Reviews
During our stay, one of the beds was of much lower quality than the others, with the mattress squishing down and providing no support, and so the bed was not slept in. It wasn't until after we had left the hotel that a charge appeared on my credit card for $230, with no contact from the hotel. I called, and they claimed that we had broken a bed, fabricating a false story and claiming that our group had been "jumping on the beds" and "refusing cleaning to hide the damage," neither of which we did. Additionally, they told me false information about the cost of the bed, and sent an extremely zoomed in picture of the "damage," which is impossible to tell what it even is. I attached the image to this review for context. Not only this, but they have no policy listings for damages, and did this all outside of the booking agency with which I had made the purchase.
All in all, I want any and all potential customers of this hotel to understand the risks that can come with booking their rooms. I do not wish what happened to me for anyone, this has created a large amount of hassle over what seems very clearly to be a scam targeting younger customers. Beware of this hotel.
The location of Westertoren Hotel is without a doubt its strongest point – ultra-central and perfect for exploring Amsterdam on foot. However, the value for money is quite disappointing, especially considering the price paid, which was far from cheap.
From the moment you arrive, you are faced with extremely steep stairs. Even without luggage, climbing them is a real effort, and if you have heavy suitcases… good luck. The room we received for three people was extremely small, so cramped that you literally have to step over your luggage just to move around. The beds seem comfortable, but the single bed is very narrow, and there is a real risk of falling out during the night.
Soundproofing is almost nonexistent – you can hear everything through the walls, as well as noise from outside through the balcony door. The furniture is very old and worn, and the bathroom is tiny. The mirror is placed above the toilet, which makes absolutely no sense – it’s impossible to wash properly, do your skincare routine, or shave comfortably.
The hotel does not have a restaurant, and breakfast is delivered to the room and is extremely basic, nothing that justifies the price (you can also see this in the photos).
In conclusion, if you are not very demanding and simply want to stay in the city center, this might be an option. But if you expect comfort, transparency, and good value for money, you may be disappointed.
And once again: good luck with the stairs!
Nice size rooms with a great view for people watching on the sidewalks from store to store. Very central to all shops trains, and buses. Above average breakfast. The manager, whose name I forget or I would have included it, was very friendly and helpful. The only thing I will point out is the staircase is pretty steep with no elevators. That said people were polite when encountering each other while going up and down. Thank you for the great service.

The entrance stairs are dangerous (check the photo before booking a room…).
There is no bar or breakfast room; they told me breakfast would be brought to the room at 08:15. I waited until 08:40 (I had already paid for breakfast) and NOBODY showed up.
When I tried to complain about the missing service, they tried to brush me off…
I paid for 2 breakfasts and they don’t want to fix ANYTHING. I’m almost sure they ate it themselves…
This hotel is an absolute disgrace.
We recommend 😊👍
