Lake Biwa Otsu Prince Hotel, Otsu1 / 30
9.0
Otsu, 4-7-7 Nionohama (2 km from centre) 🧭 Map
Overlooking lake biwa room! From far you could also see the snow mountain ! You can walk around the lake in the morning!
Very good, the room was spacious with a pleasant view from the window. Personally, I felt the breakfast on the 36th floor was better than on the 37th.
Aside from its location by Lake Biwa, this is a very ordinary hotel with basically no service. The air conditioning was uncomfortable, either too cold or too dry. The windows were also dirty, making it hard to see the Lake Biwa scenery clearly.
Didn’t give me highest floor but the design is so cool and it’s the highest building and is very nice and clean and 24 hr check in also have shuttle bus
The lakeside room is incomparable to general street view or building view hotels, giving guests the feeling of exceptional value. It is difficult to find such spacious rooms at the same price in other hotels in Japan. The facilities are clean, and the bathtub space is sufficient, all of which make guests feel comfortable.
This hotel is located right by the lake, offering fantastic views. There's a free shuttle bus to and from the subway station, which makes going out for food and shopping very convenient. It's especially handy if you're driving, as guest parking is free. The rooms are spacious and tidy. Definitely a top choice if you have a car.

Location is good. Easy to assess. Booked for city view but given a closed window request for a change but a carpark view. Just abit disappointed cos booked for a city view for night but not accordingly to the booking given. Overall is ok.
The room was clean and tidy, and the customer service was professional and polite. The facilities were complete, and the lobby had a beautiful lounge area with free coffee. My requests made through Ctrip customer service before check-in were also met. Most importantly, the location is excellent, with many great food options nearby and beautiful scenery. Highly recommended.
Spacious room. Not crowded hotel. Very convenient location. Near 2 metro stations and street shopping. Comfortable bed.
The layout is well-designed, and the room is spacious. Pulling back the curtains was a delightful surprise: a lively yet serene snowfall. I went down to the hotel's lobby for a cup of matcha and enjoyed the beautiful view.
Traveling from Osaka to Kyoto, I stayed at the Cross Hotel for two nights, and overall, it met my expectations. The room was clean, tidy, and had a Japanese-style feel. The hotel lobby was also spacious, bright, and clean. The location was excellent, offering a peaceful retreat despite being in a bustling area; it was surprisingly quiet at night. My only minor complaint was that the room window was...
All great in a good location. Comfortable stay. Perfect. Highly recommended.

Every time I visit Kyoto these past few years, I always stay at this hotel. The location is excellent, right in Sanjo Kawaramachi, very close to the Kamo River. There are tons of shopping and dining options nearby. The hygiene is good, and toiletries can be conveniently picked up from the lobby. The room attendants are warm, attentive, and polite. However, the service standard of the lobby staff has...
Nice convenient location to stay if you’re looking to spend time in Nishiki market
Locations are convenient to all the shopping belt.
The service was good, but the room was a bit small. A heads-up: even though I booked a double room, it was listed as single occupancy on Trip.com. If two people stay, you'll need to pay an extra fee at the hotel. The great advantage is the excellent location – it's super convenient and you'll practically pass by it no matter where you're going within the three nearby streets.
We really enjoyed staying at this hotel. Check-in and check-out were super quick, and the room was just the right size for two carry-on suitcases. Every day they give you a complimentary bottle of water, which is a nice touch. Super nice amenities! The shower was great, and I loved the lavender shampoo and conditioner. The only downside was the limited space beside the sink for cosmetics. The bed...
My stay here was absolutely fantastic! From the moment I stepped in, the staff were incredibly welcoming and provided attentive service throughout, always going above and beyond to assist with any request. The room facilities were comprehensive and brand new, and the environment was spotlessly clean, quiet, and comfortable. Both the front desk and room service made me feel truly at home. Great facility, helpful staff, nearby subway. Very well designed hotel
The best Marriott experience! The pillows and bedding were incredibly clean and comfortable. The staff noticed we'd bought our own water and thoughtfully added two extra bottles of mineral water to our room. The breakfast was incredibly rich and delicious! So worth it! My daughter said she wants to stay here again next time we visit Kyoto! Too bad I forgot to take pictures of the amazing breakfast
The hotel is new and very clean, with comfortable rooms. The only downside is that it doesn't have a window. They offer free coffee and a public bath. Overall, it's excellent.
The hotel's facilities are excellent. The room layout is well-designed and user-friendly, making everything easily accessible. Even after a five-day stay, I didn't feel bored. The hotel also offers a public bath, a mini-gym, and a free Nespresso machine, so all the amenities are really comprehensive. The location is also very convenient. I was very pleased with the hotel room design, comfort and space. The parking is first come first serve even though I had requested for it earlier so I had to park elsewhere for the first few nights. Location is excellent. Staff even found my discarded SIM card and were honest to callback and inform me about it.
I chose this hotel because they mentioned to have parking spot however it was very disappointed. Everyday you have to go somewhere else to park and pay a very high fee. The reception is not very helpful and feel very frustrated. The hot spring is dirty and packed with people.
good location, spacious room and cozy design, just the sound proof not good and the noise from the traffic is quite disturbing at the night. Thanks frontline for arranging luggage transfer to my next stop.
A little bit expensive...breakfast is ok...services is good
Location: Superb! Located between 2 stations - SANJO and Kyoto shiyakusho-Mae station. Shiyakusho-Mae is nearer to the hotel (exit 1),  about a min walk away after climbing two flights of stairs. However, if you have luggage, would suggest to go via exit 3, take the lift to another hotel lobby (I can’t recall the hotel name). Solaris is across the street from this hotel. I used a pre-purchased room voucher, and it was such an amazing deal! The hotel is right near Otsu Station and is absolutely beautiful. The room was huge, with a direct view of Lake Biwa. I loved everything about this hotel. The cleanliness was outstanding — easily one of the cleanest hotels I’ve ever stayed in. The staff provided great service and were always helpful and friendly. What’s a good location there ..this is my second times live there ..,free car park …pretty sea view …very good onsen ..100 marks
Facilities: A bit dated. Cleanliness: Very clean. Ambiance: Comfortable. Service: Warm and friendly ❤️ Definitely lives up to its reputation as a long-standing hotel. The scenery by Lake Biwa is stunning. Standing on the balcony, the view is picturesque. Upgraded the room for an additional 4000 yen upon check-in, and it felt well worth the money.
This hotel is located right by Lake Biwa, and every room boasts a large balcony where you can take in the stunning lake views. It's truly refreshing and uplifting! The hotel offers a convenient shuttle bus service right from the JR station, with pretty good frequency. Although you could walk to the hotel, providing a shuttle for this distance really shows their thoughtfulness. The onsen (hot spring...
The hotel's shuttle bus stop is right across the street from JR Station, with departures every half hour. It only takes a few minutes to reach the hotel. This was my second stay, so I didn't take any photos of the hotel. All I can say is that the hotel's location is absolutely fantastic! Also, the beds in the hotel are incredibly comfortable – just the right firmness – ensuring a good night's sleep. For such...
The hotel's location is really great; I love the Isomaru right across the street. This time, though, I encountered a staff member who wasn't very sharp. The main draw is how comfortable it is right by the Takase River, and Ogawa Coffee, just one traffic light away, is also delicious.
This is the seventh hotel I've stayed at in Kyoto. I've evolved from initially choosing hotels near Kyoto Station, primarily relying on buses for getting around, to now staying in the city center and using the subway more often. It's best to pick accommodation based on your personal travel needs. The hotel's front desk has plenty of staff; the experienced young and middle-aged employees are efficient...
The room was pretty good overall, with enough space for two suitcases. The hotel's location is excellent, surrounded by lively shops and restaurants, making it convenient for both dining and exploring. I highly recommend the bakery next door for breakfast; my daughter and I ate there twice and still talk about it!
My friend recommended this hotel. It's in a prime location, right by the Kamo River, making transportation very convenient. Shopping and dining are even easier. The hotel is a bit older. Environment: The location is excellent. Right outside the hotel, there are three streets, and a 2-minute walk to the left takes you to "Kamo River," while a 1-minute walk to the right leads to the bustling "Nishiki Market." Everything in Japan gets more expensive around New Year's, and this hotel was no exception. It has a really cool, stylish design, which I loved! However, it's right next to a cemetery. So, if that's something that bothers you, you might want to reconsider. Overall though, it was a very good stay.

We wanted a hotel in Gion with a public bath/onsen and Kyoto Granbell fit the bill. Originally we booked a moderate twin 18m2 but I was worried it would be too small so we upgraded to the Japanese twin 22sq meters and it was exactly what we wanted. Nicely designed boutique hotel. Cannot comment on the food as we didn’t take this option but room was clean and practically designed. Staff very professional and friendly. Located well for good restaurant choices.
The room is on the smaller side, but the bed is incredibly comfortable. The breakfast offers a great variety, and the lobby lounge area is very cozy. Plus, there's a hot spring on B1 which, though not huge, is wonderfully relaxing. The location is super convenient for getting around, with easy access to transport and plenty of dining options nearby.
Love how it is located nearby Gion and tourist area.
The hotel is beautiful and well located, public bathroom issues also great. Staffs are super friendly and helpful. On the other side, room is too small. Automatic toilet has very bad smell and cannot get rid of that smell. Drying machines at the laundry are super dirty, after washing and drying, tons of dust on my clothes.
Right in Gion! Very convenient:) Loved the huge bed! This bed is probably the biggest I’ve seen in Japan 😂 Room was sufficient, they provided everything we needed, spacious enough to open two suitcases. The hotel provides snacks and coffee at the lobby. Nice!

Booked a few nights here last minute when we didnt enjoy our current hotel. Friendly staff and the room was ready even though it was a same day arrival. Breakfast buffet is very generous in the morning with western and Japanese options. In the afternoon they have a sort of tea time as well where you can grab a drink, great if you think of passing by the hotel.
Right in centre of Kyoto City. Very convenient location for Kawaramachi, Shijo, all amusement just outside. Very safe for solo ladies. Western style large bedrooms yet traditional Kyoto luxury feel decor. Good value at reasonable prices. Loved it!

The room is OK, with a normal Japanese layout, but the price/performance ratio is not high, especially if the window is not facing the Kamo River, it is just an ordinary Japanese hotel
I stayed at this hotel in 2016. This time I booked it for my friend. It still feels a bit old. It's quite comfortable to walk along the nearby Kamogawa River, and the sanitation is also very clean.
Ryokan 10 minutes from the metro, relatively clean and quiet. Friendly, attentive staff but speaking little English. The room is clean but small for 4. Considering the services, the onsen not working, it is relatively expensive because a little out of the way
A few girls were traveling together, and because they were booked too late, there were not many Japanese-style hotels to choose from. This one pretty much meets our requirements.
The ladies at the front desk were lovely and the rooms were beautiful!

The food was delicious. The room had a slight odor, and I was bothered by how clearly I could hear sounds from the hallway (there was a gap under the door).
The place was great, very try clean and comfortable stay. There are no complaints during the entire stay.
Be sure to stay a couple of days and experience this wonderful place. The setting is very beautiful and traditional.
The hotel is located about ten minutes' walk from the tram station. The environment is quiet, the scenery is pleasant, the layout is very Japanese, the breakfast and food taste good, the person in charge is very friendly, there is a 24-hour supermarket three minutes away, and the price is not expensive.
The room facilities are good, with Japanese tatami. The bathroom, washroom, and toilet are separated, but not cramped (if not, the space would be very large). The breakfast was a bit unexpected (first time traveling in Japan), it was a full salty breakfast, sashimi, soup, etc. (with a small dessert). My 10-year-old child is not used to such a breakfast, and I am not used to eating sashimi in the morning...

Very nice hotel. Lots of space, and steps from the metro. The outdoor area in our suite was very nice!
An excellent option for those looking for a comfortable and well-designed stay in Kyoto. It's especially suitable for travelers who value: a convenient location, cleanliness and good service, the ability to live "like home" (with a kitchen and laundry facilities). On the downside, the table isn't very comfortable... (where you could have a drink and a meal).
Friendly staff. Clean. 15 mins walking distance to Gion and shopping street.
advantage: The location is good, the attached hand soap, body wash, and shampoo are very high-end, the room is nice and tidy, the lighting is good, and the breakfast is good (meal coupon for sandwich in the cafe next door) shortcoming: There is a kitchen in the room. Occasionally, there will be a little smell wafting out, maybe a few times (I thought it was us, but it wasn't), and it is a bit inconvenient...
Too much regulation, need to put key at front desk when go out every time! Cant leave luggage after check out.
The location is close to the Kyoto business district of Shijo. Those who drive themselves should pay attention to parking issues. Parking fees in Kyoto are not cheap. The connecting rooms are very convenient for family travel. The hotel is neat and clean.
