Breakfast was okay. Small selection buffet style, would have preferred choice on menu. The manager Camilla was wonderful, she helped us & took excellent care of all our needs.

The cabanas on the beach are definitely worth it, the ones further back are okay but affordable. Check out the sea weed beach bar on the beach where Victor works, he is a great guy and has good food.
Went back to Maalix in December. Victor is gone and so is the life of this place. I no longer give it 5 stars.

Quaint little beach side cottages, not too expensive. You can book online. The beach goes on forever...the little beach bar is awesome and the staff feels like a temporary family while you're here. At the southern end of tulum, a bit away from the bustling northern end, but not too far to walk or bike, which are available for $10 usd/day.
The beds are fairly hard as are the pillows, & you're better off trying to shower at night when there might be warm water. All in all, if you're looking for a rustic beachfront cottage that wont break the bank, this is your place.

The view is a 5 star rating along with the food at the seaweed beach bar. Eli was the best host. The rooms were very rustic. Always hot water and you can't say that about every place in Tulum. Very accommodating. It is worth the trip. If you ever wanted to try kite surfing it is right on the premise.
