Description

Leonardo Hotel Amsterdam City Center is a 4-star property built in 1965 and renovated in 2005, offering a mix of Comfort and Superior rooms including single, double, triple, and quadruple options. The hotel provides essential amenities such as air conditioning, free WiFi, free parking, and facilities for disabled guests. Guests can enjoy a buffet-style continental breakfast daily, and onsite dining is available at the hotel’s restaurant and bar. The 24-hour front desk and security services add convenience and safety. While the building shows its age with an old lift and some dated carpets, rooms are generally clean and equipped with ensuite bathrooms, TVs, and comfortable beds. The hotel also offers bike rentals at no charge, which is a practical way to explore Amsterdam. Service quality varies, with some guests praising helpful staff, though others reported issues with check-in and customer service responsiveness.

Location

Located at Tesselschadestraat 23, Leonardo Hotel Amsterdam City Center is about 10 km from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. The hotel lies near the Museum Quarter and is a short walk from Leidseplein and the inner canals. Public transport is accessible, with trams 1, 2, and 5 nearby, facilitating easy reach to Dam Square and other attractions. Guests will find a range of cafes, bars, and restaurants within a five-minute walk, including the highly rated Holland Casino restaurant just 269 meters away.

The hotel itself was nice and good location, we were not warned about building work around the hotel and when mentioned there was no apology and no form of compensation. One night we came home from a long day/night and our room keys wouldn’t work the working gave us more cards and they didn’t work this took 3 attempts till he just came up with us to let us into our rooms so we had no working keys for our room that night.

I then went down the next morning to be given some more keys that worked, the room we were also given was a small room where there was an obstruction in the shower that was part of the building where we had to duck under to get to the shower.

I have tried to contact the hotel and customer services for 3 months now and have had no reply! Awful customer service!

One older, extremely rude check-in staff made my stressful situation worse while I was on a 1-hour call wait with the airline about my canceled flight. Better replace this person if you want to greatly improve your hotel service. Other staff on different days and times were kind and understanding.

We had a great three night stay at the Leonardo city hotel.
Great location near the museum area and inner Amsterdam canals, yet really quiet too.
Breakfast was great value, good selection of hot and cold breakfast, pastries, fruit and fruit salad etc. The breakfast room was very well decorated and stylish. Rooms were ok, each enjoying a big picture window, ensuite and comfy beds,
Staff were very helpful and pleasant. All together a great stay.

Everything was great, but the soundproofing wasn’t the best. I guess it’s just the way the place is built.

Cosy hotel but with tiny lift. Hotel was old but still clean. Quick walk to nearby attractions like Rijkmuseum. Hotel also offers bike rentals, and near another bike rental shop.

Located just 1 street away from Mariott but at an much affordable price. Room is clean and nice. Location is a good short walk from the canals.
Only downside is the shower room water tends to flow out.

When we first arrived at the room, we found out the blanket had a stain. We called the reception but he responded that it was not possible as they had changed the supplier yesterday. He came up with a poor service attitude, just claiming that it was impossible. He said there were no housekeepers at the moment, so we had to change it ourselves. He asked us to email the photo below so that they could file a complaint.

It is TOTALLY unacceptable for the customers to change the blanket on their own when it was not even their fault, not to mention emailing a photo to the hotel to file a complaint.

The service was also poor, the receptionist was not friendly.

I would definitely not recommend this hotel to anyone.
