Reviews
It near China Town and Red Light Secret Street too
Important it is next to Central Station which the PLUS to us 😍🥰😘
My husband and I went on a Europe trip covering 8 countries in 2 weeks. In total, we stayed at 14 different hotels in different cities. Our last stop was Amsterdam, and this hotel was supposed to be the perfect closure to our trip. Sadly, it was the complete opposite.
We checked in around 11:00 p.m Dec 28th 2025, and I had already emailed the hotel in advance to inform them that we would be arriving late due to our late flight from Venice. However, we were not welcomed properly upon arrival.
The receptionist ( black woman, long hair, long nails) who attended to us was extremely rude. She shouted in front of me and spoke harshly to my husband in her own language. When my husband asked politely about the double bed, she responded rudely and rolled her eyes.
She then asked us to pay the city tax. My husband took out cash and placed it on the counter, but she said they only accept card payments. We were completely fine with that. The cash on the counter was meant for me, as my husband and I had already agreed that he would reimburse me in cash while I paid by card.
Despite this, the receptionist started shouting uncontrollably, repeatedly yelling “NO CASH!” at us in an aggressive tone, as if we had done something wrong. She even called another staff member, and she still raised her voices at us, while cuursed me and my husband , creating a humiliating scene. No effort was made to listen, clarify, or show basic professionalism. She assumed the cash was meant for her, but it was not. The cash was meant for me. At no point did she apologize.
Because of this incident, what should have been a relaxing and happy stay in Amsterdam became deeply uncomfortable and stressful. This level of unprofessionalism, disrespect, and poor customer service is completely unacceptable, especially in the hospitality industry.
I am extremely disappointed and would never recommend this hotel to anyone.
Because of this incident, our stay in Amsterdam became a nightmare. She never apologized to either me or my husband. I am extremely disappointed with this hotel and the unprofessional behavior of its staff.
Plus the room is super small, no kettle and cups provided, the towel is small, the room is not sound proof i can hear people walking and laughing. The wall is thin i guess.
The room was clean, warm, and simple in a way that felt grounding. After days filled with conversations and deadlines, returning to that space felt like a quiet reset.
The staff were genuinely kind, always ready to help with a smile that made every interaction feel human. There is a sense of quiet care that you can feel, and it stays with you.
Thank you Ibis Amsterdam for being more than a hotel. You were a pause, a reminder that even in the middle of business and movement, there is always space for stillness and heart.
