The location is great! The wifi was problematic though...we ended up using our own sim cards. Facilties are a bit old, especially the heating. There's only 4 settings, not like an aircon remote. But otherwise beds are comfy and there was sufficient space for luggages.

The hotel is located right outside the Otsu Station ticket gates. Entering the property is through the attached bar and restaurant. Most of the nearby restaurants seem to close around 11pm. There are no cooking utensils, but you can bring your own food and drink in the common areas. There are also pots and water dispensers, so we were able to eat cup ramen inside the hotel.

The hotel is about 100 meters away from the subway exit, as long as you find the right exit. The room is not too small. The front desk is from Southeast Asia and the service is no problem. The room is quite large and the service is also very good. It's just a few steps away from the Kamo River beach, which is great for running and walking.

It was a fantastic stay. It snowed in Kyoto the night we checked in, but the hotel room was bright, spacious, and warm, making me feel completely relaxed. As a check-in gift, I received a Demachifutaba (named after bean cake) that I had been planning to buy the next day. It was such a treat! I have never had a hotel exceed my expectations in so many ways. The location is slightly away from the busy part of town, and after a day in Gion, that's exactly what I needed. The complimentary gifts and cosmetics were better than I had ever experienced. The staff was incredibly friendly and did their best to see that I had everything I needed. It was a very unique experience, although the walls were thin and we could hear a lot from other individuals, it was not that bad. This is a dormitory-style guesthouse next to Kyoto University, not a youth hostel, which is also its charm in my opinion. Living here requires consideration for others and certain climbing skills.
