The rooms are adequate and at a fair price. I didn’t try the breakfast and there’s no bar/restaurant.
I stay in 200+ hotels a year and I can tell by the price what I’m getting. I was very happy with it, I’ve stayed in far worse for triple the price.
The lady running reception is excellent. Friendly, helpful and has good local knowledge.
Try the fries at the snack bar next door. They’re fantastic.
Enter and you immediately will be met by a strong pee-like smell.
Look at the stained floor, on your way up to the first floor, using the stairs, because the elevator is out of order.
Go to you room, to find out it's a worn out shoe-box, badly insulated, with cracked walls and stains of infiltrated water.
No soap anywhere in the bathroom and pieces of furniture left dismantled meet you, if you need a shower.
Boil yourself some water, using the kettle provided in the room and the light will trip, so you will be left in the dark.
As the reception is closed, call the phone number placed on the door, where someone will instruct you to open a keybox, where you - hopefully- should find a card key, to access the electric box and rearm the power in your room.
Unfortunately said card is not there so, you're told someone will come and fix it soon.
That means that, by the time you leave, you will magically see light again, all going well.
That is, a terrible experience, or a nightmare, whatever is best.
Not worth the name hotel, a shame for the Netherlands and the city of Ijmuiden, such a place is allowed to be.
