unit storage area, so the view from the window was terrible.
Apparently there are rooms with views of Lake Biwa, so I wish they'd let me choose the view I wanted.

If you are planing a cheap hotel near Kyoto I recommend this one. Literally the hotel is in the station just get the elevator and go down and there you go you arrive attge station and after 2 stops 9 minutes you arrive at Kyoto station.
Located behind the JR station which could take you to anywhere outside the town. Need to walk to other location within the town as there's no connecting train. The hotel is rather old but is ok to stay at affordable price. A restraurant within the hotel that serve good food.
The location right next to the station is super convenient. The front desk staff were also excellent.

The facilities are a bit dated, but the environment is nice, the room is spacious, and the breakfast tastes great.

Good foods and excellent view.
service is not detailed, , no coffee to be provided for breakfast, room is old, food is so so, hot spring is good, spacious outdoor
The free call service from the station is very convenient for travellers who come to stay but not driving. Both the breakfasts and dinners are excellent. The in-room onsen with jacuzzi and the beautiful landscape is spectacular. The public onsen is also clean and well maintained.
The only flaw is tv in the room is rather old and would appreciate an upgrade.n
The hotel is slightly dated but has a strong Japanese aesthetic—stepping inside feels like entering a novel, reminiscent of a quiet rendezvous setting. The room was spacious and clean. The staff was friendly and helpful and held our bags since we arrived in Kyoto before check in time. The hotel was conveniently located near a train station and several convenience stores. Only complaint was that the bathroom was on a steep step that was not labeled. well, i mistakenly choose the smoking room which made me feel very uncomfortable whole night. It's my fault, I don't blame, but the ventilation is sooooo bad that I could always smell the smoking from my next-door neighbor. Others were ok. If you don't mind it's a bit old and you would just stay for a night, this is a good choice.
Good value for money The hotel is located right in the city make is easy to travel around. The check-in process efficient, The bed was comfortable although the room was a bit small. Overall a nice place to stay

If you are going to visit Lake Biwa or Hikone Castle, staying at Reiah Hotel Otsu Ishiyama is very convenient for transportation and the price is much more affordable than hotels in Kyoto. The hotel breakfast is good and freshly ground coffee is available all day.
The room was very comfortable and large, and we were able to open our two 28-inch suitcases. It was great that we chose to live in Ishiyama this time. In the morning, we walked along the Seta River to Ishiyama Temple. The scenery was beautiful. The small town in Japan was very quiet and comfortable.

Experience was perfect. Unfortunately, we arrived later in the afternoon at 5pm, and wasnt able to take advantage of most of the facilities.
Efficient and friendly reception. Comfortable, clean and spacious room with in room onsen at the right temperature . Both dinner and buffet breakfast were tasty and varied. Staff at restaurant were efficient and provided good service.
Room was very good. Public onsen was ok; the water was not as hot and as original. Breakfast selection was ok, can be better and have more selection other than seafood. Dinner was superb! The only thing was lacking is the location. There was nothing else around the hotel. 2 day stay was more than enough. There were no other facilities or events than onsen bath, foot/hand bath, happy hours.
Extremely satisfied with this hotel, definitely a vacation experience you won't regret!

First off, the hotel's location is absolutely fantastic! It's right up there with the Hyatt at Ninen-zaka. Being next to Chion-in Temple, it just sets the stage perfectly. All the main attractions are within walking distance.

Excellent location, with a unique morning blessing ceremony. The hotel is in superb condition, and the service is great, perfect for an authentic local cultural experience. Most attendees at the morning temple blessing are Japanese. The rooms are spotless and the facilities are all very new.
Convenient location, spacious rooms, and great toiletries. We even got a complimentary breakfast on our last night, which was a pleasant surprise. Thank you!
Be sure to try the hotel's morning ritual, a Buddhist ceremony known as the 'Morning Awakening Ritual'. The entire hotel boasts a distinctly Japanese design. It's said that Wang Sicong chose this type of hotel in Kyoto to unwind.
This is my second stay here. My previous booking was direct through their official website, but I found a better deal on Ctrip this time. A unique feature of this place is the opportunity to attend the temple's morning service and listen to Japanese monks chanting. What's more, it's conveniently located very close to popular attractions, making it incredibly easy to explore on foot.

I was staying by car, but since I entered the name of my vehicle when booking, I was able to stay without worrying about parking.
Also, the Keihan Railway station is right in front of the hotel, so although you can hear the station and the sounds of the trains, the unfamiliar sight of the trams was a memorable one.
There are also convenience stores nearby, so it's very convenient.
It's a pity that it's on the 5th floor. If you live on a higher floor, you can see the lake. There are railroad tracks under the window, but it doesn't feel noisy even with the window closed. I like the small cup for boiling water. It's rare to boil water in the hotel. Disadvantages: The toiletries are simple and need to bring your own.
The hotel's check-in and check-out times are better than those of other Japanese hotels. We were able to check in right after 1:00 p.m. The rooms are retro, and it's the first time I've seen a key-turned power supply. It's close to Lake Biwa, but the Omi beef restaurant next door is closed.
A bit far from JR station but big room.
The price is cheap and the quality is good. It is also very convenient for travel. It is very close to the shopping street and the lake!
The hotel is next to Dalu Station. Although it is a bit far from JR, it is only ten minutes away. I like their restaurant on the second floor very much. It has a very Showa feel.

Facilities: Small but complete!

Thank you for the hospitality.
