Lake Biwa Otsu Prince Hotel, Otsu1 / 30
9.0
Otsu, 4-7-7 Nionohama (2 km from centre) 🧭 Map
Overlooking lake biwa room! From far you could also see the snow mountain ! You can walk around the lake in the morning!
Very good, the room was spacious with a pleasant view from the window. Personally, I felt the breakfast on the 36th floor was better than on the 37th.
Aside from its location by Lake Biwa, this is a very ordinary hotel with basically no service. The air conditioning was uncomfortable, either too cold or too dry. The windows were also dirty, making it hard to see the Lake Biwa scenery clearly.
Didn’t give me highest floor but the design is so cool and it’s the highest building and is very nice and clean and 24 hr check in also have shuttle bus
The lakeside room is incomparable to general street view or building view hotels, giving guests the feeling of exceptional value. It is difficult to find such spacious rooms at the same price in other hotels in Japan. The facilities are clean, and the bathtub space is sufficient, all of which make guests feel comfortable.
This hotel is located right by the lake, offering fantastic views. There's a free shuttle bus to and from the subway station, which makes going out for food and shopping very convenient. It's especially handy if you're driving, as guest parking is free. The rooms are spacious and tidy. Definitely a top choice if you have a car.

Great facility, helpful staff, nearby subway. Very well designed hotel
The best Marriott experience! The pillows and bedding were incredibly clean and comfortable. The staff noticed we'd bought our own water and thoughtfully added two extra bottles of mineral water to our room. The breakfast was incredibly rich and delicious! So worth it! My daughter said she wants to stay here again next time we visit Kyoto! Too bad I forgot to take pictures of the amazing breakfast
The hotel is new and very clean, with comfortable rooms. The only downside is that it doesn't have a window. They offer free coffee and a public bath. Overall, it's excellent.
The hotel's facilities are excellent. The room layout is well-designed and user-friendly, making everything easily accessible. Even after a five-day stay, I didn't feel bored. The hotel also offers a public bath, a mini-gym, and a free Nespresso machine, so all the amenities are really comprehensive. The location is also very convenient. The hotel is situated in the relatively quiet area of Nijo,...
This hotel felt average. It was also a ten minute walk from the city.
Love this place with spacious room, cozy bed, amazing amenities. Would recommend my friends too!

I was very pleased with the hotel room design, comfort and space. The parking is first come first serve even though I had requested for it earlier so I had to park elsewhere for the first few nights. Location is excellent. Staff even found my discarded SIM card and were honest to callback and inform me about it.
I chose this hotel because they mentioned to have parking spot however it was very disappointed. Everyday you have to go somewhere else to park and pay a very high fee. The reception is not very helpful and feel very frustrated. The hot spring is dirty and packed with people.
good location, spacious room and cozy design, just the sound proof not good and the noise from the traffic is quite disturbing at the night. Thanks frontline for arranging luggage transfer to my next stop.
A little bit expensive...breakfast is ok...services is good
Location: Superb! Located between 2 stations - SANJO and Kyoto shiyakusho-Mae station. Shiyakusho-Mae is nearer to the hotel (exit 1),  about a min walk away after climbing two flights of stairs. However, if you have luggage, would suggest to go via exit 3, take the lift to another hotel lobby (I can’t recall the hotel name). Solaris is across the street from this hotel. I don’t see any lift if taking...
Very good stay, hotel staff very friendly. Room room size is okay for 2 pax. Just by the Kamo River, love the morning walks just by the river. Food and shopping conveniently by the hotel location.

This is an excellent hotel! While it's a bit pricey, the service and quality of the stay are absolutely worth it. The front desk staff were all incredibly friendly during check-in and even upgraded our room. We had a fantastic view of the sports ground, and the room itself was spacious. The bathroom with its wet/dry separation was very comfortable overall. Breakfast was also a pleasant surprise. Although...
Fantastic polished hotel for families with kids. Location is at the heart of Kyoto's food and commerce areas - Takashimaya, Nishiki / Teramachi markets, and lots of restaurants and shops are all within 5-7 mins walking distance. Kamo River is just a couple of minutes walk away and we rented a bike from a shop near Shijo station.l to cycle along the river. Great fun! That said, from Kyoto Station, you...
This was my second stay here, and the location is truly excellent, especially during cherry blossom season. The only downside was the concierge service at the entrance; the hotel might want to consider replacing that person, as they seemed grumpy and unhelpful. Everything else was quite good. The room was clean and tidy. While it was a bit pricey due to the cherry blossom season, the great location...
Excellent location right by the Takase River! Super convenient for cherry blossom viewing and shopping. The only issues were the small room and the fact that my request to avoid end rooms was completely ignored; they still put me in the first room next to the elevator. Ctrip helped me get a room change, so I was reasonably satisfied. Check-out was very easy, just left the room.
The hotel's location is excellent, right next to a commercial center, and the rooms offer a view of the Kamo River. What was most unexpected was the hotel offering a free chanting performance for guests, which was a very unique experience. The executive lounge had drinks, snacks, and roasted marshmallows. Unfortunately, I missed out on the Japanese breakfast in the morning, as there were only 30 servings...
The room was spacious enough for me to move around freely even with my luggage spread out! The bathroom was huge and spotless! The location is absolutely fantastic! There's a small river right outside the entrance, lined with cherry blossom trees! Plus, it's super convenient for shopping and dining!

I used a pre-purchased room voucher, and it was such an amazing deal! The hotel is right near Otsu Station and is absolutely beautiful. The room was huge, with a direct view of Lake Biwa. Unfortunately, I only stayed one night this time and didn't get to fully enjoy the hotel's facilities. Plus, the staff were incredibly service-oriented. We mistakenly thought the drop-off point for the shuttle at...
I loved everything about this hotel. The cleanliness was outstanding — easily one of the cleanest hotels I’ve ever stayed in. The staff provided great service and were always helpful and friendly. The hotel offers a shuttle bus to the train station, which made getting around very convenient. The food was delicious, especially the breakfast, with good quality and variety. The highlight for me was...
What’s a good location there ..this is my second times live there ..,free car park …pretty sea view …very good onsen ..100 marks
Facilities: A bit dated. Cleanliness: Very clean. Ambiance: Comfortable. Service: Warm and friendly ❤️ Definitely lives up to its reputation as a long-standing hotel. The scenery by Lake Biwa is stunning. Standing on the balcony, the view is picturesque. Upgraded the room for an additional 4000 yen upon check-in, and it felt well worth the money.
This hotel is located right by Lake Biwa, and every room boasts a large balcony where you can take in the stunning lake views. It's truly refreshing and uplifting! The hotel offers a convenient shuttle bus service right from the JR station, with pretty good frequency. Although you could walk to the hotel, providing a shuttle for this distance really shows their thoughtfulness. The onsen (hot spring...
The hotel's shuttle bus stop is right across the street from JR Station, with departures every half hour. It only takes a few minutes to reach the hotel. The hotel restaurant is lovely, and lunch is a semi-buffet. Breakfast is served in a dedicated breakfast room with a wide variety of delicious food. There's also a hot spring bath available at the hotel.

This was my second stay, so I didn't take any photos of the hotel. All I can say is that the hotel's location is absolutely fantastic! You can pretty much walk to everywhere you want to go, and strolling around and experiencing the city along the way is such a wonderful feeling. Also, the beds in the hotel are incredibly comfortable – just the right firmness – ensuring a good night's sleep. For such...
The hotel's location is really great; I love the Isomaru right across the street. This time, though, I encountered a staff member who wasn't very sharp. The main draw is how comfortable it is right by the Takase River, and Ogawa Coffee, just one traffic light away, is also delicious.
This is the seventh hotel I've stayed at in Kyoto. I've evolved from initially choosing hotels near Kyoto Station, primarily relying on buses for getting around, to now staying in the city center and using the subway more often. It's best to pick accommodation based on your personal travel needs. The hotel's front desk has plenty of staff; the experienced young and middle-aged employees are efficient...
The room was pretty good overall, with enough space for two suitcases. The hotel's location is excellent, surrounded by lively shops and restaurants, making it convenient for both dining and exploring. I highly recommend the bakery next door for breakfast; my daughter and I ate there twice and still talk about it!
My friend recommended this hotel. It's in a prime location, right by the Kamo River, making transportation very convenient. Shopping and dining are even easier. The hotel is a bit older. Our triple room with an extra bed and a large sofa felt a bit cramped. The sofa was actually a bit unnecessary; it would have been better to have that space for luggage. The breakfast was decent, and the staff were...
Environment: The location is excellent. Right outside the hotel, there are three streets, and a 2-minute walk to the left takes you to "Kamo River," while a 1-minute walk to the right leads to the bustling "Nishiki Market." Although the room was small, it had everything we needed. The staff were very welcoming and the room was very clean. The location is quite convenient; Nishiki Market is less than a 10-minute walk away.
This hotel was perfect for our stay in Kyoto. It was exceptionally clean, beautiful rooms and excellent customer service. My friend got sick half way through the night and the hotel let us book a separate room at 01:00 in the morning. It was a great location so we would definitely stay again!
The location is generally not far from the city center, and there's a supermarket and subway station within a ten-minute walk. The decor is quite new, and the bathroom is spacious.
It's a bit of a walk from Karasuma Oike subway station. There's a small supermarket nearby, and a Family Mart and 7-Eleven a little further down the road. The room layout is a bit odd; it could have had more space, but the strange design makes it feel smaller than it is.
We enjoyed our stay in this hotel. The rooms were cleaned everyday. It had a Nespresso (pixie) in the room with 2 free pods. The bed was comfy. I’m not a big fan of the pillows but I was able to sleep well anyway. The location is okay.
Location is fine...services is excellent...I will come again next time.

We wanted a hotel in Gion with a public bath/onsen and Kyoto Granbell fit the bill. Originally we booked a moderate twin 18m2 but I was worried it would be too small so we upgraded to the Japanese twin 22sq meters and it was exactly what we wanted. The room was spacious and felt very comfortable. We had enough room to spread out and it feel like we were on top of each other. The lobby area is great...
Nicely designed boutique hotel. Cannot comment on the food as we didn’t take this option but room was clean and practically designed. Staff very professional and friendly. Located well for good restaurant choices.
The room is on the smaller side, but the bed is incredibly comfortable. The breakfast offers a great variety, and the lobby lounge area is very cozy. Plus, there's a hot spring on B1 which, though not huge, is wonderfully relaxing. The location is super convenient for getting around, with easy access to transport and plenty of dining options nearby.
Love how it is located nearby Gion and tourist area.
The hotel is beautiful and well located, public bathroom issues also great. Staffs are super friendly and helpful. On the other side, room is too small. Automatic toilet has very bad smell and cannot get rid of that smell. Drying machines at the laundry are super dirty, after washing and drying, tons of dust on my clothes.
Right in Gion! Very convenient:) Loved the huge bed! This bed is probably the biggest I’ve seen in Japan 😂 Room was sufficient, they provided everything we needed, spacious enough to open two suitcases. The hotel provides snacks and coffee at the lobby. Nice!

Staying at Ishicho was a great experience! The staff were incredibly friendly and the room and onsen were very nice! I would definitely recommend staying here.
Incredibly friendly and helpful staff, amazing breakfast and dinner, and a very unique hotel room experience. The onsen was the icing on the cake!
Me and a friend stayed for two nights as we wanted to explore areas of the Kansai region. It was such a nice experience! We stayed at Gion Kyoka in Kyoto in late January 2026 and had a wonderful experience. Advantages: clean, large space, good bedding, good service attitude, and daily bed service and towel change. Disadvantages: The bathroom has no heating, the hot water is not hot enough, and you won’t want to take a bath in the winter... Very rare experience to stay in a designer decorative room. Walking distance to the busy city centre too. Only down side is the size, not suitable if you have big luggages.
The location is excellent, about a 5-minute walk from the Shijo Kawaramachi intersection. There's a 7-Eleven right at the corner downstairs, and a FamilyMart within two minutes. The room is quite large; even with two suitcases fully open, it doesn't cause any problems. As an art gallery-style hotel, you should definitely choose a room with a style you like, otherwise it might affect your sleep. There...

It should be a B&B, but it's a little different from what I imagined. From the outside, I thought it was a pub.
I stayed in this hotel a few years ago and visited it again. The king-size bed room is much smaller than the twin bed room. The minibar in the room is free but the drinks are not tasty. The overall decoration style of the hotel is very good.
I loved staying at this hotel! It had such a cool, funky vibe. The location is very convenient for seeing the sites but being out of the hustle and bustle when you want to relax. Great accommodation, clean and tidy, with complete facilities. The kitchen is very convenient for cooking. The front desk staff is very thoughtful and provides Sekkisei skin care products. Highly recommended.
Very well located, a little noisy at night, and the beds were not very comfortable, to stay for a few days it is a good option due to its location
Very good, clean and comfortable, with complete kitchen utensils

Very nice hotel. Lots of space, and steps from the metro. The outdoor area in our suite was very nice!
An excellent option for those looking for a comfortable and well-designed stay in Kyoto. It's especially suitable for travelers who value: a convenient location, cleanliness and good service, the ability to live "like home" (with a kitchen and laundry facilities). On the downside, the table isn't very comfortable... (where you could have a drink and a meal).
Friendly staff. Clean. 15 mins walking distance to Gion and shopping street.
advantage: The location is good, the attached hand soap, body wash, and shampoo are very high-end, the room is nice and tidy, the lighting is good, and the breakfast is good (meal coupon for sandwich in the cafe next door) shortcoming: There is a kitchen in the room. Occasionally, there will be a little smell wafting out, maybe a few times (I thought it was us, but it wasn't), and it is a bit inconvenient...
Too much regulation, need to put key at front desk when go out every time! Cant leave luggage after check out.
The location is close to the Kyoto business district of Shijo. Those who drive themselves should pay attention to parking issues. Parking fees in Kyoto are not cheap. The connecting rooms are very convenient for family travel. The hotel is neat and clean.
