Choose an other hotel. No value for money. Unfriendly person werving breakfast

The service at Hotel Molendal was highly unsatisfactory. We were sold something different from what we received, and the actual experience did not justify the price of 142€ per night. The presence of ongoing construction work right outside our window, undisclosed until check-in, significantly impacted our privacy and peace.

In the morning, we were unpleasantly awakened at 8 am by the noise of construction work and the workers' radio, further diminishing our peace and privacy. The worker's direct view into our room added to the overall discomfort (see photos).

The crucial information about the construction work, which affected our comfort, was hidden in an automated booking confirmation email sent in Dutch, a language we couldn't understand as non-locals. Despite our efforts to express dissatisfaction and request a discount, both directly with the property and through Booking.com customer service, the property refused to compensate us for the inconveniences faced.

142€ is a substantial amount, making our planned vacation at Hotel Molendal a rare and special occasion for us. The rooms, advertised as luxurious and comfortable, failed to deliver the expected relaxing and beautiful experience.

This experience not only marked the worst customer service I've encountered in years but also ironically stands as the most expensive stay I've ever booked. For a property in this price class, prioritizing customer satisfaction should be paramount. Instead, we left feeling cheated, ripped off, and profoundly disappointed. I cannot recommend this property and advise those seeking a pleasant experience to choose an alternative.

Lovingly restored old hotel with warm, welcoming staff. Wonderful breakfast. If you don’t mind the stairs, the top floor of the hotel has great views. Pretty part of town, yet close to public transport and the historic centre too.

Cosy, lovely place with clean and comfortable rooms. Breakfast staff destroys welcoming atmosphere with horrible service - very unfortunate.

The outside view of the hotel Molendal is a picture. Upon entering we were very welcomed by the lady behind the reception, I felt very wanted. In amazement I looked at the ground floor which radiated warmth and a luxurious homely atmosphere. Our room was on the top 4 floor, unfortunately there was no elevator. Once upstairs we entered our room, and full of admiration we did a round. The room radiated, like the entire hotel Molendal, a luxurious homely atmosphere. In terms of hygiene, the entire accommodation gets a score of 10 from me. My compliments for the staff you feel wanted are very friendly and perform Hospitality at the highest level. Parking spaces (paid) are ample and within walking distance. The center of Arnhem is 5 minutes from the hotel Molendal. The stay at hotel Molendal gets a score of 10 from me + TheJff Jansen Eyken Sluyters.

Hotel Molendal is about a 10-minute walk from the station in one of the most beautiful neighborhoods of Arnhem. The hotel is a beautiful Art Nouveau building with a stately and hospitable character. This is a great place for walkers and nature lovers because Sonsbeek is literally around the corner and from Sonsbeek you can wander endlessly through the parks and estates around Arnhem (or even to the Veluwe). The breakfast in the conservatory breakfast room is good. You can't dine here but there are many restaurants within a 10-minute walk. Spacious rooms. History. Style. Peace.

I am unable to comment on the quality of the lodgings, only the booking process, so this review relates only to the service I received in subsequent communication with the hotel.

I endeavoured to book a twin room (two single beds) via Booking.com. This was successful and the reservation was made.

I then sought advice from the hotel as to whether they could assist with secure overnight storage of two bikes as we were undertaking a bike tour.

The hotel declined my request for two single beds even though that option was provided during the booking process and the reservation went through okay. Further, the hotel advised (quite abruptly) that they cannot provide overnight storage for two bikes, did not offer any possible options in the area, and then suggested I should cancel. Pretty poor show all round.

Nice place with a really friendly and helpful staff. The room we stayed in had a lot of character. The street noise was noticeable at times in the night (the sound of people) but not enough to be a problem. I would stay here again if I was in Arnhem.

Very lovely and caring staff. Big and soft beds.
Ideal setting for a weekend as a couple.
