Hotel Restaurant de Beukelaer in Roggel

We dined here with eight people, and the general conclusion was: quite expensive for what was on the plate. A small stew, for example, and few fries. The mayonnaise that came with it was in a tiny paper container with a plastic spoon. A few of us ordered sole, but the waiter in question couldn't fillet it. This is simply unacceptable in a restaurant like this. Overall, the taste wasn't bad, but it could have been a bit more for such a price.

Following De Beukelaer's comment, here's an addition: eight people heard the waiter in question say sole was available, so not dab! In better restaurants, it's still filleted at the table (if requested). We did indeed tip (we always do) because we know that service in restaurants generally doesn't earn top dollar, and a tip is a welcome addition. (We didn't write any complaints about the service, but about the quality/price ratio, and the service is not responsible for that.) The waiter did indeed ask a few times at the table if we wanted anything else to drink, but not whether we wanted fries, for example. We asked for that ourselves. Finally, De Beukelaer is certainly entitled to defend their case, but they could also show some understanding for their guests and not just look at things from their perspective.

Breakfast was basic and good. No open buffet, so less wasteful. Everything was good.
