The rooms are horrible, the bathrooms are dirty and small and the lighting in the room is very dull. The food quality is substandard and the funny thing is the hotel staff themselves do not eat food at this hotel!!!

The staff are pretty rude, especially the receptionist.

We have to pay for internet and is not free.

The prices are very high and not worth spending on this place.

I will never recommend this hotel to anyone.

Not such a good place for the price I paid. The food quality is substandard and is insanely overpriced. The rooms are small and the bathrooms are not clean. The staff are rude and never understand what you need. Preferential treatment is provided based on nationality. Overall not a place I would recommend even to my worst enemy. I can't believe this place is a 5 star hotel.

About 30 of us from India stayed at this hotel while we were touring nearby cities and tourist spots. We stayed at the hotel for 2 nights and on the second day we had planned for visiting the nearby tourist spots and our check out time was 12 PM. While we were about to leave the hotel the lady at the reception, out of the blue asks us to vacate the rooms at 8AM in the morning as she thought that we would not arrive by 12PM. We assured her that we would be back by the check out time and we boarded our bus.

For our shock they locked the gates immediately and did not allow our bus to exit out of the hotel. After enquiring with the security we got to know that the reception had ordered the security to lock the gates.

We had to raise our voices at the reception for the bus to exit the hotel. We asked the reception to call the manager but all we got was silence from the front desk. They clearly violated human rights and treated us like animals. They could have informed us the previous night to vacate a bit early, but they did not.

The hotel staff were not friendly. They gave us the worst rooms possible. We asked them for bigger rooms (which were clearly available) they said all the rooms were of the same size. People in our batch felt that we were treated badly because of our nationality.

The bathrooms were bad, taps were leaking and the support staff had no idea how to treat guests.

I would not recommended Shangri-La to anyone and would strongly recommend you to opt for other hotels that are available in Kathmandu.

It is hard to believe that this is a 5 star hotel. Mr Bikram Shah you need to look into this issue seriously.

Shangri-La Kathmandu is an insult to five star hotels and a black mark in the beautiful country of Nepal.

Too expensive for what it has to offer. A very tired hotel that is too far behind its world wide Shangri-la chain. I will never stay here again. 3 star hotels are far better than this.
