Reviews
First stay was solid four stars, clean efficient, relatively quiet. Breakfast bit of a letdown but overall it was a good experience.
This time around 2 stars at best. We booked the same type of room (with kitchenet and sofa) but ended up in an older style version on the fourth floor. At a cursory glance it was slightly larger and more practical but as we actually spent time here issues became apparent; There was dried blood on one of the pillows. Bedroom light flickered and refused to turn on second night. The door and thermostat look like they've been to war.
All of that is manageable, what is not is a hammering noise starting at 4-5am Monday to Saturday (will see about Sunday) and going on non stop until at least 11am - probably later but we didn't stay in the room later. The staff is nice but can't do anything, the management seems to be hiding behind them but doesn't really disclose that the place is being renovated. Until renovations are done they need to either close or drop their prices because there are plenty of hotels in the area and having to listen to the sound of hammering from early morning after a long day is unacceptable.
Location 10/10
The rest is a 2-3 stars
We are here since Monday and there is still two weeks left …
They cut the water 3 afternoons so far … I wish someone could told us in advance
Connection for internet is on n off ( but that seems to be all over Mexico )
There is construction everyday be ready for the noise.
The spa didn’t work no water in it every day …
The gym is very small and not much like one run trail mat two bikes and one station for the arm … its not stable and you
May get hurt!
You can hear people moving chair upstairs in the other room and you can very much hear everything in the walk way !
There is a kitchen but not equipped you need to ask at the front desk … the ladies didn’t even bring it to the room !
Cleaning lady it’s ok but they didn’t even clean the oven when we asked for cleaning service after 4 days !
No towel for the hands in the kitchen neither the bathroom !
Haven’t try the restaurant yet but my feeling about this place is very mix !
I wish booking.com could have specify that the building is under construction that the water isn’t running in the afternoon.
Not so happy for the price we paid and what we get !
Be aware and good luck !!
The room showed clear signs of poor maintenance. Lighting was very dim, one bedside LED light did not work, and the toilet seat was broken. The bathroom sink and floor had visible brownish stains, which looked unpleasant and raised concerns about cleanliness. There were also paint stains on the curtain, and the kitchenette area shown in the listing photos did not exist in the actual room. As many other reviews have noted, soundproofing is minimal. Noise from other guests in the hallway and constant street traffic and honking could be heard throughout the night. The Wi-Fi was also very slow, often making it difficult to use Google Maps or plan daily routes, which is inconvenient for travelers who rely on stable internet access.
Later in the stay, the hotel mistakenly deactivated my room key and threw away my personal toiletries and unopened drinks from the fridge a full day before my scheduled check-out. Initially, I was not upset, as I understand mistakes can happen. What disappointed me was how the situation was handled afterward. I later learned that the hotel manager was already aware of the incident but avoided addressing it during our conversation until I directly asked about my missing items. There was no apology, acknowledgment, or accountability, only a denial that they had seen my toiletries. The items themselves were not valuable (around $20 USD total), but the lack of professionalism and empathy from both the front desk staff and management was truly surprising.
The Roma Norte location is convenient, but based on this experience, I would recommend travelers to Mexico City consider other options. Even for a 3-star hotel, the noise issues, poor customer service, misleading room photos, and overall lack of maintenance did not meet reasonable expectations.
Cafe and Restaurants near hotel
We were a bit skeptical about going in, but decided to do so anyway.
I am a vegetarian, so I am used to eating only salads, when I am in Mexico.
Surprisingly this place had couple of vegetarian options available.
I had a chance to eat couple of dishes.
1) "Arroz de Lentejas" or "rice with lentils : The rice was well cooked, but it was a bit bland. They do offer spicy green salsa, chopped onions and chopped green chilies. Once I added little bit of all these, the rice tasted very nice. I ended up eating two plates instead of one. I would rate it 4 out of 5.
2) Falafel / Falefel : This dish was very nice and I enjoyed it till last byte. They put pieces of falafel/falefel into Pita bread along with chopped veggies and some sauce. After so long, I had a nice experience of eating something vegetarian and tasty in Mexico city. This one definitely gets 5 out of 5.
The friends I went with had few non vegetarian dishes. And they enjoyed it too. General consensus was, we could visit the place more often.
The best part is, the place offers the food at comparatively low prices. For 4 of us, having proper meal, the total bill was around MXN$350.
Things to note:
-They don't accept cards
-Cash only place
-Seating is limited, not very small but average sitting space.
-You might be skeptical about entering the place, but trust me you won't be disappointed.
-Lime water was very good.
-Very near to many office places so easily accessible even by walk
Definitely recommended for small group of people who want to have something nice and something different from routine food, that too at cheaper rates.
