Kyoto, 30 Otabi (2 km from centre) 🧭 Map
Excellent service and a fantastic location! It's surrounded by a bustling commercial street, making it incredibly convenient for getting around.
Great location with basic amenities. Good for tourist. Well recommended and situated in a good location Laundry facilities can be improved by having paid laundry and the machine being lockable. Had laundry taken out inconsiderate users when it’s not finished yet
The location is great!
The wifi was problematic though...we ended up using our own sim cards.
Facilties are a bit old, especially the heating. There's only 4 settings, not like an aircon remote.
But otherwise beds are comfy and there was sufficient space for luggages.
Old hotel with an entrance right at the station. Living on lower floors guarantees vibration from the trains and sound from the street. Location itself is great and price is adequate for the location.
The location couldn't be better. It's super convenient for visiting Arashiyama, Uji, and other places. Downstairs, you'll find popular shopping spots like Shinkyogoku Shopping Street, and Takashimaya is right across the street.
The Kyoto Central Hotel boasts an excellent location, right by the Hankyu station exit. The facilities are a bit dated, and you don't need a key card for power, but there are very few outlets. I booked a single room with a single bed but was given a standard room, which was a bit confusing. Living in the city center has its clear pros and cons: it's next to a subway station, making it convenient to...

My boyfriend and I stayed here 4 nights two months ago for our anniversary. We couldn't have dreamt of a better "home" in Kyoto, especially after reading 'In Praise of Shadows'. The suite was to die for: beautiful decoration, comfortable futons, an amazing heating system... What I loved the most, however, was the shared bath tub! And it's worth mentioning how helpful and kind Hazuki-san is, we couldn...
Couldn't have found a better place in the heart of Kyoto. The owner is amazing and very helpful for everything, location is perfect for exploring on foot. Highly recommend this ryokan for your stay in the city.
This was the perfect place to stay for our four nights in Kyoto. It is located in a quiet neighborhood that is close to many dining options and sites, but also close to public transportation if you need to go further.
The building itself is historic and beautiful and the owner is helpful and friendly. When I asked about shipping our bags ahead he said to just leave them in our room with an estimate...
This is such a beautiful inn! We were looked after so well and had such a comfortable stay. The bath is also excellent.
The property, rooms, and bathing room were beautiful. The staff was very helpful and friendly, and we’re able to give great recommendations. I’d definitely stay here again.

Really good location here. Really good location here. relax
Clean, quite and convenient. A very good place to stay a while.
The hotel is located right outside the Otsu Station ticket gates. Entering the property is through the attached bar and restaurant.
Most of the nearby restaurants seem to close around 11pm.
There are no cooking utensils, but you can bring your own food and drink in the common areas. There are also pots and water dispensers, so we were able to eat cup ramen inside the hotel.
Excellent establishment, the staff are very pleasant and everything is very clean.
I used it last time, and the location, directly connected to the station, is very convenient.
The showers, powder rooms, and other facilities are spacious and clean, making it a pleasant experience.
I'd like to use it again.
Excellent location, right at the station. Check in 16h00. No wifi offered. Hotel access via public restaurant - feels weird to walk between diners to go out / return.
Lockers far too narrow even for airline carry-on. Bathroom is clean, shower has small dry area, and water pressure varies. Capsules are spacious with power socket, lights, shelf, etc.
The mattress is a few cm thick piece of soft foam...

Outstanding hotel. The service was fantastic, best we’ve had in Japan. Great help booking restaurants and tours. And a great location. Can’t wait to come back!
We returned from a great stay at the Rinn Gion during Thanksgiving week 2025. If you are looking for a hotel on a quiet street outside of the busy city spots but steps from to , 7-11, and a short walk to the public train station, book this now! I must say the best part of our stay was the BEDS! They were SO comfortable with cozy bedcovers! Additionally, the room was a good size (we had two twins which...
Fantastic! The room was spotless and the service was excellent. I would definitely book here again.
This was my first time visiting Kyoto, and I chose to stay at a guesthouse. My experience was excellent! The host was incredibly welcoming and friendly. I would absolutely stay here again and plan to return to this guesthouse next year.
This hotel is incredibly close to many attractions. Upon entering, we were immediately greeted by the pleasant aroma of essential oils. Most nearby sights are easily reachable on foot, and it's super convenient for dining and shopping in the Shijo area. The hotel itself is quiet, and the rooms are surprisingly spacious. We also loved the complimentary small desserts. The in-room microwave was a fantastic...

I went there for lunch. It was a fine day, and the location was great. I was able to enjoy a relaxing meal in a calm atmosphere. All the dishes were seasoned to bring out the flavor of the ingredients, and the meat was tender and filling. It was a great menu that made me feel like it was autumn. I would definitely come back.
This was the last night of my trip to Lake Biwa with my high school classmates. If you call the hotel before taking the train or after arriving at Karasaki Station, there's a shuttle bus service (check the website for schedules).
I checked beforehand and it seems to be a KKR-affiliated hotel. Upon arrival, my first impression was, "The selection of shops is amazing!" They have everything from Lake...

New hotel with a clean, spacious room and everything you need. The area is nice and quiet at night, so I slept really well. The staff were friendly and helpful.
Staff was friendly and polite. Room is clean and comfortable. Location is a strong point as the hotel is very central and within walking distance to temples and shopping district.
For this price, the value for money is really good. However, they don't offer room cleaning, but they do provide towel changes. There's a free coffee machine on the first floor. The location on Huajian Road is also very convenient. Overall, the size of the room is perfectly fine for one person. Recommended!
Fantastic hotel. Great location, super helpful employees (who called a bike rental place for us), and good lobby with tea and coffee. There is no breakfast available, but we ususally got breakfast at a convenience store and ate it in the lobby. I would book here again.
Nice hotel and very well positioned! The receptionists are always happy to help you and generally they always speak English!
PS. They also sell the fragrance you can smell in the hotel, this is very nice!!

This was better then we expected. Really nice location, close to the old town (walking distance), but still quite. Some of our favorites restaurants where from the street next to the hotel.
Small but convenient and quiet and comfortable
Nice location in Gion, close to noteworthy points both at night and during the day
Very good value for money overall
The room was rather small; with two large suitcases open, space had to be cleverly utilized. Room cleaning was done at fixed times, every other day, but towels were changed and trash disposed of daily upon request. The room seemed well soundproofed; I heard very little noise during my four-night stay. The hotel is located in a small alley; the road in front is a 17-minute walk from Kiyomizu-dera Temple...
I thought the location would be a bit off-putting, considering it's a bit far from Kyoto Station, but it's also close to Kiyomizu-dera Temple, and there were more restaurants and attractions nearby than I expected! The facilities were nice, and most importantly, the staff were friendly!
I was staying alone, so there was no need for an extra bed. The room was spacious enough for one person, and could even accommodate two people with luggage. However, you need to pick up your own toothbrush and toothpaste from a designated area when you go upstairs, as there are none in the bathroom. The best thing about this place is its proximity to Gion-Shijo (within 10 minutes) and Kiyomizu-dera...
Clean, the front desk staff is friendly and amiable, the location is close to Kiyomizu Temple, the toilet is big enough, there are water dispensers, ice machines and ice buckets for guests to use, the only drawback is that there is no cleaning service (you need to pay extra)

Amazing location, staff were excellent, cleanly and lots of space. Wish we could have stayed longer! 10/10.
Very nice hotel, prime location, staff was amazing !! Would most certainly stay at this location next visit
Hidden gem.
In the heart of it all.. what a great location. All the hotels in the surrounding area are extremely over priced with less of a view. This hotel is amazing with affordable prices. We stayed at a discount! It was nice to be clean.
We booked again, different room. This one was better than the last. No complaints besides a noisy heater unit(not noisy on low)
A nice airbnb. Very modern and located very good inside Kyōto.

It was a fantastic experience! The Japanese style was absolutely wonderful. The moment I opened the door, I was captivated by the tree-lined path. Perfect location! We had a wonderful, memorable stay here. Tucked in a gorgeous, shrine-filled neighborhood in Kyoto, this traditional ryokan featured views from our room of a beautiful garden, and way more space than we needed. This ryokan was the best part of our trip to Japan! Would stay there again. Delicious breakfast and lovely hosts.
Near Kiyomizu Temple, the hotel faces the street and has a small facade. When you open the door, you will find a hidden world. Follow the winding stone road to reach the old house. The small town of Otsu is a place I really love. It's quiet, not crowded with tourists, and right next to Lake Biwa.
