Otsu, 4-7-7 Nionohama (2 km from centre) 🧭 Map
Overlooking lake biwa room! From far you could also see the snow mountain ! You can walk around the lake in the morning!
Very good, the room was spacious with a pleasant view from the window.
Personally, I felt the breakfast on the 36th floor was better than on the 37th.
Aside from its location by Lake Biwa, this is a very ordinary hotel with basically no service. The air conditioning was uncomfortable, either too cold or too dry. The windows were also dirty, making it hard to see the Lake Biwa scenery clearly.
Didn’t give me highest floor but the design is so cool and it’s the highest building and is very nice and clean and 24 hr check in also have shuttle bus
The lakeside room is incomparable to general street view or building view hotels, giving guests the feeling of exceptional value. It is difficult to find such spacious rooms at the same price in other hotels in Japan. The facilities are clean, and the bathtub space is sufficient, all of which make guests feel comfortable.
This hotel is located right by the lake, offering fantastic views. There's a free shuttle bus to and from the subway station, which makes going out for food and shopping very convenient. It's especially handy if you're driving, as guest parking is free. The rooms are spacious and tidy. Definitely a top choice if you have a car.

This is an excellent hotel! While it's a bit pricey, the service and quality of the stay are absolutely worth it. The front desk staff were all incredibly friendly during check-in and even upgraded our room. We had a fantastic view of the sports ground, and the room itself was spacious. The bathroom with its wet/dry separation was very comfortable overall. Breakfast was also a pleasant surprise. Although...
Fantastic polished hotel for families with kids. Location is at the heart of Kyoto's food and commerce areas - Takashimaya, Nishiki / Teramachi markets, and lots of restaurants and shops are all within 5-7 mins walking distance. Kamo River is just a couple of minutes walk away and we rented a bike from a shop near Shijo station.l to cycle along the river. Great fun! That said, from Kyoto Station, you...
This was my second stay here, and the location is truly excellent, especially during cherry blossom season. The only downside was the concierge service at the entrance; the hotel might want to consider replacing that person, as they seemed grumpy and unhelpful. Everything else was quite good. The room was clean and tidy. While it was a bit pricey due to the cherry blossom season, the great location...
Excellent location right by the Takase River! Super convenient for cherry blossom viewing and shopping. The only issues were the small room and the fact that my request to avoid end rooms was completely ignored; they still put me in the first room next to the elevator. Ctrip helped me get a room change, so I was reasonably satisfied. Check-out was very easy, just left the room.
The hotel's location is excellent, right next to a commercial center, and the rooms offer a view of the Kamo River. What was most unexpected was the hotel offering a free chanting performance for guests, which was a very unique experience. The executive lounge had drinks, snacks, and roasted marshmallows. Unfortunately, I missed out on the Japanese breakfast in the morning, as there were only 30 servings...
The room was spacious enough for me to move around freely even with my luggage spread out! The bathroom was huge and spotless! The location is absolutely fantastic! There's a small river right outside the entrance, lined with cherry blossom trees! Plus, it's super convenient for shopping and dining!

I used a pre-purchased room voucher, and it was such an amazing deal! The hotel is right near Otsu Station and is absolutely beautiful. The room was huge, with a direct view of Lake Biwa. Unfortunately, I only stayed one night this time and didn't get to fully enjoy the hotel's facilities. Plus, the staff were incredibly service-oriented. We mistakenly thought the drop-off point for the shuttle at...
I loved everything about this hotel. The cleanliness was outstanding — easily one of the cleanest hotels I’ve ever stayed in. The staff provided great service and were always helpful and friendly.
The hotel offers a shuttle bus to the train station, which made getting around very convenient. The food was delicious, especially the breakfast, with good quality and variety.
The highlight for me was...
What’s a good location there ..this is my second times live there ..,free car park …pretty sea view …very good onsen ..100 marks
Facilities: A bit dated.
Cleanliness: Very clean.
Ambiance: Comfortable.
Service: Warm and friendly ❤️
Definitely lives up to its reputation as a long-standing hotel.
The scenery by Lake Biwa is stunning. Standing on the balcony, the view is picturesque.
Upgraded the room for an additional 4000 yen upon check-in, and it felt well worth the money.
This hotel is located right by Lake Biwa, and every room boasts a large balcony where you can take in the stunning lake views. It's truly refreshing and uplifting!
The hotel offers a convenient shuttle bus service right from the JR station, with pretty good frequency. Although you could walk to the hotel, providing a shuttle for this distance really shows their thoughtfulness.
The onsen (hot spring...
The hotel's shuttle bus stop is right across the street from JR Station, with departures every half hour. It only takes a few minutes to reach the hotel. The hotel restaurant is lovely, and lunch is a semi-buffet. Breakfast is served in a dedicated breakfast room with a wide variety of delicious food. There's also a hot spring bath available at the hotel.

The hotel's location is fantastic! It's just a 5-minute walk from the subway station and right in a lively residential area. Eating and shopping are incredibly convenient, and it's even within walking distance to several attractions!
Everything in Japan gets more expensive around New Year's, and this hotel was no exception. It has a really cool, stylish design, which I loved! However, it's right next to a cemetery. So, if that's something that bothers you, you might want to reconsider. Overall though, it was a very good stay.
This hotel boasts an excellent location, making it incredibly convenient for getting around, shopping, and running errands. The surrounding amenities are comprehensive, and transportation is hassle-free. The breakfast selection is extensive, offering both Western and Chinese options that are fresh, delicious, and satisfying. The room was clean and tidy, and the service was warm and attentive. This hotel is in a great location nearly next to Nishiki Market. Around the hotel is very quiet.
The room we received was facing the graveyard, I’m not sure why there are so many negatives reviews about it but we had no problems with it. No ****** visited us😋😅

Hotel is clear and close to city centre. Room size is good and large.
Absolutely enjoyed our stay at Mitsui. It’s right in the middle o the bustling city yet the surrounding area has a somewhat more laidback vibe. Breakfast is superb, the onsen is very relaxing, our room was tastefully designed and spacious enough for two. We joined in the early morning temple ritual that cleared our headspace and given us spiritual grounding..This is now one of my best kept secret when...

The hotel was beyond my expectations—absolutely perfect! It's located in the heart of Kyoto, yet it was incredibly quiet at night. The room had a lovely traditional feel. I'd definitely stay here again. Plus, they even have a happy hour!
The room's design is very well-thought-out; you take off your shoes before entering, and it's clean and tidy. There's an openable window, so it doesn't feel cramped like a typical business hotel. The breakfast is quite impressive, even for a high-end Japanese hotel. The popular tempura bar is great when it's fresh out of the fryer, and the menu changes daily.
The lounge (pictured in photo 5) is a...
The hotel is small but very clean and comfortable, and they offer a free shuttle to the airport and train station. The service is also excellent; the shuttle driver helped every passenger with their luggage, and even placed a footstool outside the door when we got off, which was incredibly thoughtful.
Excellent service. Great hotel staff!
Room is spacious with all amenities.
Parking requires early reservation, 2000JPY/night.
They provide walking tours (free) and shuttle service.
This hotel boasts a quiet location, tucked away on a peaceful lane, yet it's only about a 10-minute walk to the bustling city center and many attractions, which I really appreciated. The staff were friendly and polite, and the room hygiene met standards. The hot spring was uncrowded and clean, both inside and out. The only thing that wasn't ideal was the hotel restaurant. The hotel is very close to the Kamo River, and it's conveniently located on a main road, making it easy to get to the bustling commercial area. The facilities are relatively new and pleasant to look at. However, the dinner for the hotel's 'one night, two meals' plan was too small; we had to order extra dishes to feel full! Overall, we were quite satisfied!
Comfy stay and simple breakfast
This hotel exceeded all my expectations. The atmosphere was elegant and relaxing, making it a perfect place to unwind. The rooms were spotlessly clean, beautifully designed, and very comfortable.

Very rare experience to stay in a designer decorative room. Walking distance to the busy city centre too. Only down side is the size, not suitable if you have big luggages.
The location is excellent, about a 5-minute walk from the Shijo Kawaramachi intersection. There's a 7-Eleven right at the corner downstairs, and a FamilyMart within two minutes. The room is quite large; even with two suitcases fully open, it doesn't cause any problems. As an art gallery-style hotel, you should definitely choose a room with a style you like, otherwise it might affect your sleep. There...
Very wonderful staff. Our original room was double booked so they accommodated us very well by giving us their suite on the second night of our stay. The experience of each room was quite magical. I thoroughly enjoyed this hotel and would stay here again.
We really loved the hotel! We stayed from August 31st to September 7th, 2025. The rooms are spacious. We had a room with TVs, but I could see other rooms from the hallway. 😁 If you choose a random room, don't worry, they're all nice. The website doesn't have all the photos, but some are really interesting. The hotel is trendy and youthful. They provided an iron and extra toiletries—washcloths, lotions...
Clean, the overall design is novel, the owner must be an artist.
The hotel is very unique , it has exhibits in each room which is very unique but eats up a lot of space in the room. So the room feels cramped . There’s no space to walk and open bags not unless it’s a big room.

The location is excellent. There's a bar where you can exchange tokens for free drinks. The hot spring bath is also complimentary, which makes it good value for money.
Best hotel stayed in this Japan trip!
Free coffee and refill drinking water in the lobby area at level 2
Given 4 coins total for 2 night stays to redeem drinks (wine, beer, sake, non alcoholic drink) at a bar
Front counter staffs are friendly and can request to borrow umbrella on rainy days

We wanted a hotel in Gion with a public bath/onsen and Kyoto Granbell fit the bill. Originally we booked a moderate twin 18m2 but I was worried it would be too small so we upgraded to the Japanese twin 22sq meters and it was exactly what we wanted. The room was spacious and felt very comfortable. We had enough room to spread out and it feel like we were on top of each other. The lobby area is great...
Nicely designed boutique hotel. Cannot comment on the food as we didn’t take this option but room was clean and practically designed. Staff very professional and friendly. Located well for good restaurant choices.
The room is on the smaller side, but the bed is incredibly comfortable. The breakfast offers a great variety, and the lobby lounge area is very cozy. Plus, there's a hot spring on B1 which, though not huge, is wonderfully relaxing. The location is super convenient for getting around, with easy access to transport and plenty of dining options nearby.
Love how it is located nearby Gion and tourist area.
The hotel is beautiful and well located, public bathroom issues also great. Staffs are super friendly and helpful.
On the other side, room is too small. Automatic toilet has very bad smell and cannot get rid of that smell. Drying machines at the laundry are super dirty, after washing and drying, tons of dust on my clothes.
Right in Gion! Very convenient:)
Loved the huge bed! This bed is probably the biggest I’ve seen in Japan 😂

It's a lovely, quiet oasis within the Higashiyama Ward, and we look forward to another visit soon!
My wife and I just returned from our honeymoon at The Hotel Seiryu Kyoto Kiyomizu, and we are still floating from the experience. This stunning property, beautifully restored from a historic school building, exceeded every expectation and made our stay in Kyoto truly magical.

Banda Down the beat hotel ever. Traditional interior and breakfast truly are the most marvelous experience you can ever wish for. The stuff is very kind and helpful. Everyone should stay in a Ryokan at least once in their lives.
The hotel rooms are generally too small and compact. There is a local cemetery behind it. It is not recommended to stay there. It is also difficult to find. It is located in a small alley with poor signage. It is not recommended to stay there.

The room is OK, with a normal Japanese layout, but the price/performance ratio is not high, especially if the window is not facing the Kamo River, it is just an ordinary Japanese hotel
I stayed at this hotel in 2016. This time I booked it for my friend. It still feels a bit old. It's quite comfortable to walk along the nearby Kamogawa River, and the sanitation is also very clean.
Ryokan 10 minutes from the metro, relatively clean and quiet. Friendly, attentive staff but speaking little English. The room is clean but small for 4. Considering the services, the onsen not working, it is relatively expensive because a little out of the way
A few girls were traveling together, and because they were booked too late, there were not many Japanese-style hotels to choose from. This one pretty much meets our requirements.
The ladies at the front desk were lovely and the rooms were beautiful!
with my friends we spent two nights in the Tazuru ryokan because we particularly wanted to try this kind of experience, in full Japanese style. Considering the place, the view and the beauty of the hotel I think it's well worth the money.

Incredible staff, clean facilities, great location
The location, staff, atmosphere, experiences were all exceptional.
We had a sukiyaki dinner in our room one night. It was delicious and unforgettable.
Stayed with my daughter for one night! We liked everything! The room is large, with a separate toilet and a separate bathroom. There is a table in the room and a table with chairs on the equipped balcony. There is a sink on the balcony. The view from the window is of Maruyami Park. We paid for breakfast - for me it was very tasty and beautiful, but my daughter did not even try anything (this was expected...
+ Clean rooms in traditional Japanese style, have everything you need, interesting experience of staying. Good service, friendly staff.
- The ryokan is still outdated. Check-in is from 16:00, and check-out is until 10:00, which is very inconvenient. The latest breakfast is 08:30, which is too early. This is especially inconvenient for guests who come from Western countries, who have a big time difference...
Great service, food amazing. The sukiyaki we got the second night was so good! The building is quite aged but they do their best with top notch hospitality, food and service.
Very nice staff with traditional kimono and hospitality. The Japanese style breakfasts and dinners were great.

This is a well located hotel with excellent breakfast and room service.
The hotel is 2-min walking distance from Yamashina train station, which is only one stop away from Kyoto.
The Japanese style breakfast with abundant choices is impressive and of the highest quality. The tranquility and considerate room service make our stay in Kyoto an remarkable experience.
Definitely 100% recommended!
I stayed here 3 nights in Kyoto although the location is not near any major tourist areas its a lovely hotel right off the train line. In fact you simply go down the stairs to get to the station. I had a great view from my room and staff were so kind. Will absolutely stay here again on my next trip to Kyoto!
The hotel is right by the Yamashina JR and subway station, easy access to Kyoto and other cities nearby. The front desk people are so polite and make guests feel welcome and respected. The room has everything you need for amenities, the onsen was great, I’m happy I found this hotel and enjoyed the stay very much. Highly recommended!
This hotel is right outside of a train station with restaurants and stores nearby. However no tourist sites. I enjoyed the women's only hot and wet sauna area with shampoo bar. Aoki, an English speaking receptionist, was extremely helpful during my three night stay. My elderly cousin didn't know how to operate the door with her key card, and Aoki kindly showed her how. She also facilitated our luggage...
The hotel quality is great! Love the beauty products and ladies spa. The breakfast buffet does not disappoint. One stop from Kyoto station and underground access to Yamashina station. The staff is kind and helpful. Thank you!
The location is great, only one train ride from Kyoto station, but in a quieter area, with a Muji supermarket nearby.
