Excellent location, right in the heart of the shopping district, and convenient for visiting all the attractions. Although the room was small, it was clean and tidy. The bathroom deserves a special mention – coming back each day for a bath was a real treat!
This is my second stay at Hotel Forza Kyoto. The location right in Kawaramachi is super convenient for shopping and dining. My first stay, I had a room facing the street which was a bit noisy. This time, I got an inner room which was quiet, but I did miss out on the view.
Location is like a 10-15min walk from station. There are STAIRS, no lift or elevator so it’s a pain if have a large and heavy suitcase! When I arrived at the lobby, I actually wasn’t sure whether it was the reception because it looked more like a counter at a large restaurant. The reception staff didn’t really dress like a reception staff. She was just wearing a very casual looking striped top like...
Clean hotel at good location with delicious breakfast, nothing more you need to ask for ;-)
Water is only given 2 bottles per day.
However there is a free sake daily.
Free coffee unlimited.
Location is just very near nishiki market.
The room was very clean, and the location was convenient. I loved the self-check-in and check-out options, which are great for introverts. Plus, there's a free cup of sake and coffee in the lobby every day! The only downside was that my room faced the street and was a bit noisy. Still, I'd choose this hotel again next time.

We enjoyed our stay here with no issues. They are very nice and accommodating tomorrow stays. They leave a bag on your door every day with a fresh bath towel, coffee and cup for the coffee maker; and you can use that bag to leave your used towel items to put outside your door for them to pick up. I think that is a great system.
The room was cozy and just enjoy for my husband and I. He especially...
Likes:
- Excellent location in Gion; right by the Gion bus stop; lots of places to eat/shop; a few steps away from the Yasaka Shrine and other landmarks
- They give cute little things like a foldable comb and a nice wash towel (which I never got in any other hotel)
- There's a press for pants on every floor
- Water is replenished daily
- Coffee is Starbucks Dolce pods
- Comfy beds and nice pillows...
One of the better APA hotels we have stayed at. We were originally in a smoking room. But they were able to switch us to a non-smoking room. We were very pleased with the rest of our stay there. Great location all in all and close to everything in the area.
Staff were amazing, amenities are great, location is FANTASTIC!
2 nights stay with a toddler.
I gave it 3 stars because of its great location, price, and the staff (really helpful and kind).
I would’ve rated it less otherwise.
The beds and pillows were so uncomfortable,
And room really small.
Honestly I don’t recommend it if you have kids.
It’s OK otherwise but only for a short stay.
Great location, good price, quiet. In need of little refresh but did the job. I would recommand if on budget in the city.

Good, quiet location. Staff was helpful and very friendly. Would stay again.
I stayed here when I came for an exam. It's very close to the school and attractions. There's a bus stop right outside, and the room was spacious and great!
This is my second time staying at this hotel. I chose it because it's very close to Eikan-do and Nanzen-ji, which are great for viewing autumn leaves.
Now that I've stayed twice, I want to give a more thorough review of its pros and cons.
On the downside, the rooms aren't very soundproof. However, guests generally quiet down after 11 PM. But I could still hear snoring from the next room.

Good overall, however a few bits with the room. There is no mirror that we found in the room outside of the bathroom, there is also a window that we couldn’t see a way of blocking out light (no curtain). The hotel was also quite loud overnight, but probably expected due to the location. Not far at all from the station which is really handy. Good value for money.
The staff went above and beyond to help us. We were shocked by the lengths they went to ensure orur comfortability. I would have expected this kind of service from a 5 star hotel. Big shoutout to the staff working in nightshift 5th November. He helped with so many questions. Thanks again and highly recommended.
Basic hotel but the service and cleanliness of this hotel is beyond basic. The staff are extremely friendly and attentive. The hotel looks newly renovated and well-maintained. The room is good sized, private and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Very convenient as Kyoto station is about a 10-15mins walk away. It can be a little inconvenient to push your luggages to and from the train...
Rooms are spacious and clean. The location is great, it’s only a few blocks away from Kyoto station! The staff is very friendly too, and speak English which is a plus
A very good experience. The reception is present till 24 00, so we had no problem with a late check in. Very nice staff, they answered all our questions about moving around Kyoto and where to rent bikes.
We did not have breakfast because we did not want to, so I cannot say anything about it.
The room was super clean and had all facilities we needed. The bed was comfy. GREAT STAY OVERALL!!!
This is a budget hotel so manage your expectations on that.
Reception is welcoming and modern. Staff are very helpful and polite. Will hold your baggage free before check in time if you arrive early.
Room has everything it should. Comfy bed, shower, toilet, TV, kettle and hairdryer. I didn't find myself needing anything else. The location is brilliant. Very near Kyoto station and central Kyoto nightlife...

Great facility with close proximity to a lot of different shops and restaurants. Very kind and helpful staff.
Located near a major shopping, dining, and covered market district of Kyoto, less than a block from the subway and an underground grocery store and mall, Practically overlooking Nobunaga's Mausoleum, the hotel interior is artful decorated and the rooms are comfortable, quiet.
Location was good. Easy to travel around amenities. Walking distance to train and bus station. Plenty of good food and shopping around the area. Room is spacious. Bathroom has ample space too.
Amazing hotel right at the shopping street. For the money it was a mind-blowing.
Very quiet, very clean. The reception desk is very friendly and helpful.
I would recommend staying here and will come back eventually.
Words aren't enough, here's a pic of Honnoji Temple from my room! 🥰🥰
The room was a bit small, and the bathroom felt like one you'd find on an airplane or high-speed train. However, the cleanliness and service were both very good, and the location was excellent. I'd definitely consider staying here again on my next visit.

Fun hotel, design was awesome, exactly what you’re looking for in Japan. Bed was comfy & bathroom excellent
Location of the hotel was a short walk over the bridge to the underground Station.
Supermarket and bike hire over the road.
The room were dark due black walls.
Your beds were two mattress put down on a large piece of wood and bed sheets would come loose and mattress can move.
The storage under the bed was great tho

Wow! What a wonderful experience at Biwako Grand Hotel. Truly the most relaxing part of my Japan trip, the onsen was very beautiful, with fantastic views. We didn't end up getting a pure lake view, but it was still a beautiful and relaxing experience in the tatami room. It was a tad pricey, even for off-season, but with a wonderful kaiseki dinner, it was still a great time.
I booked the VIP room and it was huge! It really felt like a traditional ryokan, which was superb! Having the onsen right in the room was also fantastic, honestly. I absolutely loved my stay here. It was so relaxing, and the lake view was just magnificent. Since I'll be in Kyoto for the next few days, I'm definitely coming back for another night to enjoy the onsen and the stunning view of Lake Biwa...
We stayed one night at Biwako Grand Hotel Kyoomi and had a generally relaxing experience. The traditional tatami room was comfortable and suitable for staying with a young child. Breakfast was simple but acceptable. One suggestion is...
It was great that there were two large public baths for men and two for women, and they were open 24 hours. Thanks to this, the baths weren't crowded at all, even for such a large ryokan. Dinner was served in a grand banquet hall at a designated time, and it was so lavish that the dishes barely fit on the table – everything was delicious! The facilities are quite old, so I did notice noises like the...
The hotel rooms were really great because they had private baths and offered views of Lake Biwa! The rooms were spacious, perfect for families or friends on vacation! A resort hotel for a relaxing getaway. The view of the lake from the onsen is pleasant, as is the view from the balcony. I was pleased with the abundance of various skincare products in the onsen. I’ve stayed in Kyoto many times and I just have to say that this is one of the best values you’ll get for your money. I found the facilities to be very well kept and was a nice balance of modern and traditional design elements. The hotel has a nice restaurant and bar and a number of entertainment options throughout the week. The spa was very nice and the PJs in room with towel bag is a nice touch....
A lifesaver during the off-season! This is my favorite hotel chain; I absolutely love the decor. The service is also excellent. It's a top-notch Japanese hotel chain that I highly recommend.
Excellent hotel! The front desk staff were very welcoming. We usually check in using English when we're abroad, but here they even had Chinese service available. The facilities are a bit old, and there's a large public bath on the first floor separated by gender, but it's not a hot spring. The hotel also offers Kabuki performances.
Very clean, and the room was spacious. They also had a geisha performance every evening, which added a nice touch of local Kyoto culture. The hotel's location is good too; it's about a 10-minute walk to Kyoto Daimaru department store, which is very convenient.
I had a very comfortable 3-day stay at this hotel. It's right near a pedestrian street, which made it super convenient to walk to Smart Coffee. The large bathroom only has one tub, but it was very clean and the water temperature was perfect. I took a relaxing soak there every day. The front desk service was excellent, especially Wang! Amenties were provided in the lobby so you can help yourself to it anytime.
Overall, a really comfortable stay and I’d come back again!
Overall is good and they have Refa for shower and hairdryer. My only complaint is the room is quite dark, not have enough light/lamp..

Excellent! The room is quite spacious, big enough to open a 30-inch suitcase. Downstairs, there's a lounge area with coffee, hot water, and a restroom, perfect for early risers to get everything sorted before heading out with friends.
It was really good to stay at Resol, the staff were friendly, the rooms were clean, the location was excellent- right in the middle of the high street- but the hotel itself served as a sanctuary and can I add, the scent when you walked in was heavenly- I even bought their signature essential oil.

This hotel perfect for a stay out from bustling Kyoto city. a bit far, but very good location if you dont mind 10mins walk to JR station.
It was far from any station, about a 12-minute walk. It was also a bit far to call a taxi, and carrying heavy luggage was tiring.
Being a Toyoko Inn, there's nothing wrong with the hotel itself. The rooms are clean and the service is also excellent.
The only downside is the location.

Located behind the JR station which could take you to anywhere outside the town. Need to walk to other location within the town as there's no connecting train. The hotel is rather old but is ok to stay at affordable price. A restraurant within the hotel that serve good food.

This hotel was perfect for our stay in Kyoto. It was exceptionally clean, beautiful rooms and excellent customer service. My friend got sick half way through the night and the hotel let us book a separate room at 01:00 in the morning. It was a great location so we would definitely stay again!
The location is generally not far from the city center, and there's a supermarket and subway station within a ten-minute walk. The decor is quite new, and the bathroom is spacious.
It's a bit of a walk from Karasuma Oike subway station. There's a small supermarket nearby, and a Family Mart and 7-Eleven a little further down the road. The room layout is a bit odd; it could have had more space, but the strange design makes it feel smaller than it is.

well, i mistakenly choose the smoking room which made me feel very uncomfortable whole night. If you are going to visit Lake Biwa or Hikone Castle, staying at Reiah Hotel Otsu Ishiyama is very convenient for transportation and the price is much more affordable than hotels in Kyoto. The hotel breakfast is good and freshly ground coffee is available all day.
