Bottom Line Up Front: Pro: - Interesting, characterful property - Lovely decor, comfy beds. - Kind and attentive housekeeping staff. Con: - Not watertight. Rooms feel musty. Serious leak during a rainstorm that left me and my bags wet in the middle of the night. -Intermittent and confusing communication from Management. -Lackluster breakfast options - No in person reception service - No toiletries - Broken amenities (lights, shower door, etc) I very much wanted to like The Burrow but I'm afraid it was a disappointment. I booked with the proprietor offline because I find that small independent businesses appreciate that - it helps them to reduce overhead from 3rd party sites. This was a mistake as communication was intermittent, confusing and frustrating. Once I was in communication with Phoebe things were better and she was more responsive and she assisted in booking a taxi which worked flawlessly. Whoever remodeled and decorated the Burrow did an excellent job. The old building has been sympathetically and creatively re-thought and it is clear that extensive attention was given to furnishings, art etc. However the place needs some serious TLC as it felt, particularly once in the rooms, that upkeep has been neglected. But the final straw for me was on our third night. There was severe weather and I woke up thinking it was raining indoors. Rain was falling through both the bathroom and bedroom windows which both overlooked the inner courtyard. This made it impossible to sit on the toilet and I had to move my bags across the room to avoid what ended up being a puddle roughly the size of a twin bed. Water also seeped into my son's room but to a much lesser extent. Never before have I abandoned a hotel before the end of my stay but I did in this case. I felt wet, itchy and uncomfortable in the room and checked out early. Though Phoebe did offer us an alternative room at the time, I simply didn't feel like I wanted to devote any more of my holiday to feeling disappointed. It took several weeks to get any kind of response from the proprietor to my request for reimbursement which was denied though they did offer me a coupon for 2 nights off a future stay. Let me say that I think this property had tremendous potential. It just wasn't living up to it on my visit in December 2025. There was one bottle of hand soap and another unidentified toiletry in a travel bottle. The sink plug in one room did not work and in another, the shower door was broken. Overall my first feeling was therefore disappointment - I felt I was paying lux guest house prices and getting hostel quality. I will say however that the beds, though older, were comfortable and the sheets soft. I reported these issues to Phoebe and while the rooms were clearly given some attention the next day, several of the issues remained unfixed (shower door, plug). WalkabilityThe Burrow is

I would never recommend this place to anybody. I booked to stay here for 2 nights. Was told there were shuttles available to and from the airport. Also that they could arrange meals if needed, and that there would be someone available at the property between 4pm to 7pm every day. The shuttle that I had asked to be booked for pickup at airport was not arranged. The owner was called and she was no help. Had to arrange myself. At the property no one there to help. Was given room 8 at the top of the building. Had to get help from another guest as no way I could carry my bags up the steps. It was a confusing property to stay in, not easy to find my way in and out, bit like a maze. Cleaning staff were good, but I think the owner couldn't care less. Save the grief, don't stay here.

Honestly, I just want to leave my stay there behind me and forever forget about it. It has the potential to be a nice guesthouse and the staff are friendly but our experience was unimaginably unpleasant. Poor facilities, the already curved bed collapsed while we were sleeping and instead of apologising they blamed us for it. Really rude hosts, incredibly bad communication. I wouldn't bother again. We had 4 nights booked, left after only 1 night. Plenty of other decent places out there that treat you properly as a guest.
