Kyotoya Otabishoan in Saga

The onsen inside the hotel is so lovely and well maintained. The hotel might be a bit old but it's really charming if you love the Japanese culture in the old time.

The hotel was within walking distance of the camphor tree, shrine, and library, and the Takeo Onsen new building was really close by. They were thoughtful enough to let me drink coffee in a pretty cup of my choice, which made me feel like I was in a cafe. Although it's an old place, it's very well-maintained and clean, and everyone was so kind, making for a pleasant experience.

It was a quirky stay in a vintage hotel. Peaceful n serene stay

This place is about a 5 to 10-minute walk from Takeo Onsen Station. As other reviews mentioned, it's quite old. The air conditioning, in particular, could use some attention. Although it's a ryokan, it seems to operate with a small staff. Breakfast is simple; it's a bit disappointing that there's no meat, but it genuinely offers a light morning meal. Unfortunately, the hot spring water is a circulated, heated, and disinfected type. Nevertheless, how should I put it... it feels like a place that put a lot of effort into it despite a small budget. The staff are very friendly, and the facilities on the first floor are interesting.

First, the room is huge. The website says it's 15 square meters, but excluding the entrance hall, toilet, and bathroom, the tatami area alone is at least 30 square meters. Second, the booking showed breakfast wasn't included, but it's actually free, and the selection is quite good. There's also free coffee in the lobby, and the elderly lady who seems to be the owner will play gramophone records for you—the kind that only plays for three minutes per record. Considering the price, it's incredibly good value. The century-old establishment is decorated authentically. The only minor drawback is the slightly outdated bath facilities, but considering the hotel's historical atmosphere, this is part of the experience. The hotel is within walking distance of the 3,000-year-old camphor tree and the Takeo Library, which houses a Starbucks and Tsutaya Bookstore. With a JR Kitakyushu Pass, it's convenient to take the JR Limited Express or Shinkansen to Fukuoka, Kumamoto, and Nagasaki; you can easily do all of that in a day. Takeo town isn't crowded with tourists or residents, offering a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle. Highly recommended.

Hot springs are nice and relaxing. The inner decor in lobby is really special. Although it’s a rather old hotel but the condition is overall well-maintained.
