One of the better APA hotels we have stayed at. We were originally in a smoking room. But they were able to switch us to a non-smoking room. We were very pleased with the rest of our stay there. Great location all in all and close to everything in the area.

Fortunately they booked us into a brand newly renovated room. Room smells spanky new, located is great for us as we can easily catch different buses to different corners of Kyoto to visit the major sites. And a beautiful authentic temple beside the hotel

Good overall, however a few bits with the room. There is no mirror that we found in the room outside of the bathroom, there is also a window that we couldn’t see a way of blocking out light (no curtain). The hotel was also quite loud overnight, but probably expected due to the location. Not far at all from the station which is really handy. Good value for money.

A very good experience. The reception is present till 24 00, so we had no problem with a late check in. Very nice staff, they answered all our questions about moving around Kyoto and where to rent bikes. We did not have breakfast because we did not want to, so I cannot say anything about it. Location of the hotel was a short walk over the bridge to the underground Station. Supermarket and bike hire over the road. The room were dark due black walls. Wow! What a wonderful experience at Biwako Grand Hotel. Truly the most relaxing part of my Japan trip, the onsen was very beautiful, with fantastic views. If you are planing a cheap hotel near Kyoto I recommend this one. Literally the hotel is in the station just get the elevator and go down and there you go you arrive attge station and after 2 stops 9 minutes you arrive at Kyoto station.

Located behind the JR station which could take you to anywhere outside the town. Need to walk to other location within the town as there's no connecting train. The hotel is rather old but is ok to stay at affordable price. A restraurant within the hotel that serve good food.

well, i mistakenly choose the smoking room which made me feel very uncomfortable whole night. It's my fault, I don't blame, but the ventilation is sooooo bad that I could always smell the smoking from my next-door neighbor. Others were ok. If you don't mind it's a bit old and you would just stay for a night, this is a good choice.

If you are going to visit Lake Biwa or Hikone Castle, staying at Reiah Hotel Otsu Ishiyama is very convenient for transportation and the price is much more affordable than hotels in Kyoto. The hotel breakfast is good and freshly ground coffee is available all day.
